11/7/25 I came here again with my husband and another couple. They insisted to give this spot another try, so we did. I was craving soup, so I got their soup of the day which was tomato with a Texas grilled cheese. It was mediocre, soup was underwhelming but the cheese toast made up for it. We had fried mushrooms as an appetizer and those were perfectly done. We also ordered the roosters nest with Korean BBQ and this time it wasn't too bad. I just wish there were more healthier options besides a salad, like more vegetables or meats that aren't fried or drenched in seed oils. If there could be some roasted vegetable or chicken options, I'd be more happy about coming here. Overall, the waitress took great care of our table and everything came out quicker than our last visit. I'd personally not recommend this spot just because I prefer healthier food spots. Just don't want to feel like a bloated cow leaving a restaurant from all the excess grease and bad for you type of oils like soybean, canola, peanut, etc. Other than that, this spot is great for people wanting to watch sports and eat bar type of food. We went to Rooster's yesterday before the UK football game. I've been to this location several times. We arrived with a party of 8 at 4pm. It wasn't very crowded yet, so they were able to seat us at large table in the center section. Perfect place as we were surrounded by 5 TV's so we could watch several of the games that were on. Our waitress was very nice, and got our drink, apps and food orders entered pretty quickly. If you like a sports bar atmosphere with good food, you can't go wrong here. I had a Samuel Adams Octoberfest, boneless medium wings with spicy ranch and the curly fries along with fried pickle appetizer. Our daughter got the Italian sub. Everything was very good. I love roosters and order online all the time. I have been in person once only and the ambiance was more of a pub... super loud guests, clearly intoxicated, and looking for trouble. Never again. But their wings are so good and so big we just keep ordering all the time! Their prices are very fair for the amount of the wings. I wish they wouldn't charge for the first 1 or 2 cups of ranch when you order online but oh well. We went for lunch after doing some shopping . We were greeted by a very friendly host and seated immediately. Our server came by and informed us that we could scan the bar code for the drink menu. I ordered a Stella beer and my friend had the Strawberry Mash . (I wish I had ordered one as well it was that good !). We both ordered the grilled chicken fingers . We also ordered potato skins and fried mushrooms. The chicken fingers were HUGE and the serving was four of them. They were grilled to perfection and tender. The potato skins were crispy on the bottom and really good as well. The basket of fried mushrooms were crispy &hot. The interior is done in wood as we sat in a booth . I've been a day one wing eater since Roosters landed on Richmond Rd., and it's still my go-to spot for wings, beer, and sports for my friends and I. I usually come with friends to chill, catch sporting events, drink a few beers, and tear through some fries (or a salad when I'm feeling fancy). Let's be real though, I haven't bothered to branch out beyond wings because, well, it's a wing place, right? * I'd also like to mention that this one of the only wing spots that has the wing tip, winglets and drums available! The sauces are solid. My go-to is a mix of Donkey + Garlic, but if I'm not feeling that, the Korean BBQ stands strong on its own. For apps, Dumpster Tots are where it's at (also available with fries or wedges if you're in that mood), but the fried pickles and onion feathers (think fried onion petals) hit just right, too. If I do grab a salad, it's always the wedgie with blue cheese--keeps things simple. This is *the* spot for NFL games, and they even have little whiteboards under the TVs so you know which game is playing where, which is clutch. This place is kind of like Hooters, a lot of college crowd, but that is to be expected with University of Kentucky Campus located in Lexington. We started off Soft Baked Pretzels with Nacho Cheese. My wife had the Grilled Chicken Salad and I had the Red Rooster Sals, the special house dressing is amazing. Next we chose the winds, they offer 11 sauces ranging from Teriyaki to the "Nu-Killer" served in 2 oz offerings. My wife had the Honey BBQ and the Sweet Thai Chili. I had the Nu-Killer and the Korean BBQ sauces. The Koren BBQ is Gochujanj and similar to Sriracha and is solid heat, They also have offerings a variety of burgers as well as chicken sandwiches and also Pizzas and subs as well. My wife confirmed the sauces were as described and non remarkable. The wings were larger than most places. Usually I have to have 10-15 wings to fill up, this was close to 10 to being stuffed. The wings are well cooked and each one had a lot of meat on the bone. The Nu-Killer is not the hottest wings I ever had. The taste was more a habanero/cayenne base. They were great wings but far from the spiciest around. We were really skeptical about the breading, which usually means that they do not hold sauce well. However Roosters for the win here, the sauce soaks in to every crevice of the these traditional wings. There is not much else to say about it other than good quality and a tasty sauce (not spicy, nor should it be, just tasty). The heat level of Nu-Killer was much lower than we'd been told, an a disappointment in the heat level, but the wings themselves are immense and packed with flavor. If you're only seeking heat it may be possible to ask for no sauce and then toss them yourself in some your own preferred hot sauce or whatever floats your boat heat-wise, but if you're just looking for tasty wings, look no further.This was our first trip to Roosters and it's definitely a contender for a place to hit up on game day read more

Not my favorite place to eat, mostly due to food allergies. If this isn't a problem for you, then disregard this review. The traditional wings aren't traditional in a general sense--they are breaded. Having a gluten intolerance, I was disappointed. I love hot wings. There are grilled chicken options, but rather limited and there's a chance of cross contamination. I've visited twice and have been less than impressed with the options and the value for the price. I met friends for dinner on the second visit and was quickly reminded why it had been so long since I've visited. I don't fit the targeted demographic for Roosters. read more

I love going to this place it's my go to wing spot. I love the inside and all the cool posters and vintage signs. The service is always great every time I go here. It doesn't take long for the food took about 10 minutes for 6 wings and some potato wedges, which is not bad at all compared to some wing places such as Buffalo Wild Wings. This location is just like the others! We have eaten at 3 locations and they all worry more about the bar area than the family areas! Even see servers cutting up with people at the bar, to the point we had to explain to our grandson why the woman grabbed another woman's breast at the bar and all the cussing and inappropriate conversations! The food was mediocre at best! The burger was greasy and over cooked as well as the wings! They too were dry and no amount of sauce was going to help them! The pizza was cool and took forever to get, and the other chicken strips were at least hot but not great. The place is a typical bbq joint look alike! TV's all over and especially at the bar! Ambiance is loud too much drinking especially since we were there early (445 pm) and all the people in uniforms after work already had had too much! The women that were being rude should not have been served anymore and told with children in the area (not at the bar but close by! And not just mine!) UPDATE! I ordered drumsticks with hot and garlic sauce and they just put in deep fried chicken in the box with no sauce. It happened two times in the last three months. The first time I drove back to talk to the manager and get a replacement. the second time is today and I didn't even bother to drive back. I just threw them out. Roosters is located near Walmart on Nicholasville Rd. They specialize in wings, sandwiches, and pizza. The inside is very sports bar- like, and they always seem to attract a good crowd. They do have a rewards program if you register online. I especially enjoy the boneless wings, and they have many sauces to choose from. My friend and I always have wings left over to take home because they are a generous size. Wanted wings and this place was right next to Walmart when I came out. Gave them a try and definitely regret it. Either there aren't many good wing options in the Lexington area or some of these reviewers gotta be drunk by the time they review this place. To give them credit the wings do seem fresh and not frozen, which I can usually tell by taste. Also the young ladies at the front were pleasant to deal with. Wings are pretty big. I ordered a 10pc and split the flavors. I mixed Donkey (I think that's what it was) and teriyaki and I got Nashville Hot which is a dry rub. The mixed flavor barely had enough sauce on them and was just ok overall. The Nashville Hot may as well had been just plain fried wings as I didn't taste any flavor at all and barely saw any on them. It's pretty obvious that they don't tossed their wing in sauce/flavor like real wing places do. Also ordered a side of curly fries which were ok. I didn't like the fact that I had to buy blue cheese/ranch for my wings. Most real wing places at least give you one per 10 wings. Spent $23.80 for 10 wings and fries which is crazy to me especially considering they weren't worth even $15. Very underwhelming food experience and I wouldn't recommend anybody who actually like wings to go here for them. Maybe their other food options are good. My gf and I went here for the Monday night 69 cent wing night and it was really good. They let us know that they were currently only doing the boneless wings for 69 cents bc the cost of bone-in hadn't gone back down yet (FJB). The boneless wings weren't like Buffalo Wild Wings, which are all covered in breading. The Roosters boneless wings were essentially chicken breast tenderloins cut into 3's (like Chick Fil A's nuggies but slightly bigger) which is great considering they were 69 cents each and very tender/juicy. We ordered 5 Nashville hot, 5 honey bbq, 5 Thai chili and 5 donkey hot. They were all very good but I'd say the Thai chili was the best followed by Nashville hot. Ranch and blue cheese were good. We got a side of curly fries with cheese/queso sauce, which all came out hot to our delight. Our server was Camryn and she was good, and I could tell the other servers were good as well. Overall great experience and we made it out of there with a $22 check before tip (ordered waters) and 5 wings left over for lunch the next day. The atmosphere was chill, and definitely wasn't super loud like some wing/sports bar places. They had a gas fireplace going which was also nice. So, whether you're coming to spend a Sunday afternoon to watch football or bringing your family by for dinner after work, Rooster's is a great choice. My kids love the mac n cheese bites. They always get it. If they're happy, I'm happy. But, I'm more than happy here, because there are a lot of tasty options on the menu for adults as well. I recommend the fried chicken salad or the fried chicken sandwich, and go with the optional Sweet Thai Chili sauce on both. That sauce is super tasty and not spicy. If you're super hungry go with the full salad. If not, the half salad should do the job for you and save you some money. The only thing I've had that was a total disappointment was the nachos. They were both flavorless and soggy. I'd rate this menu option as a strong avoid. One other thing to avoid if possible ~ the restrooms in the winter are extremely cold. I had visited a Roosters location in Louisville before, but I had only had drinks, I'd never tried their food. This past summer we attended one of our nephew's baseball games in Lexington, and after the team decided to go to Roosters, so we decided to tag along to spend some time with family and try it out. Our service was great! The young girl who waited on our table was attentive and very nice. The restaurant itself seemed clean, and it had the feel of any typical bar/restaurant chain spot. A few signs around on the walls, lots of wood (floors, tables, chairs), and a huge menu of wings, chicken, appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, etc. The food was ok. Honestly I can barely remember what we had now, because it simply wasn't memorable. I tried at least three different dishes, as we were dining with family and everyone ordered something different, as well as a few appetizers. Everything tasted fine, but it all seemed like the frozen deep-fried variety of food you find at many chains. Overall, this place is fine, but I doubt we'd ever choose to dine here again on our own. read more

Some people like dry, others wet. Roosters style of wing is exactly what I like. The wings are decent sized, not those tiny things from BDubs. The outside is not overly battered. There is a light crunchy crust. The best part is the blue cheese. I've never tasted blue cheese this good.
