El Jardin is very good. Most authentic Mexican I've had in the Denver area. Chip and salsa off the bat, salsa was amazing. Flavorful with decent heat but not overwhelming. Chips were fresh and crisp with a good amount of salt. I ordered the beef/chicken fajitas and the hot the spot for sure. Even after eating two bowls of chips (cuz why not?!?) I still managed to policy off most of my fajitas since they were so good. I'm from So CA and we have great Mexican food everywhere, El Jardin is on par with the best Mexican restaurants in my home area. We were seated quickly and our server took drinks while we reviewed the good sized menu. Drinks came, we ordered right away and had our food within 13-14 minutes. The place is actually huge. We walked in and thought the bar area and front seating section was decent but she took us towards the back where there was almost a whole other restaurant. I really wish you'd get some different takeout containers because the Styrofoam ones leak so today when I went in and I got my chimichanga and you put it into a plastic bag which I appreciated the container leaked out into the plastic bag so I'm losing some delicious part of my food into a plastic bag. Stopped into El Jardin looking for some good, not fancy, Mexican food. And we found it! Very friendly host greeted us and seated us immediately, even though the parking lot was full. I had the small combination of cheese enchilada, bean tostado, then requested a side of beans instead of the taco that normally comes with it. Husband had the Santa Fe Chicken Skillet -- who declared it should be illegal it was so good. Ate every bite of it. Definitely will be returning to try some of their other offerings. read more

This is out of our way, but we make a trip to come here every so often. We love the ambiance of thelis place it is home and spacious doesn't feel like you are sitting right in top of the next table. Service is always great from when you walk in to the servers. The food let's just say I haven't had anything I haven't loved. One of my guests always gets a stuffed sopapilla with pulled pork which is smoked she loves it, my other guest goes for a chicken burrito he loves them so much sometimes he orders 2, I have had the pork carnitas burrito, the supreme burrito, and I have had my all-time favorite bacon breakfast burrito. The salsa and chips are always great I feel the chips are always fresh. Strawberry margaritas are a go to for me. We will be back time and time again as long as you keep up the great work. read more

Place looks nice and is incredibly clean for such a busy restaurant. Service was great. She was attentive and made sure our drinks were full, chips and salsa were always present. She took out orders and maybe 15 minutes later we had our food. I opted for the Burrito Supreme. It was good. The ground beef was seasoned well, I may ask them to substitute it next time for the asada instead. I've been spoiled by better burrito meats like carne asada, barbacoa, etc. My sister decided on the Chile Fries. They were great! Dad went with the Battered Chile Relleno. He loved it and said that El Jardin was his new favorite spot. Friday at noon for lunch. Parking was easy to find. Business definitely picked up more while we were there. A very big restaurant, looked like plenty of seating! Clean and easy to navigate through the dining area. Noise level was very tolerable as far as we could all hear each other talking, despite the room being full. I ordered the battered chile relleno with hot green chili and a house margarita. The food came out in a very reasonable time and was piping hot! I couldn't tell much texture on the deep fried batter due to the amount of green chili, but I won't complain about that one bit! A very delicious meal and super friendly staff. This place is refreshing all around, thriving, likely because it has remained relevant in this community since 1982. I don't understand why this green chile isn't on any best of lists in local media. This is a big miss in local food writing. On top of that, this is a great human interest story of how this place has remained so popular in this community. Onto the food. In addition to the chips & salsa, we started with the relleniitos. They were very cheesy and filling. It is very unnecessary to opt for an appetizer only because the plates come with a bounty of food. I also think the rellenitos would be better with the green chile. The guacamole was great though. That is a lot of fat on fat for us. Given what I just shared, on a subsequent visit, we couldn't help ourselves so tried the cheese dip. It was unusual but delicious. We rationalized we'd just have more leftovers that would last longer, right? Service was spectacularly attentive all around every time we've come here. Couple that with delicious food that is abundant and fairly priced. The green chile was outstanding, albeit fairly mild even for hot. No complaints. Medium is delicious for me and strikes the balance of light heat, yet flavorful from the pork. My dining companion had the pork chops and loved them. I opted for the steak picado at the recommendation of my server. It was all very good. My steak was a little tough but I wasn't expecting world class steak either. The beans were flavorful, likely made with lard. We both left with big boxes leftovers. Note that on a return trip, the steak was much better. We requested medium rare and that is what we received. Note that the restaurant is much larger than what you'd think when glancing at the building driving by. There is a constant stream of people. Despite this, we have not had to wait for a table whenever we've dined in. And they seem to be busy all of the time. Drive around to the back where the parking lot is to get a direct entrance to the host stand. There is a bar area. I am glad we finally found this place! It is now one of our regular Mexican food jaunts despite the out of the way location in Commerce City. Yes, it is worth the trip! P.S. Sign up for the rewards club. This is my ultimate #1 favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver metro area. They are a very nice, fun staff that runs a gorgeous Mexican restaurant. The food is the best in the west here. Portion size is double to share family style. I ordered the Pina Colada with Pablo's enchiladas and that's what I get every time I come here. The fajitas were at least a pound deep with grilled bell pepper and onions. A side of guac and sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes with tortillas. Everything went well. When we moved to Reunion 18 years ago El Jardin was our first night to go out for dinner. We remembered having gone past this restaurant and decided it was a good place to start. We enjoyed the food so much and it was a family ran traditional Mexican food that had great specials and at the time Thursday was our date night and margaritas were only $3 and most excellent. We met Ben and some if the family and were welcomed from day one. Those first few months every Thursday was El Jardin and sometimes Saturdays or Sundays were El Jardin. They have gone through some transitions and each one has been a great step toward even better. Remodeled, redecorated, and a full bar added along with a side room for special events or diner overflow. The VIP card earns gifts of food or discounts on the bill. You can look and even find other Mexican restaurants in the Denver metro area and some may have a dish you like better than El Jardin or a margarita that you prefer, but with so many things that have received five stars, you will be hard pressed to find any restaurants that come close to the quality dining experience of going to El Jardin. Don't even make an opinion before you have gone three times and ordered different entrees each time then decide if a Dollar or two in price will lead you to a different restaurant whether it be 1 it 2 dollars less or more. The quality, value, variety and service might bring you back for 18 years. read more

The menu is extensive with daily specials, lighter dishes, combinations, burgers, etc. and the service was good. The complimentary chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered the Tacos de Carnitas. The serving was generous with 3 tacos containing a lot of tender shredded pork nicely presented along with rice and beans. However, unlike any carnitas I've had before, the pork tasted strongly of barbecue sauce which ruined the dish. The rice and beans were nothing special. I would consider visiting again, but would not order what is usually a favorite dish of carnitas. read more

The seafood enchiladas was good but I could barely taste the seafood so I wish they either had bigger chunks of crabmeat or bigger shrimp. It was tasty but I wouldn't order that dish again.
