I love the carribean and their food. I never thought I would find food like I use to eat in Puerto Rico so close in Bend! I know it's Cuban not Puerto Rican but they share some of the same dishes. We took a trip to Bend, and got a late lunch here before leaving to drive home. Wow! I think this was pretty much our favorite meal of the trip. It's a rather unassuming little place, but the inside felt cozy and welcoming. They have beautiful stained glass lampshades that create a cheerful ambiance, and the walls are festooned with images relating to Cuban culture. We were greeted and helped by a really kind and friendly fellow who was happy to explain a couple menu options we had questions about. We ordered an empanada, tostones, and a Cubano sandwich with a side of sweet plantains. It was all amazing! My favorite item was actually the tostones. I adore savory plantains, and I think these were the best I've ever had. We'd had Cubano sandwiches before, but this one was next level. The empanada was delightful. And we also got these delicious little dipping sauces that paired perfectly. I need to ask about those sauces next time. I haven't had enough Cuban food to give an opinion on "authenticity", but I can tell you everything we had was tasty as hell. The guy who helped us took a great deal of pride in talking about the unique aspects of Cuban cuisine, so I'm willing to bet it's as authentic as you can find in Oregon. It impressed us enough that I can only assume this will be a regular stop for us in Bend; my boyfriend was already talking about what he wanted to try "next time". So glad I finally stopped in the Cuban Kitchen. I've driven past it a multiple times over the last few years but I typically save my Cuban food fix for when I'm visiting family in Miami. However, I will say that the Cuban kitchen is definitely going to be in my Bend rotation whenever I come back. My sister and I dropped in late on a Saturday (20 min before they closed) to place a takeout order because we were starving. Loved the reggaeton they had playing & the owner Chris was super nice. Finding people from my hood / the 305 all the way on the other side of the country always makes me so happy. The food was SO Good. We got empanadas, pan con lechón & ceviche with tostones. They make their Cuban bread from scratch. You can find a lot of fresh breads in WA and OR but never Cuban bread.. & that shit is . All the food was 10/10. At the suggestion of one of the guys on our team, we had a our monthly staff meeting lunch at Cuban Kitchen. What a meal! No one was anything but happy and stuffed when we walked out of there after lunch. Sandwiches, Empanadas and hot sauce were all excellent. The pulled pork that I had on my Cubano Picante was the star of the show. I would have taken a big pile of that pork and the hot sauce and been a very happy camper. The only thing wrong with that sandwich was the ham, which I'm assuming they don't make there. It figures the ham would be just okay because everything else Cuban Kitchen makes in house is amazing. The service was great as well. No one's glasses were empty and we were kept updated on how things were going in the kitchen while the owner (working solo in the front of house) was waiting on 5 tables that came in after we did. You would have not known he was taking care of our huge table plus the 5. The way he handled everything made you feel like you were the only customer in the place. My husband and I really enjoyed Cuban Kitchen! The decor, atmosphere, and food give you a taste of the island all the way from Bend. We ordered the Cuban sandwhich with fries and the Pallomilla (thin steak with plantains and beans). And, whatever you do, don't forget to order the guava pastry. It pairs well with the Cuban coffee (also very sweet) and is the perfect size for two people. The staff are also super friendly! Cafe con leche was as delicious as ever. This year, I switched it up and had the palomilla. Mmm, that mojo sauce! So tart and tangy. Cuban Kitchen deserves every one of the 5-star reviews they get online. The food here is simply amazing. They offer ordering through their website but I called the restaurant to place our order because I don't like the idea of GrubHub getting a 20-30% cut of the bill. The food was ready by the time I got there 10 minutes later. I usually go for a Cubano or a Medianoche when I try a new Cuban restaurant but I was feeling adventurous tonight and went for the Picadillo. My wife had the Roast Pork dish. The pork was moist and delicious (I might have snuck a bite). The first few bites of my Picadillo was good until my wife pointed out that I needed to add the sauce to the dish. Oh. My. Gosh. It was next level. The sides were delicious and complemented the flavors of our main dish. Unfortunately, we made a huge mistake ordering the empanadas. I just couldn't stop eating them. The crust was flakey and buttery and the meat filling was just the best. I probably could have scarfed down 2-3 more. First time dining at Cuban Kitchen and it definitely will not be the last. Everything has been spot on! The waiter was intuitively attentive and friendly, but didn't hover. The food here is all homemade (including all bread, sauces, desserts) and DELICIOUS! Prices are quite reasonable too. Delicious food including house-made Cuban bread and pork smoke for several hours. The peach habanero hot sauce was particularly tasty. We bought several bottles to enjoy at home. Definitely a 4.5! Everything has a unique taste. We started with the loaded yucca with shredded pork. I ordered a rum punch and hubby ordered Cuba libre. We both ordered the pressed Cubano sandwich. I last visited Cuban Kitchen at their west side location pre-COVID. Was super excited that they reopened in a new location (though sadly not close to me). Took a friend her for her birthday lunch today and I have to say, I *love* the decor, the vibe. It's amazingly comfortable and chill. Great personable service from Chris, one of the owners, and a nice chat with Cristina, the chef/owner (who did remember me from five years ago!). I was torn between the Maduro and the Pan Con Pollo, went with the Pan Con Pollo. The birthday girl ordered the empanada and the Palomilla w/a side of fluffy white Jasmine rice. She insisted I try the empanada, tho I don't eat meat/pork, and I tasted it. It was OUT of this world. My Pan Con Pollo was delicious, as were the battered fries. Stopped into The Cuban Kitchen on the recommendation of my nephew. The place was clean and colorful. Cute ambience, with one of the owners greeting us, seating us and taking our orders. He was very nice, attentive and patient with all my questions, as this was my first time trying Cuban food. I ordered the basic Cubano with fried plantains. I can't remember the dishes my nephew and his roommate ordered, but they were immensely pleased with their choices. The sandwich was good and filling. The fried plantains were tasty, too. I gave the food a 4 star review, because it didn't knock my socks off. Tasty for sure and I would recommend trying them out, but I'm not sure Cuban food is something I'm crazy about. 4 for food, but a strong 5 for service. read more

Perfect comfort food after walking around in cold windy weather! We were craving rice and beans and this fit the bill. We love Cuban food and there aren't enough places near us so we were excited! Got as many things as we could: croquettes, empanadas, kids chicken, picadillo, and palomilla. The kids loved the flavorful rice and beans. I'm a sucker for plantains and theirs was excellent. I wanted to try this place when it was in its original location and was saddened to see when they closed. Since the new location opened, I've been meaning to get by to try it out. Now, I'm saddened again because I haven;'t been sooner! My buddy and I ordered a couple of sandwiches and split everything up. He ordered the Cubano with fries and I ordered the Pan con Lechon with Moros (black beans cooked with white rice). Everything was fantastic. Both sandwiches were expertly proportioned and perfectly pressed between that awesome Cuban bread. The cubano had a great balance of ham to pork to pickles to mustard. The roasted mojo seeped into the bread so everything stayed juicy without being messy. The pan con lechon started out a little blah, but as I got into the heart of the sandwich, the flavors really started to come out. The potato sticks providing some nice texture. My buddy and I were torn between which was the better sandwich. The moros were really good, with the rice cooked perfectly. The fries were cooked really well and deceivingly fluffy and light, seasoned well. Overall, the place has a really cool vibe, the service was great, and the food really, really good. We spotted this place when we were driving along 3rd St. heading somewhere else for dinner. Since we love Cuban I decided to look it up on Yelp. 4.8 stars with that many reviews? We gotta try it. The place was decorated nicely with the Cuban look you'd expect at an affordable but good Cuban cafe. We went when my wife was on a lunch break at her conference so we had limited time. Our server was incredibly helpful with recommendations and in getting our food in a timely manner. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The Cubano had the perfect proportions of meat, mustard, pickle and cheese. The tostones were just the right consistency: crispy on the outside soft in. I had the roast pork which melted in your mouth it was so tender. The server recommended the Moro rice and sweet plantains. Sweet plantains are a favorite of mine anyway and these were done exactly how I like them, brown, but soft and moist with no glaze... perfectly sweet on their own. The rice was delicious with a combination of flavors I've never quite had like that before. I highly recommend Cuban Kitchen because the service and food were both outstanding! read more
