    Savory bowl
    Leah M.

I had the savory bowl and it was so good. I can't wait to try the sunshine bowl next time which is the sweet bowl. Sat outside in the shade & got a drink at the barn to pair. Need a vegan lunch? I am from outside the area and this was a great healthy lunch with a friend!

We stopped through the Barn (amazing spot) for lunch and per strong recommendation stopped at Rootbound. I ordered the Farmers Market, a salad that boasted a truckload of veggies and orange vinaigrette. We placed our order and waited about 10 minutes, not bad. Our number is called, and the salad arrives. And this is a SALAD. It's seriously stacked, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The combo of flavors was lovely, and the large was good sized. The one thing I'd say is that $17 is a bit much for salad... but this one was worth it.

I was looking for a salad option this weekend and noticed Rootbound had a few options. I ended up with a small Farmers Market. The salad was amazingly refreshing with crisp, bright veggies and spring mix, and topped with a VERY yummy dressing. Not huge, but to me it was worth the money. The Barn location is great of course, and service was very friendly!

    Food truck!

Delicious vegan food truck in the ever-popular Sisters, OR. It's part of a larger food truck pod at The Barn which features Mexican, pizza and other fare. The salads and sandwiches at Rootbound are incredibly fresh. I loved every bite to be completely honest. I sometimes get bored halfway through a salad but not this time. It is expensive but I felt that the cost was fair for the value. Big portions of quality food. Not too shabby!

Always fresh and delicious! Yummy local ingredients. My favorite place to eat in Sisters!

Absolutely one of the best vegan meals I've had. It's difficult to do a vegan nacho well, and they surpassed any and all expectations! That cilantro lime sauce was incredible, the whole plate was absolutely stacked. Well worth the price! I can't wait to come back for more.

New food truck at The Barn in Sisters. Vegan food but very tasty! As a local here, happy to have them. Had the Sunshine bowl and the flavors were spot on. Sauce was unctuous ,beans and rice were yummy, more grilled pineapple please. Price for what you get is very high - $16 for a small bowl and I got the tofu upsell add on for $3 which resulted in 7 tiny cubes of tofu.(!?) Also the black beans were cold ( maybe on purpose?) and the coconut rice very very clumpy. So - flavor is a 5 star but value maybe 3 stars and have some kinks to work out but I'll be back. Felt like they were holding back giving me a full portion in a appropriate sized bowl...

The seating is great, and staff are really friendly, but what stands out is the authentic Nepalese cuisine. I'd recommend: Kids chicken fried rice, paired with the chicken chilli- neither of these are spicy and have a great deal of flavor / it's a fusion of Indian and Chinese food. The Himalayan drunken noodles - this is an Indo-Chinese take on pad-see-ew - there are very subtle hints of Indian curry flavor in them The pork and chicken momos - these are like dumplings, and come with a nice tomato/garlic dipping sauce If you choose to dine in, there are plenty of tables in a spacious room and also outdoor seating. If you're the adventurous type of eater, give this a try / you won't be disappointed!

It was cutely decorated with Nepal art and plenty of tables inside along with bar seating and a very cute outdoorseating area. We tried a berry cider, and my husband ordered the Himalayan hamburger. The hamburger had a meatloaf quality to it with a heavy onion flavor. I had a bite and I liked the flavor, and the fries were good with just a hint of spice. I ordered the chicken curry, and it was ok. I actually like a lot of spice, but this was just a basic curry. I might have been better off ordering the momo platter or interesting sounding onion rings called yeti strings. Service was excellent. I believe the owner talked to us after we seated ourselves and was very pleasant. We ordered at the counter at the bar for drinks and food, and the waitress brought everything and made sure to check on us to make sure everything tasted OK. I wouldn't order the curry again, but I would definitely be interested in ordering the momos or an ap and a drink if in the area again!

We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

After we sat down and started looking over the menu, our very friendly server came to take our order. Before she did, she apologized and told us she had some bad news--they were out of a few items. Unfortunately, it wasn't just a few things; it was almost the entire menu. They were out of bread, buns, and lettuce, along with several sandwiches, including the Reuben. She even asked if we wanted to stay given how many items were unavailable. I had been looking forward to their amazing smash burger, but since they were out of buns, that wasn't an option. Instead, I ordered a parfait bowl with a side of potatoes, and my mother ordered the buttermilk pancakes. This situation is unfortunate not only for the customers, but also for the servers, who are left trying to provide good service despite having so many menu items unavailable. Sadly, this experience was disappointing enough that we won't be returning.
