Our friend Carlos referred us to this spot when it had recently opened. The vibe is super chill, the people are really cool and according to my hubby, the food is fantastic. I'm allergic to seafood so on our first visit i just waited while he ate. Next thing I know, the server comes in with a plate of tacos from next door! Awe! We are here again and have been coming for a few years now. Food is gorgeously presented every time and I know it's amazing because hubby had us here twice in one weekend and everytime we come out here we make time to stop by. If you're looking for the absolute freshest food, full of flavor, for a decebt price, come to this spot!! Great selection of beer. Crispy chips and bomb salsita. Just do yourself a favor and come on out, you won't be disappointed

This place is AMAZING! The beer selection is incredible and the food is super delicious. The best ceviche campechana! So fresh and well seasoned! The most amazing fish tacos with a delicious spicy salsa. The best shrimp tacos, we had the regular ones and camarones enchiladas and both are so good and so so fresh. Please visit this place and fall in love the way we did! Service is amazing and ambience is amazing!

Really delicious unique food! Large selection of beer too. However there was a very strong smell at first that I didn't enjoy. I think they were burning sage which is not my thing

Also tried the grilled fish tacos seasoned nicely.

We waited by the Bar near the entrance for 25 minutes while all three waiters ignored us, made eye contact, checked their phone and took pics . Another Paton at the bar walked over to us and said they her grandchildren were sitting at a table which was empty except for a few sweatshirts so she removed them and said we could have the table, which was a very nice gesture that we appreciated. We continued to wait for another 10 minutes or so until we had enough with being ignored we left and went to another place and were seated and not ignored, a great meal by the way. My Brother in law was with me along with my son and my nephew. I had seen this place recommended by "The Boredom Report " ( JT my apologies but your guy here is out of line) many times and was excited to try this place as I always am when in Baja. Unfortunately, this place dropped the ball. My Brother in law left a review on yelp approximately 20 minutes or so after our visit and was sent a rather rude and racist message by someone named "Noel' stating that Mexico was in the World Cup and that they were playing in Mexico along with that we were I can't remember if it was Dumb or Dirty Americans so I'm going to go with Dumb for this one, "Dumb Americans" that need to educate ourselves on the Mexican culture and such. Well I'll say this, I too have been in Baja for over 40 years, Noel and never have I had any establishments in Baja ever ignore any customers until last night. If myself and my family didn't love, respect Mexico or its people and culture we would never go south of the border and be ignorant to anything having to with Mexico. But, since you are obviously more focused on Football instead of your business I would imagine that you might not last long with that mindset. Also Noel, please feel free to explain to me or anyone for that matter why you choose to run an American style Microbrewery and Sushi Restaurant and not a traditional restaurant in Baja? Could it be you're were attempting to attract a certain Dirty and or Dumb Americans? Also, please explain me and all that read this how to educate myself on "Mexican Culture'' when you're attempting to mimic two different cultures and yet have no idea on anything related to customer service. Please continue to Just throw out something racial and derogatory to cover up for you and your staffs shortcomings because racism has become a form of needing attention and not truly the issue at hand these days. Perhaps next time any "Dumb Americans" walk in to your place why don't you just refuse service, oh wait you do that by ignoring them and giving a racist rant on culture and education. instead of actually dealing with your staff/business issues. Now I've made some mistakes before with reviews and I generally give a place a few chances to rectify things as I know running a restaurant/business isn't easy and there are things that are out of people's control so I will update things when I return. As I believe this is the only true way of giving a honest and legitimate review. Perhaps next time you post a response you should also remember that there is an e-mail that is sent with your same response to the person that posted the review.Simply changing your response online doesn't change the initial email, and saying "you were busy" isn't an accurate description in this instance. Nice try. TO NOEL I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE AS LING AS I LIVE! I WILL MAKE IT MY MISSION TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW THAT VISITS BAJA TO NEVER GIVE YOU ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU TREATED US. SIGNED: "THE DIRTY AMERICANS'

We have been to many restaurants here at Puerto Nuevo the higher priced restaurants to the ones that offered the best deal. As a family we spend our Thanksgiving holiday having lobsters instead of Turkey, and when we first tried La Escondida last year, it was because they offered 4 halves of lobster for $20.00 USD. This year it was a no brainer and we went straight to this location again, however we noticed on the menu it was 3 halves for $33.00 USD so my son, our Spanish interpreter asked about the deal we got last time we visited and our waitress honored the same deal. So Pro Tip is ask if they will give you that special pricing. The way I see it is even if they are slightly smaller, there is no restaurant in the U.S. that you can get two whole lobsters with unlimited tortillas, rice, beans and chips & salsa for $20.00 each. I can get two orders for myself and it would still be better than what I can get in California. Maybe next year I'll see if someone is willing to beat that deal. If the weather is good, ask for a table outside in their covered patio overlooking the ocean.

Big Lobsters, Great Service... But the Flavor Never Arrived…read more If you're looking for an honest review, this one is a mix of highs and lows. Unfortunately, I won't be returning unless some things change. For now, I'll stick with my usual lobster spot where I know exactly what to expect. I'm an experienced lobster eater at least 2-3x's a month. I especially am familiar with Puerto Nuevo style being a San Diegan. We visited on a Friday around noon with a large group, and the restaurant was otherwise quiet. The staff was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and quick to serve. Service was easily one of the strongest parts of the experience. We started with the fish taco appetizer. It was underwhelming, and I didn't even finish it. The chips and salsa, however, were absolutely delicious. My margarita leaned heavily on the "marga" and forgot about the "rita." It wasn't well balanced. This is why I am pro shots. Never disappointed. The entertainment was good. The mariachi played at just the right volume so you could still enjoy a conversation, and later a jazz musician performed who was incredibly talented. The fresh tortillas deserve their own applause. They were soft, flavorful, and far better than your average restaurant tortilla. Now for the lobster. Visually? Wow. These were some of the biggest lobsters I've ever seen. Since we were a large party, plate after plate came out with huge, impressive lobsters. But looks can only take you so far. The lobster itself was surprisingly bland. The meat was tough, dry, and lacked any flavor lobster lovers expect. Even the drawn butter tasted more like unseasoned melted margarine than butter. Thankfully, I carry Trader Joe's Chili Lime Seasoning in my bag because it was the only thing that made the lobster enjoyable. Without it, I honestly don't think I would have eaten much of it. I did leave half. The refried beans were actually delicious, although I personally don't eat lard, so knowing they contained it kept me from fully enjoying them. And the lobster can likely be cooked in lard what the succulent seasonings can mask it. Not this time. The dining room also needs some attention. The white chairs with decorative ribbons would be beautiful if they were clean. Every chair at our table was soiled and gave me the shibbee geebees. I covered mine with a sarong I happened to have with me. The restroom was the biggest disappointment. I understand the local plumbing system requires toilet paper to be disposed of in trash bins, but those trash bins need to be emptied frequently. The odor was overwhelming. I literally had to hold my tummy to avoid vomiting. Overall, I truly wanted to love this experience because there were several things the restaurant got right: outstanding service, great live music, excellent fresh tortillas, and delicious chips and salsa. Right now, the service is carrying the meal, and that's simply not enough for me to make a return trip. "When you're known for lobster, the lobster has to be the star."

Luckily, Siete Mares was a solid backup option. The restaurant has three floors, each with a different vibe. The first floor is quiet and relaxed, the second floor is pretty hot with no open windows for fresh air, and the top floor has a norteño band that sounds amazing but is super loud--definitely not the best for conversation. My family chose to sit on the bottom floor, where we enjoyed a nice cool breeze and a great ocean view. There's a small outdoor balcony, but it's only big enough for small groups. I started with a strawberry margarita, which was just okay--not much flavor. Then I tried a michelada with Dos XX beer and a Tajín-rimmed glass, and it was delicious! Definitely the better choice. For food, we had the lobster, stuffed shrimp, breaded shrimp, carne asada quesadilla, and rice with beans. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out as amazing. What really made the experience enjoyable was the great service! The staff was super attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Overall, it was a good experience, especially with the ocean view. I'd come back to have a michelada and listen to the Norteño band.

Although it's not the comfiest place to kick it for three and a half hours for a race, it was a really good experience, and the owner, Karen, is an AMAZING mixologist!!! There were six of us and we sat at the bar facing one TV she set up for us to watch the race on. There was one other group on the other side of the bar, about eight of them, I think. Everyone was eating and drinking and I, being the DD, was only allowed to have one drink per hour BOO. But, I made the most of it. Karen REALLY knows how to make an old fashioned and when I asked her to make one with her best Mezcal, she did and it was FABULOUS. My bestie, wanted a Mezcal cocktail, too and Karen made her one with apple and jalapeno that she loved. The boys drank giant beers. We also tried out some nachos, wings and my dad got a baked potato. The potato was the only disappointment in the experience because it was on the hard side, but otherwise, we had a fun afternoon and really enjoyed getting to know Karen. Its right next to Puerto Nuevo, so a nice place to have cocktails before your lobster dinner and ask Karen to make you something delicious. She really is awesome. Also, if you have some sports memorabilia you're letting go of, a donation helps this SPorts bar have a lot of fun decor to look at. They even have a front bumper of one of Joey Logano NASCAR Fords.
