They appeared to be operating separately, but we chose the newer restaurant. It was a Saturday night and there was a band playing. We sat in the bar past the entertainment, which was good because we were not overwhelmed with sitting right next to a live band and speakers. We were able to talk and enjoy your evening. They sat us next to a window and the view was five stars + . It was absolutely beautiful to hear the ocean and see the sunset. I ordered a pepino margarita and it was delicious. We ordered fried oysters ( had never had these before) and a ceviche for appetizers. Both appetizers were well done and tasted good. My main entrée was the seafood soup/caldo de mariscos. The broth had a little kick to it and there was a large assortment of the seafood. It was really good and I would order it again. There was a LARGE crab leg and a portion of lobster as well. I was really impressed with the crab leg. I have never had that much meat from a crab leg. It was delicious . We also ordered a fish dish, which was recommended by the waiter. It was good and the fish (curvina) was excellent, not overcooked or undercooked. The only setback on the fish dish was the mashed potatoes. They seemed a little cold when the dish came out. The only other setback were the corn tortillas. Somehow they didn't hit the mark on freshness and taste. We travel a lot to various restaurants in the region and most of the time the tortillas are freshly made. We do have a high standard when it comes to homemade tortillas. These tortillas did not impress. The dessert- chocolate cake. Stater Bros. or CaliMax would have been better. No rating for the dessert The waiter was attentive and provided space which I like. He made sure we had everything we needed. Visit Splash and post your experience

On the…read moredrive down to La Misión I saw the sign for this place & thought it was an actual halfway house, but turns out its name is a reference to the fact it's located halfway bet'n Rosarito & Ensenada. First things first: ignore the menu, just ask Chef Johnny what he's got & let him do his thing. A lot of times they don't have what's on the menu so you're kind of wasting your time by choosing. We had had ribeye with a red wine demi-glace that was quite good, and fish "mojo de ajo" (with butter & garlic) that was better. Each came with a small baked potato (just the right size) and some veggies that were OK. Dinner included a tortilla soup that I was told was OK and a Caesar salad with very fresh baby Romaine and an eggy dressing. The made-to order guac was OK, but I think they put mayo in it so the avo taste got kind of lost. The chips were tasty (freshly-made) but the "salsa" was a ton of tomatoes with a few onions, not really notable. Chef Johnny once cooked for the President of Mexico; these days he lives in a trailer next to the restaurant with his wife and cooks mostly what he wants. He came out to our table & I had a great conversation with him; he's very passionate about being happy and doing what he wants and it seems to be working for him. The dude can sing, too; he's got a terrific voice & if you ask him he might croon you a tune or two. He's certainly a character and a good guy. There's a full bar and first thing you notice is they allow smoking, unlike in the States. The room is nice but nothing spectacular, and the service is attentive and friendly. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
