I specifically called Rose Nails the day before my appointment to ask if they offered eyebrow threading. Threading was the only reason I booked there, and I made that very clear on the phone. I was told they could fit me in the next morning. When I arrived, I again stated that I was there for eyebrow threading. A staff member brought me back, had me lie down, and told me to close my eyes. A few moments later, I felt wax being applied to my eyebrow. I immediately stopped her and explained that I had specifically requested threading and did not want waxing. She informed me that they only offer waxing. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. I had called ahead specifically to avoid this exact situation. One eyebrow had already been started with wax, so I couldn't simply leave and go elsewhere without ending up uneven. I explained that to her, but she didn't seem to understand why I was upset. The communication barrier made the situation even more frustrating. After the waxing was finished, my eyebrows were not what I wanted. There was even wax residue left on my face that I had to point out multiple times before it was removed. The entire experience left me feeling unheard and disappointed. To make matters worse, when I went to pay, I was told they only accepted cash. There was no mention of this when I booked the appointment. Conveniently, there was an ATM right by the register where I was told I could withdraw money. Fortunately, I happened to have cash on me. I still tipped because I understand people are doing their jobs, but this experience was incredibly upsetting. I called ahead specifically to confirm threading, repeated my request when I arrived, and still ended up with a service I did not want. I left so frustrated that I sat in my car and cried afterward. I hope the salon improves communication with customers and ensures staff clearly understand and confirm requested services before beginning them. read more

These were my niece's first set of nails, and I wished they were a little more friendly with walking them through their options. Ever had a gel manicure that took 15 minutes? Me either, until yesterday. She was so rushed to get to the next customer she didn't touch my cuticles, and my nails look nothing like I requested. I literally sat in her chair at 11:26am and paid her at 11:40am. I'm all for speed and efficiency, but it was kinda ridiculous. Quite possibly the worst manicure I have ever had done. I had an appointment and I still had to wait 15 minutes. Also, while I was getting my nails done, I heard one of the employees trying to push a customer to get gel over regular polish. I don't care who they are, no one should be pushing more expensive products on customers! I was getting a gel acrylic full set and needed to have my previous acrylics taken off. They started by sanding them and then made me dip my nails in pure acetone for 10 minutes. After my nails soaked the lady began by taking her bare hands and digging her fingernail under my acrylic and trying to peel it off. If you don't know anything about acrylics, they are bonded to your nail with very strong glue, polymer, and monomer. Not only was this extremely unsanitary and unprofessional, it was very painful. How barbaric!! I then got traded off to a male technician, Tommy was his name. He was very rough with the emery board and actually made my nails bleed. He filed my nail beds so thin that you could see blood forming under them. But Tommy kept going. I got traded off to ANOTHER nail tech who gasped as soon as she saw how bad my cuticles were bleeding. She poured pure acetone on them and I honestly thought I was going to pass out from the burning sensation I felt. Next to me was Tommy, who ditched doing my nails to do an older lady's nails. She was wincing in pain and exclaiming "oh!" as Tommy filed her nails. Seriously, who is this guy??! The end result is very good, but the steps getting there was the problem. My nails are sore and aching. This place is unprofessional and insensitive. Save yourself time and money and just go to Lindsey's. read more

I stopped in for a shoulder massage because once I got my nails done and they do a nice massage and I had a stiff neck. I guess it depends on who you get. What I got that day could not be called a massage. There was no strength behind it, it served to annoy my muscle more than soothe. I asked her to do it harder and concentrate on just neck and shoulders but she didn't either understand me or she didn't care. I left early but they still charged me for the full time. They also never bothered to ask why I was leaving early. I would have had more fun throwing that $23 out the window. Aggravating waste of time. Do not go here for a manicure! !! I finally grew my nails and first thing I said was I dont care that they are different lengths, just keep them long. The owner cut them all off, did not trim my cuticles and painted half my nail white and gave me the ugliest french manicure. No no no! Do NOT go here. I went in for a full set and pedicure. Pedicure was fine. But the full set of acrylics was a nightmare. First I showed him the length and shape I wanted. No joke, he looked at the picture for .5 seconds. I didn't want anything crazy, I just didn't wanted square/round tips. He filed both ring fingers until I bled. I was visibly bleeding. He didn't say a word to me or stop. The shape of my nails are totally uneven. I'm just upset I paid a total of $75 for a pedicure and nails that I am not happy with. Went to Rose Nails today, have been going for a few years off and on, today my nail tech took a chunk out of the side of My thumb with the dremmel, I was bleeding quite a bit, he put something on it, a green liquid, and then wrapped my nail with cotton soaked in acetone with of course burned like hell, he finished my nails but never cleaned the tools, those tools had blood on them, how many other times has this happened, I have no disease , but what if someone before me did, not sanitary at all, and still charged me full price. read more

But the woman (who I'm assuming is a manager or owner) was very aggressive about tips. I paid cash and gave her the exact amount, and she was like where's the tip. I like to give the tip directly to the person who does my nails and she asked about it twice. I finally had to tell her I'd take care of that myself. It was very uncomfortable. I've been to Rose Nails twice while I was visiting Canandaigua and have had wonderful service- professional, gentle, and a great value!

After I picked out a color the man doing my nails, Kevin asked what shape. I replied oval. When he started glueing the tips on, he was glueing them almost 3/4 down my nail. I have gotten full sets for a decade and all the places I've been to only glue the acrylic just below the tip. After he was done glueing all of the acrylics on, he cut them to the length I requested. Then looked at me again and said what shape? I again said oval. His entire demeanor shifted and told me the nails were too short for oval. Had he not glued the tips almost the entire length of my fingernail they would have been fine. He asks how I would like to proceed. I replied by saying he could remove them. He proceeded to throw a tantrum. I soaked my nails for a few minutes waiting for the tips to come off. After they were somewhat off he removed my hands, filed them and then tried wiping them off with paper towel. The nails did not remove all the way but he got up and walked away, gesturing that he was done. I got up and left. The woman indicated I did not need to pay. When I got to my car I looked at the nails he had left me with, which are in far worse shape than I came in with. There is remaining glue, and fragmented pieces of nails he did not remove. I would not recommend this place. The mistakes made today were by staff, yet the customer was made to feel in the wrong. read more

Then when doing my nails she cut my finger. She then left me sitting waiting for 10 minutes with no explanation and then out comes a very grumpy man named Kevin. Kevin then proceeded to burn my fingers with the little drill they use for acrylics. I told him he was burning me and every time I flinched he rolled his eyes and gave me a horrible look. When the torture was over I tipped them $8 and he goes "is this it?" And just stares at me. After that he takes me to let my nails dry and says nothing. I sit at the table for about 20 minutes and nobody says anything to me!!! So I got up and walked out myself. Had a wonderful manicure today at Rose Nails, walk in and they were very accommodating. Had old gel nails that needed to be removed and new gel nails done. Stated with one women and then Kevin finished and did a wonderful job on the French tips ( best every had done) and finished by third women who cleaned them up and did wax hand dip, which was very nice and unexpected, and a nice heated neck massage (also unexpected). I have been to this place a handful of times and had mostly good experiences. I recently went on 7/7 for a uv gel fill, a woman started my fill but passed me off to another employee. Nobody asked me what color I wanted or what shape I wanted. The guy doing my nails was rude and made me feel like I was asking for too much, he appeared to be annoyed that I wanted a French tip fill and he was also visibly annoyed when I asked him to round my nails. I felt that he was so impolite that I would not leave a tip. He stopped my in front of the entire salon and questioned why I did not leave him a tip, when I said I was unhappy with the way he treated me him and another worker laughed at me. The employee who did my nails was wearing a name tag with ANDY on it but the salon refuses that an Andy works there. I am sad to say I will not be returning here. Do better. read more
