A couple of weeks ago I brought my wife and friends to the food carts for an early dinner and drinks at Dogwood at the Pine Shed. At that time we were given a couple of samples from The Dominican food truck. I had the Chicharron and my wife was give a Tostones. They were both delicious . I thought the next time I was in the area I would have some Dominican food for lunch . Today was the day for that Dominican lunch. I was given La Bandera as a sample. It was so good I had it as a meal. Marinated Beef, (sticky) rice ,Red bean , tostones, and Dominican Salad. The meat was sooo tender and juicy from the outstanding marinade. The Salad had a vinaigrette that was terrific. The sticky rice and beans were great too! I had a nice conversation with Trisha and Robert the owners. They are both friendly and very informative. 10 out of 10 every single time. This food truck is run by two very humble and kind souls. The vibe here is never jaded. I remember the first time I stopped by this food truck when I first moved to bend, Trish and Robert were very welcoming. They offered a sample of their La Bandera dish and sold me with the first taste. This dish is the signature dish here. It's a beef stew type dish which is very reminiscent of chipotle's barbacoa but in the best way possible. It's served with rice, salad and tostones. If you are unfamiliar with Dominican food I would start out with this. It gives you a little bit of everything. Also the portion sizes will give you at least two meals. I've tried about everything off their menu and haven't been disappointed once. My favorites are the chicken wings, pineapple burger and carne frita. Wonderful food truck with delicious and flavorful food! Service was super friendly and they even provided samples for us and our doggie! We sampled The Bandera (stewed beef with rice and beans) and I'm definitely ordering that next time. We got the Chicharron plate and chicken wings. The chicharron with crispy and juicy - perfect for people who like a little more fat on the meat. Tostones were fried well and nicely dusted with salt and sugar. Rice was also great with some dressing on top. Chicken wings were crispy and moist! I really liked the DR sauce and the flavor of the pineapple sauce (the texture was similar to apple sauce which was interesting). Wow, they are some of the nicest people in town! Even better, they offered a sample. My husband ordered quite the variety so we could try different dishes. 1. La bandera: nicely seasoned stewed beef, beans and rice. Even the white rice had a delicious flavor. Bay leaf maybe? Tastes like comfort food esp good with the cold weather. 2. Chicharron: my son loves pork. I think its pork belly so it has a decent amount of fat. Not meant for those who don't like fatty meat. The pork itself is plain but pairs well with the onions on top. 3. Chicken (not battered) burger: surprisingly good as well. I assumed it would be mediocre but it was tender and has a nice dose of the mayo based sauce Their tostones are good dipped in their sauce. It almost reminds me of thousand island/tartar like sauce. Also, their side salad is more substantial than most spots. It has shredded cheese, cucumber, tomato and croutons. I'd def be back. read more

Voilà!! From the moment Robert placed a sample in our hands, we were sold! Our tastebuds erupted with celebration. Each one of us (6 in all) ordered something unique. Each delicious. Robert has brought the special flavors of the D.R. to Central Oregon. As someone who lived in the Dominican Republic for 3 different winters, it was a treat to meet Robert and experience his food. Oh wow! Everything we tried was delicious from the Papas Supreme with the DR Sauce was unique and oh so good! French fries with chicken and a special sweet, creamy sauce. My favorite was the Bandera meal. Came with a yummy salad, perfect tostones, rice, sweet delicious beans that tasted simmered all day, and absolutely delightful tender, shredded beef in a beautiful sauce. Definitely worth a try! Currently, in my opinion, the best cheeseburger I've had in Bend. I used to crave Zydeco's Major's Cheeseburger when I needed protein/iron but this burger puts all burgers I've had in the last 6 years to shame. Perfect, soft, not too puffy bun, delicious beef -- not chewy or over grilled --and the perfect amount of toppings. Fries were really good 6/10. Burger was 10/10. read more

My husband and I found a new food truck pod today. Dogwood at the Pine Shed is in downtown Bend, at the corner of 2nd Street and Hawthorne Street. There are 7 trucks on site. We went to The Dominican. The owners were very friendly and gave us samples of two of their meals. I chose La Bandera - tender marinated beef, rice, beans, salad and tostones (deep fried plantains - think potatoes but so much better!). My husband chose the Chicharron - slices of fried pork, with rice, tostones and seasoned onions. The Chicharron with seasoned onions is now in the top 5 foods I have ever eaten in my life! We will definitely be going back! The Pine Shed contains some seating and a bar. There are only a few beers on tap or in cans/bottles. There is a full hard liquor bar there with many innovative drinks. There is seating inside and out. read more

I sampled La Bandera which was excellent, decided on La Chiceron as I love pork belly. The meat was fabulous, nicely seasoned and with a nice crunch so not too fatty. The onions on top were really tasty. The tostones were crispy and good to dip in the mayo based sauce. It also came with Rice that had some sort of dressing on top. Definitely recommend, the folks who run the truck were lovely, I wish them a lot of success!! read more

Ummmm... . I haven't seen food like this in Bend so I was stoked to try it. The flavor is insane and the meat was 10/10. I sampled the beef with rice and got the chicken sandwich with plantains.
