They give chips and salsa , I can tell they were store bought . We ordered the carne asada plate , first bite in I felt like it was fairly warm , as we got to the second asada it was already cold . My boyfriend and myself were looking for a new place to eat for my birthday 5/15 Monday was my birthday. We chose this place because we have never been there before. Lol parking lot was quite empty when we pulled in but it looks like a nice place we walked in. We were greeted and seated immediately our server came to our table with chips and salsa. Salsa was good chips had a light fluffy taste to them, which was good. We liked them. We ordered ice tea instead of alcohol. This time the ice tea was very refreshing the lemon that they put on the edge of our class was very fresh. That was nice. I ordered the pork chop plate which came with chili and you had a choice of two sides. I ordered potatoes and rice which I thought was very cool that you could choose your own sides, most restaurants they automatically come with rice and beans. What I thought was very cool was my meat was not smothered with my chili it came in a little pot off to the side so I could smother my food as I wanted and you could see the part in the picture I post, our server was very friendly checked on us periodically not too much to be a bother but just enough to make sure that we knew he was there for us. I find that very accommodating I like that.! as we were sitting there, the restaurant started getting a little more busy noticed some older clientele coming in, and they just walked in and set them selves so we figured they were regulars lol the servers do them, and immediately brought them their drinks and the chips and salsa without asking them what they were drinking That's how we knew that they were regulars... We had a nice time chitchatting checking out the family pictures that adore in the walls. That's always nice to see. They also had quite a few TVs hanging around the walls with different showings. There was sports there was news and whatever else they chose to put on the TVs the decorations very nice, and the lights that hung over the booths, very cute not too bright and not too dim. I do recommend this place it was good food, and the ambience was amazing and the server was great! I did have to ask for a to go box, and I was quite pleased to see that it was not Styrofoam. I'm recommending Rositas to a very specific audience - are you from Texas and missing Taco Cabana's bean and cheese nachos? Rositas is for you. Do they have other good menu options? Sure, I like their breakfast burritos, the burnt tacos are pretty good, my husband loves the flautas. But is anything on their menu better than their bean and cheese nacho appetizer? No, absolutely not. I live walking distance to Rositas so it's a convenient option. If it weren't, I probably wouldn't frequent them. The food is pretty good but not the best Mexican food in the area. The drinks are not great. I have only dined in once so can't say much on service, but our to go orders are correct 90% of the time and since we're so close the food is always hot and fresh. Rositas fills a large void in my heart since leaving Taco Cabana behind and for that I will always be grateful. read more

Pretty lackluster experience here. I need a burrito to use in conjunction with a collaboration I was posting on insta and as Rositas was nearby and on my way home I figured I would grab one from there. Chose a handheld burrito as it would make for better pictures and put the order in on an app. I showed up a few minutes before my scheduled Time but I figured a handheld burrito with 3 ingredients how long could that possibly take to make. Showed up to a completely empty restaurant and the order not done. No worries I assume I let them know that I'm here and they will start making it....considering they have 0 other customers. Nope. Took them 17 min to get that burrito with literally - green chili , cheese, beans, and pork complete. All the while the ladies are all chatting and having a great time. Pretty interesting experience. But oh well; get home and take my pix and then try the burrito. Paid extra for sour cream inside the burrito, it came on the side lol. Burrito was meh. Which I guess giving my experience even trying to pick it up, I guess should have been expected. Food is good and usually served in a reasonable time. Service ranges between good when the owner is there to occasionally poor when she's not. (staff like to stand around in the back chatting, sometimes not even noticing when a customer comes in) The owner provides employment opportunities for younger staff to deliver chips/salsa and buss tables which is commendable. Owner must pay pretty well and be reasonable to work for since the wait staff turnover is pretty low. Two servers we particularly like are a very slim young lady and a taller middle age gal. read more

Three delivery orders before posting this review. Only because I couldn't believe a restaurant could be so near perfection for the first two orders... I had to be sure with the third delivery this morning. And the third was a charm! Menudo is 100%. I've become accustomed to getting limes with my menudo, but Rositas serves it with lemon slices. I don't know which is authentic - but it works! My son is an extremely picky eater, but he devours everything I get from Rositas. His favorite are the French fries and the HUGE pancakes. I also appreciate the fries because they always show up crispy and in large quantity! Rosita's has earned my continual business. Give them a try and you might get hooked as well! read more

I needed a light-ish dinner but still wanted to have something substantial, so I decided to have Rosita's. I love taquitos, so I tried the Taquitos Sampler Platter. I was told 15 minutes and arrived exactly on time. The staff was very friendly and the ambience is great! Very cozy and delicious free smells haha. However, I waited another 10+ minutes, which made me think that they hadn't started my order. When I got home, I was PLEASANTLY surprised! Three taquitos cut in half and inserted into a guacamole salad. They gave me a bag of tortilla chips, as well, so it was a perfect combination of a bite of taquito and a scoop of guac/cheese/tomatoes. The guacamole was really good. The taquitos were perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully chewy on the inside. I give this a great review because Rosita's is a neighborhood institution and I'm happy to patiently wait for awesome food. I had never had the Taquito Sampler Platter and was suspicious of the guacamole salad, but it was the perfect light fare dinner. I will definitely be getting this meal again in the future. read more

This place is garbage. The food is barely mediocre and the prices are ridiculous. The hubbs and I are new to the area and wanted to get a couple Mexican plates, so we called Rosita's. I got a chile relleno plate, the hubbs got carnitas. First of all, 2 plates and a flan was almost $35. What a joke! My rellenos were awful. All batter, hardly any chile pepper and some sort of bright orange plastic-cheese hybrid that doesnt melt. Ick. AWFUL rellenos. I ate less than half and tossed the rest in the trash. Total waste of money. My husband's carnitas were decent, if a bit dry. But for almost $15? It was a TINY amount of meat. Oh, and two tortillas that came straight from the grocery store. They could at least throw them on the flat top for a second and get some brown on there...NOPE. And the flan? Was about 2 bites. We laughed when we pulled the tiny little cup out of the bag. I'm talking a little plastic cup w a lid that was the size you would normally get some hot sauce in. And it was also quite mediocre. Pretty much NOTHING we got was very good, and nowhere NEAR worth the price. One star for the beans and rice, which at least weren't horrible. I haven't been here for years but I sure am glad that I brought my Wife here as she has never been here. The place is casual but quaint not to big but plenty of seating with booths around the perimeter of the restaurant. It's a stand alone building so it's easily to spot just a little north of 80th Ave on Federal. The give you a basket of chips to dip into the medium heat salsa that has a nice flavor. We went in for lunch as we had an appointment in the area so we thought this was a good fit for our time constraints. My wife had the special of the day which was a Rosita Gordita that gives you the options of different meats to fill the deep fried tortilla along with the usual favorites of guacamole, cheese lettuce and tomatoes and chili which you may ask for on the side. My wife truly enjoyed it and I cant really say we've seen this item on the menu of any other Mexican restaurants we frequent. I went for the carna asada plate that came with 2 nicely roasted jalapenos, beans , rice and tortillas of your choice. I asked for a side of extra hot chili and I'm not sure if there was a mistake but the salsa was hotter than the chili. So I will admit my wife and I agreed this isn't the largest menu we've seen but that's ok because they do offer a nice variety of things to choose from including si food as they say on their menu. And yes you can also get Menudo for those Sunday mornings, lol. All in all this experience was one of the more enjoyable Mexican meals we've had in awhile and were glad we stopped in. All in all I would recommend giving this place a try because it has been here quite awhile and it's some thing that may make you change your mind about going to the places that everyone goes to here in the north part of town and you guys know the ones I'm talking about because it sure has opened our eyes to not be scared to give an old place some of our hard earned money and not come away thinking we should have went somewhere else. read more

As a kid I used to come to this restaurant when it was located on 84th and Federal. Took my wife here for dinner and the restaurant was pretty much empty, when we received the menu I was absolutely shocked how much they had cut back on the menu items. The dinner menu was so limited I ended up ordering breakfast for dinner because the options for dinner was horrible. No combination plates, no skillets, and the wait for your food also took a long time to the point I considered onnpaying for my drink and walking out. Sadly I probably won't be coming back here any time soon. My wife wanted a good dinner and I felt like I disappointed her by bringing her here. The salsa tasted like tomatoes paste, the green Chile was ok but definitely not New Mexico style like they used to be. As the prices go up the quality of food seems to dimnish. read more

My roommate recommended this place. I'll never listen to her recommendations again. She told me it had the "best" Mexican food in town, and was "soooo good." I am no longer convinced she knows the meaning of "good." This is literally the worst food I've had, possibly in years. I should've followed my gut and left when I walked in. I couldn't send it back, because they can't do anything to fix their inability to make good food. The service was fine. But the food. Every bite was worse than the one before. Even the chips they serve veggie your food were terrible and funky. The salsa was spicy, but the flavor was just bad. This place only had super white clientele - which was the hint I should've taken and turned around and left. That is not good news at a Mexican restaurant. And it was overpriced (though, saying that makes me chuckle, because the food was so bad, any price was too high, but I mean comparatively to other Mexican restaurants in the area, with edible food, and similar sounding menu items.) Had it been good, the price would've been fine. But, it was terrible, it made the food worse. I literally hadn't eaten all day and my hunger couldn't make this food worth eating. Tonight's restaurant review- Rosita's off of 80th and Federal I knew something was up when there was no wait time to be seated and the place was empty on a Saturday night. They had something on the menu named "burnt tacos" and "Navajo egg rolls". PS, I am Navajo and we never make egg rolls lol. Anyhow, ask for a Budweiser Michelada and got a Bud Light. No biggie I will drink it, except this one was undercover. Looked like a michelada, smelled like a michelada, but it didn't taste like one. It was bland to say the least. Ordered an app and then our entrees. App was chicken flautas and were ok. Entree-This is where it all went South! I ordered a carne asada plate. I received something that resembled beef, topped with onions and two Chile's toreados. A side of beans with a sprig of cheese and black pepper Spanish rice. First bite was a little off but went in for a second and used a piece of Chile to mask it. Nope, not gonna complain, so I place some salsa, sour cream and guacamole on the plate to give it another try. Let's just say when you make an onion and sour cream quesadilla with bites of toreado to fill your stomach speaks volumes about what they call asada $72 later I felt this was over priced for subpar food! Save your money and buy a banquet Mexican microwaveable meal for $2 and a michelada in a can, it would be just as good! two thumbs down for this joint read more

The husband & his family are regulars at the restaurant. I have had a few different things to eat on different occasions. Menudo is not bad, had Mexican hamburger and fries- not my fav. I've had the enchiladas cheese & chicken both good. The do have a few other items I've tried that are pretty good. I have a rule that if I can find somethings on the menu I like ill go back for those & because my family likes it. I settle for this place for a few reasons- 1st family 2nd because this far north we don't have many options for Mexican food. I have eaten at Rositas a couple of times before. When I called in an order, to pick it up. I thought the prices were reasonable on their website. Well, the whole damn price is just not a little higher, but almost doubled. I personally think the prices should of been updated on the website. I ordered a chimichanga which shows a price of $10.99, and a Mexican hamburger at $8.79. When I picked up my order, I just went back home started eating, and noticed I was charged $17.99 for the Chimichanga, and $14 99 for the mexican hamburger. When i called to let them know, the manager told me he will let the owner know. It has been at least 2 and a half weeks since, and just noticed nothing changed. I strongly advise, DO NOT ORDER THE SAME LIKE I DID. YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF WITH A SMILE FROM THEM. I will never go there again. read more

My hubby asked her to bring me "the biggest margarita on the menu" (I had been under the weather, and I think he wabted to kill the germs with tequila). We've been going here for more than 30 years (really!). Know the owners, relatives pics on the wall, started at their prior location up the street. When our children come into town, it is always the first stop on the way back from the airport, at their request. Obviously we like it a lot. It's not fancy; it's your basic, good neighborhood mex restaurant, with reasonable prices. I don't rate it 5 stars just because I reserve that for some level of culinary wonderfulness. This is merely very good, regular Mexican food. One thing does stand out: their green chili. It's thick, meaty, and *tasty* - not just hot, like many others. (They have a hot version I've not tried.) On a Mexican hamburger, or just a chili plate, it's great. One of my regular orders is the low-carb fajitas with a side of green chili. We regularly get a quart of green chili to freeze and take to friends elsewhere. Also try the carnitas: Tender, well-seasoned, and very flavorful. Comes in large quantities in the carnitas plate or -- I forget their name, but it's kind of like huevos rancheros with a pile of carnitas. Breakfast for someone really hungry. Service is generally fine. Inevitable turnover in wait staff means you might get a yahoo, but bad service is far from normal. Decor - eh, it'll do. Not dressy. At all. Neighborhood, like I said. One relative had them cater their daughter's wedding. I personally wouldn't do that, but it was fine. With luck, we'll be going there for at least another 10 years. read more

I have been in town visiting for two weeks now and this is hands down the best breakfast I've had!! I cannot begin to describe just how delicious everything was. I ordered the steak and egg breakfast with the half and half chili (which I recommended) and it was so savory and good. The chili is out of this world and it wasn't too spicy. Our food came very quick which is always nice too! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the chips they brought us while we were waiting on our food were pretty stale and not tasty at all. The food was average but tasty and the service was excellent, this is what is going to give them a 3 star rating. The green chili was thick but I like it like that, so I can not complain. The chips are not made fresh and likely from a bag and that is a minus and the salsa was decent, unaware if they make this or not. There is ample parking, it has easy access off of Federal Blvd, and the place was clean. I think it is worth a shot. The prices are right as well. As a note, I have been to a number of restaurants that are more authentic than this one. But the food was still decent and as stated the service was exceptional. read more

My wife and I lived in Albuquerque for 20 years and consider ourselves New Mexican food snobs. After moving to Denver, finding Rosita's was a lifesaver. New Mexico food the way we love it (the family running the place is from the Albuquerque area, Bernalillo I think). My family goes at least once a week. When we are in the need for comfort food, this is where we go. When we have friends from out of town, this is where we go. When I'm uninspired and need a killer breakfast to get the creative juices flowing, this is where I go. If one of us is exceptionally hungry, there's no question where to go. If there's better New Mexico style food in Denver, I've yet to find it. read more
