We found this little hole in the wall place just a block from Taco El Yaqui because TEY was closed when we tried to go for lunch (on a Thursday). This place, called Mariners only does seafood - tacos, ceviche, and specials they don't put on the menu. The parents ran a restaurant in Puerto Nuevo for more than 20 years, and then their kids opened up this little spot with the same recipes.
It was outstanding.
We had fresh mixed seafood ceviche to start, a beer/clamato drink that is spicy and sweet, and two things not on the menu: Quesadilla with fresh caught marlin and a chile rellano with marlin. They also brought us hot, fresh from the grill tortillas that were so yummy. Truly memorable for its freshness. Locals were seated at the bar, and their was a communal picnic table out front - room for about 20 people max. The service was warm, friendly and helpful, and the owner spoke perfect English. I would highly recommend this spot if you are in Rosarito and want something off the main drag that isn't crawling in touristas. read more
