It's very hit or miss here, which is sad to say cause I used to love this place. Tonight we will literally waited 15 minutes for our server to even talk to us (party of 2). Prior to us sitting down the server freaked out at the hostess that sat us because she was getting another table right in front of us. My wife waited 30 minutes for her first sweet tea. We put our order in with our drinks, never saw our appetizer. Honestly we just got up and left. I feel bad but because I know she was just overwhelmed but I definitely didn't appreciate they way she talked to the young hostess in front of us or how she never came and checked on us. Even people sitting next to us said as we were leaving, "I don't blame you guys, we sat down after you and we are done eating our food." This is a great spot where everyone can find something they like. From awesome salads, to pizzas and let's not forget WINGS! The wings are good and the sauce is great. I'm more of a naked wings kind of girl, and these have a breading to it. They are still good in their own right. I tried really hard to not write this, but last night my GF and I went to roosters. First they sat us in a room with no ventilation and there was a guy coughing every 20 seconds beside of us. Then the food came out, Jesus there were still feathers on my wings. Completely ruined my appetite because now I'm questioning if it was actually cleaned food. They offer a wide variety of options including wings, salads, chicken tenders, sandwiches and even pizza. My go-to is always a side salad with ranch, and the medium boneless wings. The potato wedges are also really tasty, especially dipped in their ranch dressing. Their wings are all white meat and not heavily breaded like many wing places can be. They offer some more unique sauce options like korean bbq and even offer a donkey sauce if super spicy is your thing. They now claim there is a "chicken wing shortage" and do not offer BONE-IN wings special on Monday. What a farce. Boneless wings are NOT wings... they are chicken McNuggets! I have to say I am a huge fan of this place. They have great service, great pricing, great wings, and great beers. I usually meet friends here during happy hour and plop belly up at the bar. Two stars because this place wasn't anything special for me, and there were some mishaps with the food. We wanted to try a few things off of the menu, so we ordered the dump fries as an appetizer. For my meal, I ordered the fish sandwich - with cheese - and potato wedges. My husband ordered a cajun chicken sandwich and a full order of chicken strips, with donkey and sweet Thai chili as the mix of sauces. He quite enjoyed the cajun chicken sandwich, and we both liked the chicken strips. The fish sandwich I ordered was over-fried a bit, so it was really hard battered and the fish inside was dry - and worse yet, the middle of the fish was too tough for me to chew so I had to cut it out of the sandwich altogether. The potato wedges were okay, but I didn't finish them. The place reminds me of a BWW, with how your order your food and the options available, except this place does offer pizza. I was kinda interested in trying that, but wasn't sure how big it was so maybe next time. An upside was that this place was reasonably priced. We got all of that food, with drinks, for about twenty-five dollars. One other upside was the health department score. They received a 100, but the form was located behind the two workers at the front, which was behind the counter. Not very convenient for reading it, nor taking a picture of it for Yelp. Oh well. In conclusion, I may give this place another shot but it'll probably be a while before I return. read more

Roosters is in front of the Walmart right off Nicholasville road and Man-O-War and has plenty of parking. There hours are posted on a large sign on the side of the building. I came with my son on a Saturday about 11:30 and there was a good crowd inside and we were seated quickly and our waitress came immediately and the menus were on the table. We were not ready to order since this was our first time here but she came back immediately and we ordered. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a sports bar with a lot of televisions. My son does not eat wings but they seemed reasonably priced and will try them another day with my husband. Steph our server was excellent and refilled my sons drink immediately and we enjoyed our sandwich, soup, and salad. The prices are good for lunch and the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich was loaded with bacon. The bacon was tasting as was everything else according to my son. We will comeback again! read more

Not good for families or groups. Roosters used to be one of the best crowd pleasing casual restaurants in the area... due to it's large menu and friendly staff. But, something has changed. They used to have something for EVERYONE... meaning the meat eaters AND the vegetarians in your family or group! Roosters HAD the BEST veggie burger in town! It was a "Morningstar" burger with the perfect mix of condiments... and you could get it with "The Works" to make it a feast! But, they recently removed it from the menu. We can't understand the reasoning in eliminating this menu option. A small inexpensive box of frozen Morningstar burgers can be found in virtually EVERY Kroger, Walmart, and almost ANY other grocery store throughout the United States. They have been around for decades! Any restaurant could easily stock a few boxes to please the veggie loving customers (or anyone else that is on a heart-healthy, fat/cholesterol restricted diet (or anyone just wanting to turn over a new leaf and shed a few pounds, and eat healthier for a change... by substituting a veggie burger for a meat burger once in a while). Even if they don't sell that many, these burgers are FROZEN! All they have to do is buy a few and heat it up or grill it and serve it like they do all their other burgers! I guess we will be looking for a new "favorite restaurant" now. Our family and friends were VERY disappointed in this decision. read more

It's okay. The grilled chicken fingers are good. The wings are good. The honey barbecue sauce is really good. It's more of a tangy barbecue sauce but also sweet. I have to subtract a star for the buffalo sauces. They just aren't buffalo sauces. They're just odd. They taste like oil. They're just very oily. There's zero of that buffalo zest and tang. I also have to subtract a star for the incidences I've had their. Two times I've walked in and ordered takeout. Both times I've had issues. The first time, it took me 40 minutes to get 20 boneless wings. The second time, it took 30 minutes to get my wings and the order was wrong. Again, the place is okay. It's probably more like a 3.4. Since UK and UNC play today my normal wing spot was super packed. So we decided to venture out of the normal area. I have a friend who swears by this place. I have to say I was taking away by the limit choices of wings. However I could sample some the sauces. I wasn't a fan of the traditional hot wing sauce because of the over whelming taste of butter. The sauce that attracted me the was the "Carolina gold" sauce. What do you expect from a Carolina boy. The sauce was a combo of honey mustard and a sweeter, spicy flavor. (You have love the use of my descriptor verb). In a nutshell I got 10 Carolina golds and the pub chips. The wings are cooked to order and they came out pretty fast. My first glance was drawn directly to the nub still attached to the wingette. I have never ever seen this in the wing world. The talk in the wing underworld is that is a cardinal sin in wingtopia. Needless to say after the i got past the rules violation I chump down on my Carolina golds. The taste was very good. I was really surprise that the sauce held its taste on the wing. Then I sampled the pig chips. I can say maybe some of the best I've had. The blue cheese dipping sauce complimented the chips well. I'm some what torn about my rating for this place. Do I put all my starts base on taste or do take away stars for my personal basis against wing Nubs. The key word is "my" review so I have to go with my heart. I went today for lunch, with a friend whose pretty much a regular. I'm on a really tight budget until payday so I was limiting myself to appetizers for this trip. But to my surprise they had several options that were all very well priced. I went ahead and ordered a side Cesar Salad which unfortunately wasn't all that great. I also ordered a side of curly fries and some soft pretzels. The pretzels and cheese were all spot on. I had some of my friends food so I could get a feel their wings and dumpster fries. And wow, amazing. I will definitely be coming to this place more often! All of the staff was super friendly and attentive. I recommend you give this little place a try. This is definitely on of my go-tos for happy hour. Their beer is VERY reasonably priced and the staff is super friendly. Food is priced well, but I feel like any "extra" that you get can add up (the reason for 4, instead of 5, stars). On Thursdays, they have 5.99 domestic pitchers, which you cannot beat. The best part is that the special is all day, not just a specific time. They have a large dining area, so you're likely to get a table quickly; unless it's during a UK game. If you want to watch Kentucky basketball, I recommend coming 30-40 mins early, depending on you party size and preference of seating. read more

Have been wanting to try this place again since it's had been a while so we make a trip to Lex. The place was steadily busy for a Sunday around noon but we were seated immediately. Our waitress Keisha greated us to take drink and appetizer order. We waited a good while for her to return and had to get her attention when leaving another table. We finally get our order put in and my fiancé requests to try a couple of the hottest sauces before deciding which one he wanted on his wings. Our food comes out and everything looks great except my sandwich is not how I had requested. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich dipped in medium sauce with only pickles and ranch. The sandwich had lettuce and tomato which yes I could pick off, the pickles were on the side and it appeared and tasted like no medium sauce was added to the chicken nor did I have the ranch to go on it. This was immediately fixed, bringing me a cup of medium sauce and ranch. The sandwich was tasty once I fixed it to my liking. My fiancé ordered the 10 traditional wings with the hottest sauce in the books, Nu-Killer. Needless to say it met his expectations and was sweating like a.....well, he was sweating which for him is a good thing when eating hot wings! This is a really great chicken shop. Their wings are great, but everything else I've had there has been really good as well. I've had various apps, most notably their garbage fries (I think), which were just over the top decadent. I will say that probably 80% of the menu is fried, so if you're looking for a lighter option you should go somewhere else. Also, the service I've had here has been top notch. The last time I was there, I spilled my beer, which was super embarrassing. After apologizing profusely, the waitress asked if I'd like another one. I declined, feeling like I'd lost my beer privileges for the evening. Instead, she just brought me out another one on the house. This on top of being very good and attentive already. Decided to update my review. Roosters is a great place to watch any sporting event. But if you have a big group plan to be there at least an hour or so early to get a table for 7 or more especially if the Cats play. Their traditional wings are huge and fairly priced compared to other restaurants known for their wings. They always have a 10.00 margarita pitcher deal and it can't be beat. You can usually get 4-6 glasses out of it and if you normally pay 5.00 a glass that's a steal! We visited today to watch the UK bowl game. They had a bloody Mary bar that you could fix yourself with pretty much anything you wanted. Service the last few times we've been there has been quick and friendly. Way to go Roosters!! read more

I met a couple of friends here for drinks after work last week. I only had a couple of drinks so I am not sure how the food is yet. I will be back for a meal. The restaurant is pretty big with an outdoor patio for when it is nice out. There are enough TV's in the place to make my list of bars to go watch a game. My friend had some of the chicken fingers and they looked pretty good but I forgot to ask him how they were. The two waitresses we had (We came at the end of a shift) were great.
