Always top notch service with friendly, knowledgeable employees. They have great bow selection from all the top manufacturers, alongside a ton of other hunting gear from optics to backpacks, shoes to sleeping pads. Ross Outdoors is a one stop shop and my favorite archery shop in the Valley.

Every experience I've had with Ross Outdoors has always been excellent! Family owned and operated, they treat you as if you were a friend that came over to shoot the shit in the backyard. They have always provided good advice and tips to my husband, as well as tossing in a free hat or shirt on occasion for his business. This review isn't about him though, it's about me, and my experience as a 5' nothing first time archer/bow hunter. Let me start by saying- to ALL the ladies out there that shoot and want to improve, or want to learn- THIS IS YOUR SHOP Drop your husband off at Cabellas to sniff around, and drive over to Ross. Why? Because they actually want you to be better than your husband thinks you can be. They want you to drop tacks, skunk him and his friends, and feel so good, and so confident that you will get other ladies interested in this amazing sport. If you don't have a man, need a man or want a man to bother with- this place- and Nate will guide you and help you lean and improve so fast you will shock yourself. Nate is an anomaly in this sport. Just my opinion, not gospel, but he is my current man crush (other than you honey.) He is kind, patient and sooooo freaking tuned into this sport it's freakish. He knows what and why you can't seem to land your shot where you are aiming. He talks in laments terms and makes sure you understand why he's changing things, and what he hopes you to accomplish after. I was an archery virgin. I asked for and received a Bear Finesse for Christmas. It was an eBay find from a man who's wife shot it twice and promptly said- "This sport isn't for me." (Just a long shot- but I bet her husband was trying to teach her to shoot.) I digress.... I walked into Ross and was treated like a customer, not a chick who was drug in by her husband. They got my draw length and poundage set for me, cut my arrows and adjusted my release. I went over to the archery lane to pop my very first shots. My first arrow hit the wall, my second thwacked my arm. Some adjustments were made, and I was actually on the target, kind of. We had to go, so my husband said he would work with me. To his account he was just genuinely trying to help me improve. He never really yelled, much, but, we are married. Married. The ladies reading this understand. Two weeks later I go back into Ross and meet.... NATE. Right off the bat I felt at ease. He worked with me, helped me with my posture and grip, fine tuned my bow, and basically told me to ignore my husband and focus on the basics. By the time I left I was hitting decent groupings at 10 yards. But then I came home, dropped back to 20 yards and sucked. My husband made so many suggestions and tweaks that I was getting frustrated and decided I was the issue, not the bow. Back to Ross, and Nate to figure this all out. After about 10 minutes of observation, Nate saw that my whisker biscuit and pins didn't line up. It was slight, but was the reason my shots were low and left. My peep was also slightly off. We paper tuned my bow, and by the time I left I was nailing tight, tight groupings at 20 yards. Came home, still hitting groupings that I'm very proud of, and finally feel confident and comfortable with my Bear. Moral of my story- Sometimes you just need a place that is as invested as you are in your success. Go to Ross. Every guy in that place knows their shit, and wants you to improve. They will never be a big box store that gets people behind the counter that don't actually shoot. And go see Nate- tell him the short blond chick who brought him cookies sent you.

I bought my son a bow for his birthday since he has been really interested in archery. With me having no idea about anything archery, I bought the completely wrong setup for him at Cabela's. I went to Ross Outdoors and William helped us out, got us dialed in with the correct bow for my son, set the bow up for him, and helped us to find the right equipment- and actually helped us to save money in getting the right bow setup. He even took my son into the range and showed him the proper way to hold and shoot the bow. William was great, and now that my son is even more excited about archery, I will definitely be visiting William at Ross Outdoors again to work on a bow for myself so I can shoot with my son. I couldn't be happier and can not recommend Ross enough. They are awesome and really took care of my son and I.

Thanks to the guys at Ross Outdoors 2015 javelina success.

Ross Outdoors is hands down the best shop in town. I have been a customer for a few years. They get what customer service is, and have some of the best tech's I have ever dealt with. Purchased a custom bowstring this year they installed it, paper tuned my bow, put a couple arrows thru the chrono and made sure I was dialed back in to 20 yards. I have recommended them to hunting buddies and every person I have sent turned in to Ross customers. I have no problem driving 45 miles from my house and passing other shops to go to Ross.

Thanks to The Ross Outdoors crew on helping me get my Elk this last year!

I came here a few days ago looking for vertical ascend gear out of caves. I was greeted by Jason and he was really helpful and knowledgeable. I needed very specific gear, and Jason was very patient with me and showed me where I could find sit harnesses, chest harness, chest ascender, hand ascende, foot loops, etc. I didn't find exactly what I needed but got a good idea on the things I need to build a personalized vertical gear set for myself. And of course, while I was looking for cave gear, I wandered around looking at all the fabulous gear they have, I was like a kid in a candy store. I could spend hours in here. I started looking at hydration packs as I need to replace mine and found a very nice military edition and will come back to purchase this soon. I also saw plenty of Petzl bags, and very tempted to purchase another. They also carry so much Petzl gear, you will be in heaven here. Also, some great hiking shoes and some sleek, but we'll performing water shoes. I then wandered into kayaks and Jason even showed me the Padillac they have! I've gotten into paddleboarding and kayaking for the summer and now want one of each! This place rents them and sells them. I then went to check out some wetsuit gear, and they have a really nice selection of wetsuits, gloves, booties, etc. I really love this place and it is definitely gonna bankrupt me, but so worth it. High quality gear, more extensive selection than REI and the staff here know what they are talking about. If you need something specialized, this is the place for you. I'll be back here soon!

He knew he'd been caught lying, but insisted that morning deliveries hadn't been put out.yet. I commented that he should wear a mask if there was that much dust in their ventilation. Going to the gun counter, there was one employee behind the counter and more than a dozen people waiting to be helped. There is premium ammunition behind the counter, but it's far enough away that you can't read the brand name. Judging by the number of people waiting to be helped, I'm not standing idly for an hour or two to ask what ammunition brands they have. Nowhere else in the store is there 14-15 people waiting to be helped -- and there's inky two sales clerks working the firearms counter. You'd think that store management would add people in firearm sales, as I've had precisely the same experience of actually waiting more than an hour to find out if they carry a certain product needed the next day at a training event. I have no idea what this store is doing. Neither do they.

Here are the reasons why they only get 3 stars: There's a woman that's worked here for the past 2+ years who initially offered to sign me up for an REI credit card, which would give me 1.5% to REI on my purchases and other perks like $100 REI credit or something, so I agreed. I've come in here fairly often to pick up supplies and she never seems to remember me, not that that matters, but I've had to return items like walking poles that were defective, and most recently, had to exhange out a possibly defective butane portable canister and each time, she's had to have a manager come suss out the situation. Probably it's store policy but I feel like in the last couple of years, their return policy isn't like before. They used to have a no questions asked policy, but these days, it feels like they scrutinize a lot more, probably a lot more people coming in. What was really annoying about the butane container exchange, which the manager did agree to, was the same woman who signed me up for the credit card, said I owed 67 cents or something. I thought I had no rewards since she said I owed money, so I then asked her about my REI credit card awards and I had over $240+ or something. Of course, I would use that! What's even more annoying is that she asked me a second time, are you Vivian? The first time was when she looked into my REI account to exchange out the butane canister and she asked if I was Vivian. No, I didn't have an imposter replace me between when her supervisor came to talk to me about the item and when she exchanged it out. Ugh, that was annoying. A few times I've had store workers help suggest items to me but feels like they don't really truly understand what I need. Awhile ago, I bought a pair of hiking boots and they just aren't really good, even though they are the top of the line French Lowa hiking boots. One thing you should know is that I definitely don't skimp on gear as I need and like high quality items for the outdoor things I do. I also bought a pair of Altra trail running shoes, and they also aren't the best shoes, so they've become my get dirty caving shoes. I was better off with an older pair of Pumas for my running needs. I recall coming in here to purchase a pair of base layer pants this past winter as I was headed to Europe and would partake in some skiing and recall the woman that helped me wasn't that nice as I asked her to take the pair I needed off the mannequin, it was the last pair of small they had. I can't count how many times I have been here as I do a lot of outdoors activities and have a lot of gear, but just feels like lately, this place just isn't really living up to the standards I used to enjoy about this store. It might be time to break up soon honestly...I guess all relationships must end, even the good ones that have gone sour.
