Rooftop Reds is a true hidden gem in the Navy Yard of Downtown Brooklyn. It offers a nice view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines (though most of the manhattan side is covered by surrounding buildings). The vibes are relaxed with open seating, hammocks, large tables, and backyard games like cornhole. I especially like that the grape vines are intertwined with the seating, so that you can sit all around the plants while you enjoy your wine or cocktail. Service was spectacular with two sommeliers working the wine bar. They took their time to explain the menu and patiently described the flavor profile of each of the wines to me and my friend (two complete novices). I suggest trying their in house wines and the Le Mone spritz, which is similar to an Aperol Spritz but made with a lemon liqueur instead. It can be kind of difficult to get to the location since it in inside the Navy Yard and there is no direct access from the main street. Once you get there, you have to go up about 4 flights of stairs since the elevator is for special use only. They have a small snack menu but you can also order pizza from IL Porto, which will be delivered right to the rooftop. You cannot bring outside food or drink. Reservations are mandatory but I went on a Friday evening and there was only about 3 other groups there. There was also no cover when I went. The only reason this is missing a star on the review is the steps!! It's ridiculous and there's no full disclosure until you get there are to how far up you have to work. It's five steep floors. You cannot use the elevator and if you have mobility issues you have to call a number posted on the door when you arrive. Def a turn off. After climbing forever, I checked in which was smoothe. I thought the movie began at 6pm so I arrived at that time and had almost two hours to look around. I chilled in the big beautiful hammocks And walked the vineyard. Though pizza and wine was included in my ticket I ordered the watermelon frose which was so delicious and cheese. The spread arrived in picnic aesthetic which was so cute. The movie started at sun down and it got chilly fast. They provide blankets at no additional cost if needed. The pizza was so good! It was a nice vibe with the beautiful skyline in the background. What a treat this place is! A rooftop winery located in Brooklyn, who would have thought. Located in the Navy Yard, they have fantastic views of Downtown Brooklyn, but not so much of Lower Manhattan. I must warn you, getting here can be a bit tricky. You must have a reservation, the security guard will stop you and ask, if driving in. You can also walk in as well. Then you have to head all the way to the back of all the buildings to find this place. And then comes the stairs, about 5 flights of stairs to reach the rooftop. Be ready for a climb. They have a service elevator, but only available for accessible needs. If you absolutely need elevator assistance, email them 24 hours in advance. But once you reach the top, you're greeted with boxed water and a cheerful welcome from the host! Once you get to the top, it's worth it. There are ample amount of tables, corn hole, games, hammocks, covered tables, beautiful views, fantastic service, and delicious wine. They have a restroom located one flight of stairs below the winery. I enjoyed the wine flights, a little taste of some really great wines. I would recommend the "A little bit of this a little bit of that" flight - a red, a rosé, and a red blend. I also enjoyed the Austrian Getaway, another variety flight. They have something for everyone, they even offer orange wines, frosés, beer, cider, non-alcoholic beverages and a great selection of wines. If you're looking for some grub, they offer a lite bites menu with more of like picnic style foods: cheeses, meats, hummus, meats, and gluten free crackers. If you want something more solid, you can order pizza from a local spot - IL Porto Pizza, your table will have the menu and an easy way to order. The pizza spot will deliver to you at the winery. So happy I finally caught a movie in this space. The space was super cute with small tables, pretty comfortable chairs and the night sky. There's a bar code set up on each table for all to order additional food items and wine if they choose. Aside from the two slices of pizza we each received, we went with a bottle of Saratoga water, prosciutto and their cheese and crackers. These additions came out in a nice basket, along with glasses for drinking. Service was great and super friendly. Would definitely recommend for date night or with a small group of friends. Came for a wine and cheese tasting here and it was so fun! We tried 4 different NY wines and 4 different NY cheeses and I must say, I now have new favorite cheeses and wines! We even ended up buying a bottle of a rose - it was that good lol. It was great to learn more about NY viticulture, I have even more respect for wine making now! The rooftop was absolutely amazing. They grow grapes right on the roof (the only urban rooftop vineyard in the states!). Will definitely be coming back sometime to try more wines and soak in these great vibes. Quick side note! Rooftoop Reds boasts on its website that it is NYC's Only Rooftop Vineyard and I am proud that this winery is in Brooklyn. Located on the Brooklyn Navy Yard's property, it is accessible via public transportation (bus w/ is a shorter walking distance than the train). I walked from the High Street Brooklyn Bridge train station to Rooftop Reds which was about a 14 minute walk. Rooftop Reds has patrons make reservations via their website (rooftopreds.com) which takes you to an Eventbrite Page to order tickets. Tickets are $15 + $2.74 Fee = $17.74. You receive a confirmation email w/ an included ticket and it covers a three-hour session. Included w/ your admission, Rooftops Reds provides each patron w/ a bag of Zapps Voodoo Chips & a Boxed Water. Once I arrived at Brooklyn Navy Yard, Security explained how to get to Building 275 and then I proceeded to get to the front entrance and walk up the flights of steps to get to the rooftop. A warm and inviting welcome sign is nestled there at the rooftop entrance. Staff asked me for the name under the reservation and then placed me at one of their picnic/ park bench-style seating tables. It was so cool to see this local vineyard where they grow grapes to create their own Rooftops Reds Brand of Wines. Rooftop Reds has a large enough yet quaint enough space / venue. The weather started out a little dreary w/ light rain drizzling and then out of nowhere the sun came out and shined so beautifully making for a nice "day on the rooftop" experience. Rooftop Reds was a very interesting addition to Brooklyn this Summer. My only complaint is it was super hard to find. The signs were not as visible as they should've been, considering we were in the Navy Yard. Otherwise, a great experience. Great wine selection. Definitely a vibe that goes on after the hours I was there I'm sure. All in all I was sorta hoping for a better view the way the stairs of encouragement sold me on. Every flight had a new line stating how it will be worth it and just a little longer you had till you made it to the top. One even said the view will be worth it... no one I know gives a damn about the industrial navy yard view or that of downtown BK and the public pool.... But I don't know many people, Hence the crankiness lol. Pretty great concept, decent early on and I'd love to go back for some late night vibes with my buds, play some cornhole, order some pizzas. We really enjoyed this winery! They really tried to give it a winery feel even though you're on a rooftop in Brooklyn. The view was beautiful and they also had hammocks you can use. They had a wide variety of wines available, I got the traminette which was delicious, we ended up getting a carafe of it which was good for the 4 of us. They also had an option to get pizza from Il Porto which was convenient. You just order through the restaurant and tell them where you are on the rooftop and the pizza is delivered to you. We got the Bianca and the Margherita which were delicious (the Margherita was our favorite though). The only weird thing about this winery was you have to scan the QR code with your reservation to get into the industrial park and it can be a long walk if you don't park inside. Started off with a glass of the Sweater Weather ($13) - a chilled red wine that's perfect for a warm night. Once you get your drink, you can walk around and enjoy the scenery and hammocks. Food wise, everything is prepackaged - so you have to keep expectations low (unless you get the pizza). Decided on the Cheddar and Crackers ($10). A solid wedge of cheese served in a nice little basket with a knife for cutting, as well as some rosemary crackers. Fine to pair with the wine, though just a lot of a single cheese. Ended with the Skin Contact Red ($18) just to see what that would be. They mention notes of green tea which actually do come through at the end. This is my favorite rooftop in NYC! It's just so fun and a totally different environment than other rooftops you'll find in the city. They have hammocks and games, you can really spend a good amount of time there. Not to mention the wine is decent, and they have a variety of flights, with impeccable views of the city on a nice day. The only thing about this place that is super frustrating is the way they do reservations. It's honestly the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars. When I went here pre pandemic you could come and go whenever and there was no cover charge. Now they have this super bizarre thing where you have to make a reservation that's $15 per person in particular time windows, and there's about an hour between time windows that you can't go. So it makes going there requiring more planning than what feels necessary for going to a rooftop, and the cover charge is annoying, especially when there didn't used to be one. But even with the bizarre reservations and cover charge it's really worth going! I have been meaning to go to one of their movie nights because they look so fun, I'll definitely be back :) read more

It's $15+tx to get in. They give u a bag of chips n carton on water. If you a lucky the elevator guy will take you to 3rd floor then you walk up one more floor to the roof. Otherwise you'll have to take the stairs to the roof. They made me wash my hands in a sink near the entrance but let others behind me just go wo washing hands. I felt profiled! The views are amazing, people seemed happy bc they are probably drunk It was sunny so the server offered sun screen which was a nice touch. The bubbly rosé was nice n dry n crisp. I decided to come to rooftop reds to celebrate my birthday this year. Seemed like the best option, outside, lots of space, free flowing air away from the street and wine. Pre Covid you would rsvp on eventbrite at no charge but now it cost $15 per person. They have reduced their capacity and sectioned off the rooftop so that each group is not surrounded by other people. Your $15 comes with boxed water and a bag of chips. If you are going in a group buy all the tickets in one transaction. I had 13 people including myself and they gave us a huge space. I was able to do some light decorations and bring a cake. A vineyard on a Brooklyn rooftop? Totally unheard of, until now. What a way to kick off the long holiday weekend and the unofficial end of the summer with a glass of wine, a cool breeze, and a view of downtown Brooklyn. Do your research! Leave those heels at home. We did and were glad that we came prepared with comfortable footwear for the expedition. The TikTok video tutorial on navigating to the rooftop was pretty accurate. It was a trek but not as bad unless you used an alternate entrance on Cumberland Street like I did smh. Follow directions! The five flights of stairs were no joke. Although I appreciated the motivational stickers along the top of each flight, I would have much preferred an elevator ride but not in the freight elevator which was only available for use by special request in advance. It was thoughtful that we were offered boxed water by the staff once we reached the top as if it were our prize lol. Any medals? The floor layout was interesting as we sat among the grapevines, which were secured by nets, There were three hammocks, a few games, and a movie screening area. After working up an appetite following the cardio workout on the "Stairmaster", we browsed through the menu and called in our order to Il Porto Pizza with our table number. I love the business collaboration. However, reality quickly hit us when we were told it would be 45 minutes before we could dig into our wood-burning brick oven pizza pies. Let me tell you, kudos to the delivery staff who have to trek up and down those stairs for each table's orders. The 12" was large enough for one person, and the 16" was ideal for a group to split. I loved the Washington pizza (fresh mozzarella cheese, chicken, and BBQ sauce). Don't bother with the Thai chili wings! The in-house flights (2 oz per wine) were interesting. I sampled the Sashay Rose trio (Rooftop Reds Sparkling Rose, 2022 Rooftop Reds Dry Rose, and 2021 Point of the Bluff Reserve Blaufrankisch Rose) but it was not the right pairing for my palate. The hospitality and ambiance were great. We finally asked about the purpose of the $15+ reservation fee per person and it is for the upkeep of their vineyard. We may come back for the Wine & Chocolate pairings this Fall, but there is no rush. You have to reserve a spot ahead of time on eventbrite ($12.41 - I believe last year it was closer to $20) and the location is in the middle of nowhere. You have to walk up stairs to get there; there is no elevator. The first "vineyard rooftop" is just some plants next to the table. You're supposed to get a box of water and chips upon arrival and I didn't get any. It took forever to get a waitress' attention for everything; Prices for wine are typical. They have an option to order pizza from a spot nearby, and after an hour we called about our order; they had forgotten it. 45 minutes after the phone call (so almost 2 hours at this point) we got our pizza, which was cold! I had really high hopes for this place because I've tried their wine before at an event and loved it. First, as all the other reviews mentioned finding their place is a nightmare. There are no clear signs and it is confusing. Then, nowhere on their website does it say that "reservations are required" it only says to make one. Their website doesn't explain that you NEED to make a reservation just to go and sit at their place which it's insane. It's 15 dollars a person to just go inside which gets you a bottle of water and some chips. Anyways, when we finally found the place the first person to help us was super kind and explained the situation and then wen to look for a place for us to seat. A little oasis in the Downtown Brooklyn area. Enter building 275, go up about 4 flights of stairs and boom, you have made it to the rooftop. Nothing too fancy, think of it as an urban picnic area but on a rooftop. I was greeted by a wonderful host/server, who offered boxed water at the entrance. He wore many hats and definitely made the experience enjoyable. There is a greenery wall with lit up signage for pictures and a corn toss(bean bag). I tried a Petrini Pilsner, a 2021 Rooftop Red Gruner Veltliner, olives and Creamery Welsh Cheddar with crackers. We came here last May and had a lovely time. The wines were simple but affordable, and the pizza from the place nearby was exactly what we needed to stay (relatively) sober. The vineyard is hardly lush, but the evenly spaced splashes of wine-growing greenery are a nice contrast to the concrete jungle panorama surrounding you. This a great Experience for those that can't make it to the really big wine tasting events outside of the city. The server explain which chocolate goes with which wine they are serving. Rooftop Red's is a great concept marred by lackluster execution. The concept is a rooftop vineyard, and on that they deliver. The growing grapes are identified by their varietals, and signs adjure guests not to touch the plants. There are several outdoor areas where one can sip a New York wine, which is what they feature, and perhaps indulge in a light nibble. There's a nice view of the Brooklyn skyline, and a glimpse view of the Manhattan skyline as well. While it's very cute, it's actually on the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which means a "reservation" must be made beforehand and guests must pass through the guard gate. Not a big deal. Then, they must climb five flights of stairs to the roof garden, as they're not allowed to use the freight elevator. Which may help explain why the place is primarily popular with a younger crowd. The older you get, the tougher five flights become. The wines range from O.K. to pretty nice, and the prices are fairly reasonable. It would be better if they had a wider array of snacks, as there is a "No outside food" sign at the entrance, meaning guests are stuck wth what's available. I ordered brie and crackers, which turned out to be Presidente brie -- basic grocery store stuff -- and Ritz crackers. Not bad, but nothing special. Two Rieslings were quite good, and made in what I assessed as the German style. One was dry, the other half-dry. It's a great place to watch incoming storms, as we did tonight. On the downside, unless you're an attractive young woman, don't expect much attention from the bartender. He'll explain the wines and pour your choice, but that's about it. Unless you're a hot female. THEN you'd have his attention. Which I say because it highlights that Rooftop Red's is a pleasant,but novel, place. Not one that lends itself to developing a cadre of regulars. At least not by my experience. But if you're looking for a pretty pleasant one-off experience, it might be just the ticket. read more

The stairs take you out in the beginning but the views are worth it. We had a very friendly sever and even thought it was his second day he let us know what his favorites were and what he saw people raving about during his time there. I love the picnic basket detail they added for the charcuterie board, however, I feel the charcuterie we ordered was a bit small considering the price. Over all I'd rate this place a 7.5 read more

This place was kind hard to find. If youre not good with stairs, there is a lift/service elevator around the corner- unfortunately we didnt know it was open for public use till we were coming DOWN. We were late and they are strict with the time slots so we couldnt enjoy as much as we wanted but the atmosphere of a rooftop vineyard.. an urban vineyard made the voyage worth it. The whole set up was cute! The wines.. left a bit to be desired but we did find a couple good ones (just not included in the flights). read more

This place is really cute, but not sure I can go over 4 stars. Location is out of the way, but I actually really liked that part about it because you feel like you're in the know when you finally arrive. The setup is also very beautiful and it's great to sit amongst the vines and look at the Brooklyn skyline. Only thing is the wine is...just ok. Like really not any better than the wine from Trader Joe's for $6. And super expensive. I paid $160 after tip for 2 carafes (probably 12 glasses), which is steep for the quality. But as a fun little treat to hangout with out of town friends, I think it checks a lot of boxes. read more

I've been to rooftop reds on two occasions, once before Covid and once after. Each time I died on that walk upstairs, bruh 5 flights!?!?!? Why can't I get an elevator pass??? Rooftop Reds reminded of the bars where you tend to bring your own everything however they'll supply you the liquor and view. The view from the rooftop both during the day and night is amazing. After being there for an hour you forget how hard you worked to get to the top. Seating pre covid is limited however since Covid seating areas have to be reserved and is spaced out. You get tons of room to safely social distance and masks are required especially outside your designated area. And all staff are fully masked up. read more

The rooftop area is quite bare with planters of vines arranged in rows and some fairy lights. There is also an area of artificial turf with corn hole. We got the "a little bit of this a little bit of that" flight which was a trio of decently sized pours. There was one white one rosé and one red. They were all good, I think if you like more new varietals you might prefer them more than I did. We also got the ice wine, which was absolutely delicious, and we highly recommend. The reason I thought that this only deserves three stars is because it seems very incomplete. The building is on the top floor of a very dingy building with quite dirty bathrooms. The only accompaniments that are served with the wine are popcorn and boxed water. We tried to order pizza from the associated pizzeria and it only arrived after we were done with our drinks. So basically don't show up hungry. I hope that as more people come to drink here they are able to expand their offerings and continue creating more of an ambience. read more

I went here with a friend on a Saturday evening to have some wine & chill. You have to reserve your spot beforehand online and pay $15 per person. This reserves your table and gets you a water bottle and a bag of chips. At our time slot (4-7pm) it was relatively empty which was surprising considering it was a warm August evening. The menu consists of wine by the glass, bottle, or flights. They also have small bites like hummus or you can order pizza from a local spot and have it delivered straight to your table. Our server Jordan was the absolute best and seemed to know everything about each wine. He was friendly & bubbly and honestly made our experience 1000 times better. Myself and my friend both got flights so that we could try as many wines as possible. For 3 flights, prices are around $20-30 which is reasonable considering brooklyns usual prices. The white and rosé were both really good but I wasn't a huge fan of the orange wines. In regards to the space, it is very Instagram friendly with hammocks, greenery, and a nice view of Brooklyn. They have small tables for 2 & bigger ones for groups. You do have to climb 5 flights of stairs to get up there & the building is a tad difficult to find, but overall this was a lovely experience and I can't wait to go back! read more

First of, it was SO difficult to find Rooftop Reds once I got to the area. We wandered around for about twenty minutes before figuring out where to go. The establishment is at the top of an industrial looking building in the back of the gated area (behind the grocery store to the left side). Once you make your way up a bunch of stairs, it is super cute on the rooftop. Looks like it was recently put together but still well done for the circumstances. They are social distancing and wearing masks. It started to rain while we were there are there were tarps hanging over some tables that made it okay to stay although not ideal. The wines were tasty, I enjoyed the flight options. We also ordered the charcuterie board which was kind of just cheese and crackers from the grocery store, but it was actually good so I didn't mind. Apparently, they have a per person entrance fee added to your check. Luckily, they forgot to add it to ours but its $15/head. Had we not walked up a thousand flights of stairs, we probably would have turned around when they told us about the fee. read more
