Again we ended up at Roots in Naples on a Sunday evening after 5. This time we had pineapple jalapeno margaritas and the most amazing fries with salt and Dill just to make sure they're well done to make them crispy and they are delicious. I usually get the roots burger for dinner because it's amazing and so good and my fiance pretty much always gets the sweet potato black bean burger.. and of course for dinner we always have the pineapple jalapeno margarita. :-) We are so happy that they started opening after 5 on Sundays.. a lot of times our trips involve going to Naples on a weekend and we love going to Roots and the wine tasting on the premises. It's also not far from Monica's grape pies and chicken pot pies which are unbelievable on Route 21 north of the village. Naples is a great place to visit on a weekend and if you want to take a hike through Grimes Glen up the creek to the waterfalls and have dinner at one of the wonderful restaurants totally worth the trip. read more

Wonderful place with great food and fresh ingredients. Stopped here for lunch and had the brisket sandwich with fries and the chicken curry salad. Both were fresh and seasoned very well. Hearty portions and sat on the porch which was relaxing. It's located on a main road so you will get truck and vehicle noise which wasn't too bad but did break up conversations, especially when one of the big trucks laid on the horn for about 7 seconds. Parking lot is small but there is street parking, just be careful with little ones since it is a busy street. The ingredients are local and freshly delivered. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Pricing was reasonable and the menu isn't very large but has great variety for a small restaurant. It can fill up quickly though so be ready to wait during busy meal times. There is a winery on the same property so you can do a nice tasting after your meal. Simply divine. From the home and vineyard setting to the eclectic assembly of vintage decor to the welcoming and efficient staff to of course the outstanding food, Roots Café impresses. We got the poutine, pork tacos, and seared tuna. Everything was beautifully arranged and presented. The poutine packs the proper oomph without being too overloaded in cheese. The tacos had wonderful pickled veggies and a nice balance. The tuna was perfectly seared to leave mostly pink meat and nicely seasoned with strong black pepper. The accompanying apricots, summer squash and sauce were all excellent. We'll be back for more :) read more

Funky little spot down in Naples, NY with delicious food and gorgeous views of the nearby vineyard. There is live music, a creative and beautiful menu, and a unique atmosphere. The daily specials are inventive: carrot ginger coconut soup or lemon herb vinaigrette spring salads with rotating and fresh toppings. The buffalo chicken sandwich with shredded chicken and heaping blue cheese is hands down impressive. It comes with dill-laced fries as an extra bonus. My recommendation is to try and score a table on the porch when the weather allows for this. If it's chilly, grab a hot tea and stay awhile. The vineyard view is unmatched, and allows for excellent people watching during the Naples Grape Festival. Just be sure to get here at an "off" time: either early or late for lunch, in order to be seated right away. The line goes out the door during peak festival hours. read more

Four of us dined at Roots on a recent Thursday evening. Kind of rustic farmhouse casual vibe. Attentive service. Good mix of craft beers, local wines and hard liquors. I had one of the best pork chops I've ever enjoyed, The tacos were enormous and tasty. The brisket and stew flawless and generous as well. The downside of our experience: while the prices were reasonable-THEY CHARGED $.93 for ice in a glass of Jamison's whiskey. Water, with ice, was free. Go figure? What an AMAZING little stop. The staff here were genuinely helpful great people. I was traveling through on my way back from a Grimes Glen hike and stopped in for lunch. I was traveling with my 4 legged companion. I asked if I was able to bring her on the porch for lunch and they stated that they were sad to say their policy doesn't allow dogs in the porch but gave an alternative with seating in-between the wine shop and the cafe. This was a nice shaded area with tables and chairs that over looked a grape field. Food was very full of flavor and in a much bigger proportion than expected. Not a great experience for us, probably the most disappointing stop of our trip to the finger lakes. We waited a good 5 minutes for anyone to notice we were waiting to be seated. (And multiple workers walked by us) Once seated, the waitress was nice but not very attentive to our needs. The food took over 40 minutes and all we ordered were salads and a wrap. It was 85 degrees out and I think I got one singular refill on my water the full hour and a half we were there. Would not go again. read more

I had high expectations for Roots based on reviews, etc. but it didn't deliver. It's an eclectic, homey place and super busy when my husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. They do not take reservations, so we had to get on a wait list. The people ahead of us left so we didn't end up waiting too long. My husband had a burger and it was fine. I had the Miso Pumpkin Soba and it was terrible. It did not taste like miso or pumpkin or soba, and there was hardly any cauliflower in it. It was totally overpowered by the sesame seed mixture on top. Just a really odd, bland flavor. I thought maybe it would be better as leftovers the next day but it was even worse. And varied enough that it has something for everyone. There was a great selection of specials as well. I don't think I can say enough good things about Roots Cafe. My friends and I were celebrating for a Bachelorette party and one of the stops on our wine tour was Inspire Moore Winery where Roots Cafe is located! Though this restaurant is small, they were pretty efficient. It was a group of six of us, so when we arrived the host told us to put our name on the list and while we waited we could do our wine tasting at Inspire Moore. This plan worked perfectly! By the time we were tasting our last wine we were informed that our table was ready for us. We were seated outside on the porch which was a really cute area. Our waitress was one of the nicest people I've ever met, she was so sweet! They serve all of the wines from Inspire Moore at Roots Cafe, so since we had just finished our tasting we knew exactly what we wanted to order a bottle of: Harmony. We then put in our food orders, and we didn't wait too long for the food to come out. For my lunch, I ordered the Sweet Potato Black Bean Burger and it was DELICIOUS! I got a kale salad as my side and it was crisp and refreshing, I highly recommend it! Roots Cafe is simply charming. It's one of those places that reminds me of a restaurant that wouldn't be out of place in Stars Hollow, if you think about it. Cute decor, good food, the homey atmosphere of a small town, and luckily for us, Roots definitely fits that bill. I wish that Naples was a little closer, because I'd go here for lunch way more often, though for the sake of my wallet, the distance is a good thing. My two friends and I stopped here for lunch during our adventure at the Grape Festival. By this point, we were pretty hungry and ready for some food. We got there around 12, which turned out to be the perfect time to go (more on this later). We were seated on the porch, overlooking the miles and miles of grapes. It was the perfect day for an outdoor lunch with the perfect view. Ambiance is a big priority for Roots and they do it well. For lunch, I chose the tuna melt flatbread with the seasoned fries and they were outstanding! The flatbread itself was huge and I found myself saving half to take home. The fries, on the other hand, didn't survive lunch and were gone in an instant. Next time I go, I want to try the buffalo chicken sandwich, which looked just as huge and appetizing. Overall, I'd say the food is worth the drive in to Naples, which leads to the only real issue I had... ...our service. Remember how I said we got there at the perfect time? Well, while we were there, the place got packed. We got our food quickly, but the service dropped off massively after that. I know it was a busy day due to the festival, but there should have been better crowd management in place. It took forever to get our check, and there were plenty of people waiting for our table. Roots, consider having more people on staff on obviously busy days. The best part of our lunch? While we were waiting for our check, three old ladies were seated at the next table. Behold, our future, and I wouldn't have it any other way. A very Stars Hollow way to cap off our lunch for sure, don't you think? Even though it is out of the way, I'd love to return to Roots before next year's Grape Festival. With all that charm, how could I not figure out a return trip? A quirky, cozy cafe serving up homemade, locally-sourced dishes! My family stopped for lunch on a Sunday, hungry after some wine tasting, and were very satisfied with the generous portions. Among us we tried three of their burgers (brunch burger, Roots burger, and sweet potato black bean), a massive bowl of chili, and an equally large dish of the breakfast mac and cheese (see pic). The burgers were thick and meaty, topped with a variety of accoutrements and sandwiched with puffy, thick rolls. Other than being a little too tall to bite into, they were delicious. The beef burgers were cooked to medium-rare perfection, and everyone was a fan of the shoestring fries on the side. The breakfast mac and cheese came with mushrooms, and was topped with two fried eggs and breadcrumbs-- delish! Our only complaint about the food was that my dad claimed his chili was "too sweet" (he still finished it). Roots serves Imagine Moore wines (which makes sense, as their tasting room is right next door), a variety of craft beers, and a few cocktails. We all agreed that they could've been more attentive with refilling our waters (a pet peeve of some in our party). Overall we enjoyed the ambiance of the old house with its brightly painted walls and retro tin-topped tables, and left with full bellies. Would definitely stop back when visiting Naples! read more

We were headed to the Finger Lakes to do some wine tasting on Memorial Day weekend, and had stopped at Inspire Moore Winery, which is located right next to the cafe. The cafe is new since we've been to that part of Naples, so we stopped in to take a look and check out the menu. The waitress was so friendly, showing us the dining area and explaining that the menu is based on fresh, local ingredients and can vary depending on what comes in from the local farms on the day. They source local grass-fed beef for their burgers, and also have a vegetarian and vegan alternative. I had the sweet potato-black bean burger with fries. It was delicious, with a nice amount of spicy flavors, but was a little messy to eat by hand. The fries were really good, and are tossed with dill. Other people in my party had the grass-fed burger, which was substantial and deemed delicious. My mother had the flatbread of the day, which contained goat cheese, spinach and caramelized onion. It was fantastic, and was paired with a curried quinoa salad that was a great alternative to the fries. Good cafes can be hard to find in the Finger Lakes/Naples area, and if you're headed for some wine tasting or the grape festival, I highly recommend a stop into this great cafe! read more

TL;DR, the burger was pretty bad anyway. We called ahead and were told we could be seated immediately, got there and had to wait. We were told the daily side was a cucumber and blueberry salad, it was a zucchini and onion salad. When I asked for a burger that was cooked, the waitress asked me if I wasn't sure I really wanted it well done, not medium, as though I did not know what a medium burger looked like. We got lucky with this place. Stumbled upon it after doing some hiking in the area. My wife and I started with a glass of the mulled cider. It was delicious. It was served relatively hot but it could have been hotter for us. Next came the home made mushroom soup. My wife loved it. Wife had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and I had the barbecued pulled pork sandwich both had he pings of meat and toppings. The bonds relatively smalle which may have made the serving seem larger but they were both very good. For sides my wife had the seasoned french fries which she liked and were very tasty and I had some sort of vegetable salad which I was unable to eat because I was full but it looked delicious and healthy. The chips were homemade, and the salsa was excellent. The butternut squash soup was also delicious. The place is very quaint and cozy. Our waiter was polite and helpful. Today we had split pea and ham soup with sour cream and cracked pepper, egg salad with tomato and sprouts on toasted croissant, a phenomenal salad special with greens, sunflower seeds, pomegranate seeds, crystallized ginger, feta, etc with house made lemon passion fruit vinaigrette, and a delicious pizza with spinach, apple, bacon and blue cheese. The crust on the pizza was excellent too. If I was forced to make one criticism, I'd say the pizza had a little too much cheese on it. I'd have preferred a little less so the crust was more prominent. For dessert, we had a layered coconut cake with salted caramel buttered rum! It was so good. Everything is house made and delicious! Seriously. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Roots is in a colorful and funky house with a very casual feel right on main st in Naples, can't miss it. Def recommend if in the area.
