The last supper with the best of the golden age of Mexican cinema

Surreal place. Had to check it out. Didn't get to meet the legendary Ricky, but still had a good time.

RRRRRRRRRRICKY-EEEEEEEEE After meeting up with my lovely expat friend and her date; they suggested they take us to Ricky's Place. They told us all about him so when I walked in I yelled Ricky like I knew him. Pinche chonies & bras hanging everywhere, us currency hanging on the walls with names, knick knacks galore. I fricken loved it! Had my brother climb the stripper pole, he made it to the top on his 2nd time. He said it's a ball crusher. Ricky is a fierce AF host! He brought us snacks, cheered us, danced with us, told us great stories. I felt I was at my Tio's house. He does have a home up the hill but he's here even if there is one person. He will not close the bar until the last person leaves even if it's 5am He does have a little room upstairs he can sleep in, if need be. My brother loved this guy, also his first time to Rosarito Beach. He said, I'm coming back and I need to visit Ricky again.

There is no such thing as a dull night at Ricky's. Super friendly, quite colorful, Ricky is full of laughs and will keep you entertained for hours if you let him. Full of of stories of the glory days and the famous Hollywood folks who have been his customers, he will also show you his photo featured in the 2015 Calendar of sexiest men in Rosarito. Just ask. Trust me, you will love seeing it. And yes, even at the age of 70+ years old, he is damn good looking. This is the place where you will find that provocative, raunchy shock factor that real, divey Mexican bars are known for, but done in such a fun loving way. He is a really special owner. This is the place to experience a piece of Baja history.

    Love the margaritas!!!

I am not sure why I waited so long for this review !! This is hands down one of the best small joints in rosarito . Came here for my bday oct 2018 and Ricky really made my bday a memorable one!!! Drinks are strong and they even have karaoke. Nice friendly staff besides Ricky as well !!! Plan to return oct 2019 !!! My bf also enjoyed himself even got on the pole lol too bad I cant add the video lol

Another sign on the Free Road that can't be missed. About 5 miles south of downtown Rosarito.

Ricky's bar seems like a Mexican bar from the 1980's with relatively impressive sound system. It is very quirky and seems weird at times. There are Halloween decorations and a X-mas Tree, random signed dollar bills, ladies underwear and bras on the walls. We know some who have contributed over the years. Then comes Ricky, a man with a full Afro and a cowboy hat. He has a distinctive laugh that makes everyone crack up. It sounds like the ill-advised cross breeding of a donkey and a hyena. When you meet Ricky, you immediately think he must be a cartoon character that you saw one time. Ricky can go up and down the pole all night long! The crowd continuously cheers him on! Here is a short clip of his act. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U3QcNtnfKk Ricky has been operating for over 20 years and pleasing his customers with his unique hospitality. He runs a full bar and there is a nice outdoor area where you can sit during the Spring and watch whales migrating back north. Bring your own food, because Ricky doesn't have any. The location on the Yelp map is wrong, even after I fixed it. It is about 2 KM further south from Popotla.

Ricky's place is the best dive bar in Northern Baja California. Cheap beer, plenty of tequila and a great time. Look for the store front sign of Ricky with a thumbs-up between Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo and you've arrived. Upon entering the bar it's dark, the ceiling and the walls are filled with dollar bills signed by passersby. You can't miss the stripper pole set up near the bar - give it a swing. The outside patio with an ocean view was perfect to enjoy endless buckets of cerveza mexicana on a sunny afternoon. But, the real gem is Ricky himself. He's the owner and works the bar everyday. His style is epic, his laugh is unforgettable, but his life lessons are priceless. As told by Ricky himself "live your life!" Thank you Ricky for a great time! I'll see you soon!

Ricky was sweet. Drank a shot and enjoyed Indio beer (amber). Ricky can relate to everyone... all extremes of people. Fun place!

Great conversations... friendly... fun! Shots and Indio beer for us. Seems Ricky can relate to everyone and anyone. Really nice guy!

The view from the patio out back, paradise.

The service is incredible! Ricky and his family are the best! Great drinks, even better vibes. If you're in Rosarito you HAVE to stop at Ricky's!!

This is one of those must visit places in Rosarito. Ricky, the owner, is really friendly and welcoming. You can tell from the interior decorations that this place has had some fun times over the years. The appetizer menu is surprising good and the drink prices are reasonable. One of my favorite places in Baja...

what an awesome little spot just off to the side of the street. it sits on the corner of the side…read moreroad to which we turn in to get to Casa Encinares B&B. It's an outdoor wooden shack, no doors. we noticed it because there was a sign that said "beer" and we saw lots of people there. our host at the B&B told us we must try it before we leave, so we did. as soon as we sat down at the bar, a big tall gentleman came to greet us. he spoke perfect english and made some awesome recommendations. BF had a couple of beers (cant remember what they were, but i believe it was local), and because i wasn't planning on drinking more (we just got done with a small winery tasting tour), but Chris recommended i try the cocktiel de guayaba, its a bourbon cocktail with guava! It was only 40 pesos and if the owner recommends me.....why would i refuse? we were super hungry so we wanted something light and Chris recommended the pulpo ceviche (100 pesos). My drink was ridiculously tasty as i am a huge guava fan and the bourbon balances the sweetness of the guava with the liquor. the pulpo (octopus) ceviche was wonderful and delicious with just the right portion and served with thin tortilla chips. Chris was so kind and chatted with us almost the entire time we were there. i HIGHLY recommend stopping by here for a quick drink and light bite even if you are here to explore the wines in this wine country. my only mistake was that we came here after having drank so much already from visiting all the wineries!

They were open on time at 10 am with the game on the tv. Staff was very nice, bartender named Rachel told me they don't have food or coffee but I can go get some and bring it in. So I did. Very locals bar. Everyone seemed to know each other and they were welcoming. Saw at least 4 puppy dogs which were very cute. Decent selection of beers. Some microbrews mostly major label stuff. The Pacifico tap was having issues but hopefully that's fixed now. They were doing a betting pool for the SB which is fun. Also looks like they are doing a chili cook off for whoever signs up.Nice little friendly dive bar.

Ambiance: Watering Hole follows the typical local bar vibe of a jukebox, pool table, and bar area. We came on a Saturday night and there was a decent amount of people. Drink-wise: Draft beer is affordable around $7. I didn't purchase mixed drinks so can'r speak on that, but they likely aren't back breaking on the price. Service: there was one bartender working the night but he was quick and efficient with everyone. In summary, the Watering Hole is a solid dive bar. Nothing crazy to offer which isn't a bad thing. Just a simple, nice local bar for people to hang out, talk, and have fun.
