NY style for you newbies is hand-tossed, thin-crust with shredded mozzarella and a light layer of tomato sauce, usually sold by the slice. Rosa's has been an ATL staple since 1990. Parking? Fuhgetaboutit! Pay and park a few blocks away or walk if you're in the area. It's close to 5 Points station. The interior is tiny and humid with about three small tables so most get it to go. Walls are lined with "authentically signed" pics of the Sopranos and Scarface. I was impressed when the office had the pizza catered. Just enough cheese, crust and pepperoni to satisfy a cheat day. It's pre-cooked, topped and heated when you order, ideal for fast food. Salad is pretty good too. Friendly staff and decent prices considering the area. $2.80 for a cheese slice, $1+ extra per topping. Today's 2 sausage slices were disappointingly lackluster. Crust was thinner than usual and it was bland. And I wasn't full after but my appetite is a bit extra. We'll likely have it catered again but I'll stick to pepperoni. Enjoy! read more

Solid and affordable NY style pizza spot in downtown! Walked to here from Centennial Park and enjoyed the quick bite. There's not much seating inside, so most people were taking it to-go. Pizza comes out HOT - wished the crust was a little firmer, especially towards the tip of the pizza because it was quite flimsy, but definitely hits the spot. Overall I would rate this place 2/10. I placed an order online, it said it will be ready 20 minutes later. So I arrived 20 minutes later and ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes for my food. All I ordered was spaghetti and a drink!Over 20 customers came in and got their food before I was even acknowledged. As I finally get to eat my food it tastes like nothing.. literally nothing!! The noodles, the sauce, the meatballs, and the bread had no flavor. Honestly the only good thing about this was the drink. The side salad was a few pieces of lettuce with one single cucumber and tomato on top.. I get you guys are very busy and have a lot going on but this is just crazy. One of things about me is I love promoting a mom/pop business. I've heard all good things about Rosa's Pizza including their signature New York style pizza. Rosa's pizza slice is very large & filling. Since I was pretty hungry that day I got two slices. One with just plain cheese the other one with chicken, mushroom & spinach. I thought the spinach would be fresh but it appeared to already cooked spinach. It did compliment the pizza well so I had no issues with it. The food was good & the best replica of NY pizza. This place is a take out joint but there's seating in the back. For those coming here for the first time watch your surroundings, there's a bunch of homeless people who linger around the front asking customers to buy them food. The significant other and I stopped here after the Atlanta Science Festival for lunch. He remembered Rosa's Pizza from back in the day when he was a teeny weeny student. :) Don't judge this place by its cover bc the health rating, B, will probably not be inviting -- nor the cracks and cranny of this place. But, the food was cheap and pretty delish. You can order by the slice or a whole pizza. And as for the topping choices, you can add whatever and how ever many your heart desires, and you will be charge according to the topping amount. The pizza slice is huge btw -- see my pic -- so committing to one or two of that is enough. The mushroom and ground beef pizza slice he ordered was pretty yummy. I wanted something different and got the cheesy calzone (it comes standard with cheese inside). I added ricotta cheese (don't recommend), sun dried tomatoes (yes! please), and spicy sausage into the calzone. Man, was that thing super duper cheesy when you get to the middle bottom. I just got back from Manhattan so their pizza is still just fresh in my mind. I had some horrible pizza in NY and good slices but they were all at least $3 a slice. Rosa's starts a $2.20 which is amazing. I did see a 0.99c pizza walking around in NY but I was somewhat hesitant to go inside. Rosa's is my favorite NY style pizza in Atlanta. I remember coming here frequently as a student because of their price. The price is still great and the pizza is still good. I like making pizzas at home but I could never get the thin crust NY style right. Rosa's has all the toppings I want. I went with mushroom and sausage. My fiancé got a calzone with sausage and sun dried tomatoes. I think I paid $10 for both of us. Would I come here again? Yes. Parking sucks but I would stop by if I were in the area. Omg, how could I have missed this place?! I went to GSU for 2 years and never stopped by. Idk what authentic new York pizza tastes like but all I know is after eating this, I'm ready to book it to NYC. They have a $6 special, 2 slices of pizza with 1 topping and a drink. Waaaay too much food unbeknownst to me. I got one slice with ground beef crumbles and one slice with spinach. He added my toppings on some cheese pizza then pushed the slices into the oven. So I ordered delivery to my office from here the other day because some people in the office rave about them. I odered 5 large pizzas for my department and was told on the phone the building told them that they can not go upstairs, so I would have to meet them in the lobby. I thought that I could meet them in the lobby and escort them up since security would see 5 large pizzas was not light. The guy I arrived, I met him downstairs and he had the pizzas on a cart. The lady at security told him that he could go upstairs and that they get food deliveries all the time and that is not the buildings policy. So from what I gathered, it's the restaurants policy. I signed the credit card receipt and left a nice tip, so I asked him to please help bring the pizzas up, he obliged. So now to the pizzas, they were exactly what I ordered, but unfortunately no one was impressed. The slices were huge, so I suggest getting it double sliced if you order a large.Something was missing, but we couldn't put our finger on it. The white pizza was my favorite. read more

Two days ago, I went to Rosa's Pizza (located by Georgia State University) and ordered a pizza. While eating, I noticed that the toppings were falling off (I was okay with that). Later, I found a bug near the pizza. Today, I went back to the restaurant to request a refund. However, the staff member I spoke to said that I needed to show them the box with the bug inside, and I had a video of it, which they didn't want to see and accept. I threw away the box with the bug as soon as I noticed it. I couldn't return to the restaurant on Monday because it was closed, and on Tuesday, I was busy. Now, on Wednesday, they are telling me that I can't get a refund because I don't have the box with the bug in it. Do they expect me to keep the box with the bug in it for two days? This is unacceptable, and absolutely disgusting. The person who I was talking to didn't show any remorse and didn't apologize for the incident instead, he kept harping about the pizza box the bug was in. Made a quick pit stop on my way home to get a slice of pizza. I will admit that I am a pizza "snob" (in the best possible way LOL). Honestly, I have more than one Yelp rant about the beauty of authentic New York style pizza and Rosa's comes close for Atlanta. Since I'm recently returning from a trip home and was in NYC, there are still some things that are missing for me and its glaring. Super sorry to say, believe me...this hurts, but true. For example, I need the crispy crust that should occur after reheating that single cheese slice. Today's slice was thin, looked crispy, but too soggy for my taste. Please, also give me the fresh mozzarella--it matters. That will make the slice properly greasy, not "greasy" greasy...hahaha, there's a difference. Plus, the sauce has to be the boss...which apparently happens with the right combination of tomatoes and seasonings (according to my favorite pizza spot in NYC) which happens to have the best sauce I've tasted. I won't name the place here, but refer to my other reviews. Anyway, I was happy-ish after my pizza pit stop and the folks here are super nice. Thank you Rosa's for selling pizza "by the slice" and for making one of the closest versions of a traditional New York style pie that I've found in ATL. A few tweaks would really set this pizza off, but it may not be worth it in the South since there are just so many alternatives. I realize a lot of my fellow Northerners, and specifically New Yorkers, have left glowing reviews. Don't hate me and No shade, but we've been away from home too long. Go back and happily eat a few slices (from a great pizza shop, because we know that every NYC pizza place is not banging--be honest LOL). The closest pizza I have had to NYC since I moved here from the north. It's what you expect from a northern style slice. It is thin, gooey, and has plenty of sauce. I must say though, lately I have been here on days where the cheese felt...tough? I think they may be trying to cut corners with the mozzarella. Note to owners: Use fresh mozz, and shred it yourself!
