We decided on having dinner here while walking the Old Mill District and boy we are sure glad we did. This place is unique. They serve mexican and peruvian dishes and we are big fans of both. We ordered a peruvian dish, Chancho a lo Sancho, and talk about FLAVOR. Hats off to the cook for serving up, in our opinion a five star meal on its way to becoming a michelin star. After reading in the source that Hola! had won best margarita four years in a row we were hyped. Hola in Old Mill next to the theater, no way am I going in there... but after attending some BendFilm events we dropped in for a margarita, how bad can it be? If you're a local and put off by the location as tourist infested, maybe you should give this Hola a go... I admit I was wrong. Location: Old Mill, parking is what it is, get a spot and you're not kicked out in two hours like downtown. I am sure this place can get packed but the restaurant is very nice inside. Always greeted by one of the owners who I must say, is a brand of his own. Super nice and he puts his mark on the customers experience, this is what it's all about otherwise it's just feeding humans. Food: This is really just a simple Mexican restaurant, nothing fancy which is perfect. Drinks are more than fair and VERY well made to your asking. I will say, the food here is prepped and plated with care every time, every dish, on every visit. Seems like they care. Service: Perfect. I want to love this place. The atmosphere is vibrant and customers seem happy but food is just not great. I had high hopes for the chili relleno but it came with a big hunk of unmelted cheese and the red sauce tasted like cambells tomato soup.. also the rice and beans were completely cold. I also don't understand the banana shrimp and portobello combination.. it looks cool but really didn't taste at all good : ( that being said the waitress was very wonderful and made the experience pleasant. Here is my complaint up front: the wait time was much longer than anticipated on a Sunday afternoon with a fairly light crowd. And by that, I don't mean the place was empty, but there aren't a lot of tables, so it surprised me to wait as long as I did. Still, that's about where my complaints stop. From the drinks to the food to the service, everything was top notch. I'd never had Peruvian-Mexican fusion before, so I can't honestly say I knew what to expect. But, I was happy with the results. The drinks were far from sweet and syrupy. You could tell they were freshly made and mixed, and with fresh ingredients. The same could be said of the food. I had the pisco sour, a lemon-and-hibuscus martini, and the pork stew (I forget the actual name). Everything was great! I'm not normally one to dine outside, especially in the summer, but the weather was lovely and the sun was behind the building, so it was perfect breezy weather. Hold on to your napkins! Oh, almost forgot, they bring out two salsas with the chips, and both are pretty gosh-darn good. I preferred the verde, but both were avidly consumed with great approval. Definitely a spot I would return to! They have a relatively short menu, but there is plenty I would absolutely try next time. read more

The are highly enforcing social distancing. We sat inside and had about nine people (one wheelchair) and we were the only ones to have inside seating. Food came quickly and was delicious! I got the Tequila Tacos and they might be the best carne asada tacos I have had before. The beans were just okay and same with the rice. I also got a Strawberry Margarita, which was delicious, but definitely a shareable drink because it was too much for me. In the end, we all received our meal for free because our waitress said she thought we were all very beautiful people and were really kind. We gave her a very generous tip. We were seated right away outside and were promptly given free chips and salsa. I really liked the green cilantro one and found it very unique. Chips & salsa were great, so I anticipated great meals, but overall we left a bit disappointed. The fish tacos weren't too bad flavor wise but they were so huge that it was impossible to eat them. While this might sound like a good thing, it really just presented the flavor of fish and nothing else while I tried my hardest to pick up the pieces of falling tortilla and super wet slaw in my hands. I eventually gave up & used my fork. My husband said the pork burrito was just meat and nothing else and the pork itself was bland and a bit dry. The rice and beans would have been great as the black beans had great flavor, I just found them a tad bit too salty. The service was great, friendly staff and our meals came super fast. Prices were on the higher side, but the portions are very large if that is worth it to you. We're on vacation and have too much happening to savor leftovers, so bigger portions (of our not-so-loved meals) felt a little wasteful. Something to consider..if you're here visiting you could definitely split the entrees. read more

We went to Hola in the Old Mill District of Bend. The red cactus margarita was fantastic. Our server Ivan was amazing, he made the experience 100% enjoyable. We loved having him as our waiter, and enjoyed all of his food recommendations. He actually made our dining experience the best. We rarely go out to eat, because so many people don't care about their jobs as food servers, and don't treat their customers very well. Here on vacation. We were told it was very good Mexican food. Chips and salsa were average, nothing distinct about the flavor. Ensenada mixta. Two chicken taco combo. Baja burrito, chicken. Baja burrito, pork. No distinct flavor to set them off as different from other Mexican restaurants. The chicken had little to no seasoning. The pork was no different. Salad is what it is. Service was fine and staff was friendly. Price was in line with other restaurants, but portion size exceeded what we are use to seeing in the today's world. Thus the 3 star rating. We were craving authentic Peruvian food and stopped by at Hola! for dinner. We ordered the chips and salsa that quelled our hunger. Next, we got the Guacamole Fresco that was made fresh at our table. It included 3 ripe avocados, spices, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, it was tasty. Three of us ordered the Seco de Pollo a Peruvian stew that came with a lot of chicken, that we enjoyed. Another in our party ordered the Grilled Baby Back Ribs marinated with Peruvian spices. The flavor of the ribs had a unique sweet and sour flavor infused into the ribs. So, if you want to sample Peruvian dishes, Hola! is your best choice. Hola! serves Mexican food as well. The bright and festive decor makes you feel like you are transported to Latin America. The songs playing also adds to the ambiance. The service is excellent. Our waiter even volunteered to take pictures of our group at the end of our evening. read more

Ok, what can I say. We stopped here after eating two doors down at Hola 2 after eating at the Hawaiian Restaurant. My guy wanted a beer at the last place and all I could think of was a nice margarita while sitting in the sun. We ordered a margarita for me and a mojito for him. They served them up on the rocks and brought the extra out in the shaker. I thought they were very well done. Not too strong but that's ok by me. The chips and salsa they served with the drinks were very tasty. It made me wish I had more of an appetite but the salsa both types were very fresh and spicy. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun and watched the birds in the nest above the Hola sign fly back and forth. I definitely want to come back and try the food next time. read more

I almost didn't come to Hola because it's in a strip mall next to a movie theater and generally speaking, that doesn't usually mean quality food.
