I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. I scheduled my appointment a full week in advance and drove a long distance, only to be told upon arrival that my hair "looked fine" and that my gray hair blended well with my dark hair. This is completely unacceptable. When I booked the appointment, I clearly explained exactly what I needed to the receptionist. If this service could not be provided, I should have been informed before the appointment was confirmed. There is no excuse for allowing a client to travel that far only to refuse service upon arrival. This demonstrates a clear lack of professionalism, communication, and respect for my time. Having my time wasted in this way is both frustrating and unacceptable. Got my haircut appointment cancelled somewhere else and ended up getting a same-day appointment with Eva and I feel like it was destiny this happened. Eva was so sweet and understood the vibe i was going for with my haircut by showing her some tiktoks. I just let her do her thing and whatever she felt like was necessary and the result was amazing. I have never gotten SO many compliments about my haircut before. I am usually indifferent about my haircuts and experience but she made everything about my appointment so extraordinary. She also had a learner observing her work (a student who just graduated hair school and found her via insta) so I knew that Eva was impressive at her job! The cherry on top was their hair products they use (davine) because it feels very light and no harsh chemicals. Another plus is that she educated me about how to take better care of my hair which is something none of my previous stylists have done for me before. Also the vibe at rooted salon is really homey and comfortable. Eva was really easy to talk to as well as the other people in the salon. I just love how they emulate and embody that community aspect of salon culture that I have only read about / watched. Unfortunately, since I waited too long to write this review I cannot remember the name of the stylist who did my hair but she was very very young and fantastic. I met the owner of the salon and she treated me like a queen. Can't knock that ! Since I had a deflated set of tires after driving all over .. I left my car at the car detailing shop next door and I got all my tires pumped up while I was getting my hair done. Pretty much a win-win in my book. Thank you to everyone in this salon who take excellent care of me. Also, the chairs that are specifically for getting your hair washed and conditioned or treated ... those recliner chairs were so comfortable... the owner also brought over a special chair just to put my feet on. Maryann was so nice, easy to talk to and did an amazing job on my hair. Making the appointment was so easy- I did it all online through their website and chose the time that worked best for me. I looked on Google at different hairsalons in the area and I got drawn to Rooted Salon because of the affordable prices and available of instagram page where the pictures of the different hair style/hair balayage were very quality. I looked at a hairstylist named Marianne's work on instagram and was instantly impressed by the balayage she has done on previous customers. And honestly she has been the most knowledgeable and communicative hairstylist that I have ever had. She listens and asks very specific questions to know exactly what I want. In all honesty I had wanted a blonde balayage but she educated me on the risks and how to achieve what I want in multiple sessions. Marianne is truly experienced and knowledgeable in what she's doing y'all. She is quite a perfectionist and wants everything done to perfection, which honestly gave me the peace and reassurance that things will turn out well. And LOOK AT THE STARK CONTRAST IN MY HAIR!! I typically go to Karen Allen in Riverside (I prefer Aveda color above everything else), but I just haven't had the kind of money it costs for either a haircut (especially not a color job) for the past nine months (I see a senior stylist, which adds to the cost, and I have long hair, which also adds to the cost). I was desperate to get a trim after more than 9 months, so I was calling around to see if anything was available. Rooted was available for a walk in, which was wonderful, for only $55 for a wash and cut without styling. Rosie was kind and friendly, and made me feel comfortable and confident in her capabilities. She did exactly what I asked her to (trim off any split/damaged ends, light layering about half an inch from my ends, and some tapering around my face. Rose even styled my hair for me for no extra cost! It looked so smooth and beautiful. When I went to pay, my card wasn't working, and I was so embarrassed! I promised to call with payment as soon as I got home, and I did, but then the card I used wouldn't allow me to add tip. I ended up taking a cash tip two days later. I can't tell you how appreciative I was to have them be gracious and patient with me as I was already so stressed about money. I'll return to Rooted because I appreciated the customer service AND the haircut. Rosie and her daughter, Andrea, the owners, are incredible, and I'd recommend them to anyone! I also appreciated that Rosie recommended my husband come in for an appointment with her son, who cuts men's hair. Maybe we can have a joint appointment some time. read more
