I wanted to try this place when it was in its original location and was saddened to see when they closed. Since the new location opened, I've been meaning to get by to try it out. Now, I'm saddened again because I haven;'t been sooner! My buddy and I ordered a couple of sandwiches and split everything up. He ordered the Cubano with fries and I ordered the Pan con Lechon with Moros (black beans cooked with white rice). Everything was fantastic. Both sandwiches were expertly proportioned and perfectly pressed between that awesome Cuban bread. The cubano had a great balance of ham to pork to pickles to mustard. The roasted mojo seeped into the bread so everything stayed juicy without being messy. The pan con lechon started out a little blah, but as I got into the heart of the sandwich, the flavors really started to come out. The potato sticks providing some nice texture. My buddy and I were torn between which was the better sandwich. The moros were really good, with the rice cooked perfectly. The fries were cooked really well and deceivingly fluffy and light, seasoned well. Overall, the place has a really cool vibe, the service was great, and the food really, really good. My wife and I were in town shopping . My wife had not been to the current location of Cuban Kitchen. It was my first time this summer craving for a Cubano sandwich and thought this place always has a good one. Most Cuban places do not have many options for vegetarians. We were both surprised to see 2 options on the menu. The Maduro and the Tropical bowl fit the bill. My wife had the Maduro sandwich which consists of Sweet plantians, Swiss cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, potato sticks, black bean puree, and pickled onions. Comes with a side dish. Black beans were her choice. @ thumbs up for a nice , tasty sandwich. My Cuban sandwich with sweet plaintains was on par with the course. Fresh and tasty too. We both add there peach habanero sauce to our meals. A little heat with great flavor. Our server was great. Very friendly and took care of all of our needs. With heavy hearts we stepped into Cuban kitchen seeking refuge, the warm embrace of this place did not disappoint. Comfortable booths lit by stained glass chandeliers and warm Cuban music filled the air. This place is cool as hell. We made a trip in because we wanted something new and we love cuban food. We hit them on a very off day and still I am giving it 5 stars. That is how good the food and hot sauce are. I will setup the day. We sat and was told they could only do beer and cider for drinks. We had just come from a brewery so it was not a huge deal for us. Then he later came back and said they didnt have bread. We decided to grab some empanadas and some covered plantains. Dear god they were both so good. I couldnt even imagine how good the sandwich would have been. In addition to us sticking around and eating while they ran out of food, many people came behind and were warned with the same warning and decided to hang out still. Plus as we were leaving I believe they mentioned they were out of most of the food. The server was extremely apologetic, but it was quite ok. Seriously good food. I would highly recommend. I can't express how amazing it feels to experience a taste of the Caribbean in Bend. The Spanish Caribbean islands--Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba--are like distant cousins, and Chris is bringing those rich, bold flavors to life here in the Pacific Northwest. We spotted this place when we were driving along 3rd St. heading somewhere else for dinner. Since we love Cuban I decided to look it up on Yelp. 4.8 stars with that many reviews? We gotta try it. The place was decorated nicely with the Cuban look you'd expect at an affordable but good Cuban cafe. We went when my wife was on a lunch break at her conference so we had limited time. Our server was incredibly helpful with recommendations and in getting our food in a timely manner. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The Cubano had the perfect proportions of meat, mustard, pickle and cheese. The tostones were just the right consistency: crispy on the outside soft in. I had the roast pork which melted in your mouth it was so tender. The server recommended the Moro rice and sweet plantains. Sweet plantains are a favorite of mine anyway and these were done exactly how I like them, brown, but soft and moist with no glaze... perfectly sweet on their own. Growing up in Miami in the mid 60's, I love good Cuban food. This place is family run and from south Florida, so they don't mess around. This is the best Cuban I've ever had outside of Miami. I had the Ropa Veija and got a Cuban sandwich to go and flan. I chatted up the owners and had a great time talking food, Miami, the Keys, etc.p Next time in Bend I will be back for sure. read more

Ok - this place you may drive by and overlook but trust me when I say you're making a mistake! It's in a shopping center on Third Street and as soon as I saw the sign go up I was excited to try it - I love Cuban food! But I was pleasantly surprised when I walked inside because the entire vibe of this place is really great. It's a hidden gem. Of course I had to start with a pina colada - and it was great. If you're looking for an authentic and delightful Cuban dining experience, this is the place! I was disappointed, but not surprised, to learn about the closure of their first restaurant tucked away next to a dry cleaner on the west side. It was small, impeccably neat and clean, but the location was a little suboptimal. The Covid years were the final nail in the coffin for them. I mourned their departure from Bend's restaurant scene. They're back! Their new Third St location is spacious, charmingly decorated, with plentiful booth seating and light. There's even a large semi-private space if you have a large group. Their excellent menu has expanded from their original location, with the notable addition of mixed drinks. I had the excellent Cubano with yucca fries. The accompanying homemade habanero sauce provided the perfect boost of piquancy and heat. They make their own bread daily, and their efforts pay off in freshness and crunch. They do take-out orders and offer outdoor seating when it is nice enough to sit outside, Menu: Is what it is, simple traditional Cuban food. Nothing fancy and it all has a common taste. For sure try the maduros. Food: Taste is Cuban, go figure, it all looks and taste the same, you can't go wrong here, just try it. Cocktails: They offer nice traditional mojitos cocktails but you pay for them $9-$12, we did not sample but they looked good. Seating: Limited, enjoy sitting next to someone, playing a round of dominos, and eating as a community. It is oaky, really, this is the way most of the world dines. Value: Pretty oaky but pushing the limits for Bend-dollars, portions are large so we could have shared one.
