Tipsy is a really cute wine store on the sunny, tree-lined Myrtle Avenue strip. As I've mentioned prior, I don't know much about wines but Tipsy sells lots of them. I stopped in for a can or two of rosé. Lucky for me, I arrived just in time for a wine tasting outside the store. It was the perfect day and time for it too-a Friday afternoon in late July, close to sunset. I enjoyed a sip of a delicious orange canned wine and a really lovely sparkling white from Spain. Prices at Tipsy are pricey, even with a surprise coupon on my Yelp app at check-in. Staff is super cool though and the atmosphere is wonderful. I'll be tipping into Tipsy again. read more

3 stars because I really didn't like my expert here BUT they have a wine collection and decor that I did admire. Attitude goes a long way. I used to frequent this neighborhood a few years back and know that this places is new. Years ago it was a diner and my grandmother worked there. I walked in looking around taking in the atmosphere slowly thinking about how things change lost in my thoughts. I saw outside they had a box of wine 3 for $35 something like that and it was like a themed summer list or something I was interested. So inside the first thing I noticed were the displays that held bottles of wine with tags for perfect pairing. I like that. Opened up my Yelp checked in and boom I get 10% off smiles warmly like that's nice. Ok I think ima gonna get the summer box there was quite a selection and it was hot outside and I actually had my two teens in tow so I walked over to the register where the two attendants were talking together with a patron. I excitedly walked up and showed the Yelp coupon and was going to ask but the woman cut me off squinted at the discount and looked at the other woman and scoffed and said we don't do that here. As if it was second rate. You don't do Yelp. Bizarre Bc I'm definitely going to Yelp the business and I mean maybe they didn't know. Maybe they do not follow or want to get reviews. I felt like I was being way to pretentious and I should let it go and buy the damn wine and who cares it's just 10% so I did. But it's the little things like this that matter. Like oh I'm sorry we don't participate or I'm not sure or something other than making me feel back and giving me that blazeé attitude. Or when I turned to get the wine you took another patron while I walked across the room to get it so now I have to wait for the sales transaction to end instead of waiting for me to walk back 30 seconds or even offering to get it for. They did offer me the box of wine cold and so far I only tried the red it's not bad. There is a champagne and a Rose left to try. read more

I swept in here over the holidays recently, and was astounded at how easy they made it for me to buy 5 bottles of wine and a few accessories for a dinner party. I was on a time crunch and the woman who helped me knew her stuff and had me in and out in about 8 minutes flat, complete with wine pairings for my beef bourguignon and salads and sides that turned out to be delicious and very reasonably priced. I've been in a few more times. The shop itself is great: airy with a broad selection of old world, new world reds and whites with fun and helpful labels, a good wall of spirits, even sake and canned cocktails. I don't mind traveling 10 extra minutes for the service and selection. read more

Tipsy is my go to place for wine. The selection is more than affordably/reasonably priced (I know this because I worked in a restaurant and we sold a bottle at Tipsy for 2-3x the price here) and each bottle comes with a short description and recommendations for food pairing. Not to mention the staff is incredibly friendly and if you're having trouble picking one on your own they are more than happy to steer you in the right direction. Lastly, tipsy doesn't have the same kind of large scale wine producers. Like the store, they shop small and support the smaller lesser know but still equally as incredible wine makers. PLUS ++++ there's a frequent buyers program so if you give them your email they keep track of all the NEW BOTTLES of wine you purchase and then you get a prize. This wine shop is adorable! I was visiting some friends and wanted to get them a gift. And what is better than a bottle of Rose. Okay, okay, okay, I am a lady and I am obsessed with Rose, especially in the summer time. It's almost like people and their holiday Starbucks drinks fixation. Rose is intoxicating and addictive! When I walked in I saw the most colorful and fun mural against the wall. There was a beautiful cityscape with a giant glass of Rose. It was reminiscent of a sixties children's book art. I walked to the rose section quiet easily. There was a beautiful array to pick from. I enjoyed the descriptions below the bottles pointing you to the flavors you are looking for. I was personally drawn to the little knife label of "Armas for Guerra" Rosado Mencia (Produced since in 1879 in Spain). I picked the bottle and figured my friend's could chill it for later. When I walked up to the counter the gentleman offered to get me a chilled bottle. The lady working took my chilled bottle and ran my card on her ipad. And just like that I was on my way to my friend's house. I will make this place my go to wine spot whenever I'm in the neighborhood. And it's businesses like these that need the local support to be successful, so drink up! read more

I was walking around when I discovered Tipsy. I'm no professional when it comes to wine but I don't feel uncomfortable when I visit Tipsy. I LOVE that there is a description under all of the wines as well as suggested pairings. The people that work here are more than happy to help you find something to try. I continue coming back! I always buy a bottle of wine here before going to my friend's place. Unlike other liquor stores, I don't walk out with a bottle in a brown paper bag. Tipsy's packaging, with no additional cost, is very pretty. All of my friends feel overjoyed when I give them the wine. I totally believe that packaging should be considered as much as the gift. If you want to upgrade your packaging, there are options as well! Really LOVE this place! Hopefully, I will be back soon! read more

Good selection of affordable wine. There are so many wine shops to choose from but Tipsy stands out because of the consistently excellent customer service. The folks working here are always nice and helpful. I often choose Tipsy over the other shops because I know it will always be a good experience. For all the political correct slogans this shop posts outside, the employees sure are not that subtly racist. I've been living in this neighborhood for 6 years and have spent probably 2k+ at this store - they don't even carry great wines I just come here for cheap bubblies and liquors - and I've been asked if I were in the reward system no more than 5 times overall. I've stood in line many times and heard the employees ask other white customers about it plenty of times to know that this is not a coincidence. Same kind of nonsense POCs have to experience in NY restaurants. The COVID 19 virus situation sure didn't help Asians to get better treatment in the store. read more

This place is SO cute! I stopped in on Saturday evening to pick up some wine for a dinner party in the area and was totally blown away. The staff was super sweet and helpful and they were having some sort of little party! It had such a close knit neighborhood feel and everyone was chatting and tasting wine and eating chocolate and sandwiches off of a table in the middle of the store. Beautifully decorated and the wine selection was excellent. They gave me a super cute "shop small" tote bag for free with my purchase. I live about half a block from this wine shop. What drew me in was the clever branding and bright beautiful window. I was a pretty regular customer and my girlfriend even joined the monthly wine share program. However the last few times I've been, there was a lack of customer service and they straight up stopped charging me for my monthly wine program and offering me a selection. Doesn't really feel like such a friendly environment anymore which is important for a wine shop. You should be educating your customers and creating an atmosphere where they feel welcome and can try new varietals outside their comfort zone. read more

This place is fantastic!! The store, the branding and packaging are really cute and well-thought out (I really appreciate these little details). The girl at the store was very helpful, she very patiently described all the different selections for me, and helped me choose a fantastic Riesling and Cava! Their prices are reasonable and there are choices for every budget... I will especially be coming back for their "Weekender", which is 3 pre-selected wines for $30 - a super cool idea, as I am usually clueless when trying new stuff. The big colorful mural on the wall is what caught my eye, and once I was inside I was really loved the merchandizing and clever signs above the wine displays, like, "This wine is our guilty pleasure" and "This wine will impress your wine-snob friends. The tags accompanying nearly every wine, declaring it "good for pizza," "romantic and smooth" and such, are cheesy and completely helpful...great idea, especially when the store is busy and someone might not be able to take the time to help you select the perfect wine. I went in here when the shop was not busy during the week and the woman working there was so nice and helped us choose a case of wine bottle by bottle. We were so thankful. She even delivered it to our home after the shop closed! We will definitely be back. She also introduced us to an app for smart phones called Delectable, which lets you take a photo of the wine label and it instantly recognizes the label and lets you see other reviews of people who drank the same wine. It's basically Facebook for alcoholics. Highly recommended. read more

I have been to this store in person and received fine service, but...delivery is so weird. They say they offer delivery but what they really do is order like uber or something to deliver the wine, so you have to meet them at the curb. Which is...not quite delivery, but whatever. Last night was the oddest delivery I have ever had in my life. The woman who dropped off the wine was extremely angry and nearly combative with me. 1. At 8:40, an hour after I placed the order, I got an email from them saying "to call the store." 2. I didn't check my email until 9:00 and asked for the phone number to reach them because the number on their profile didn't work. (Something about the wireless caller not being available.) 3. 9:15, I get an email back with the same number. I call the number 3 or 4 times and each time the operator comes on. So I sit back and figure, well, I guess they won't be delivering today. 4. I get a ring from the doorman claiming I have to come downstairs. I see the delivery and as I'm about to grab it realized that the woman standing creepily at the door is staring daggers at my face. She apparently tried to call me 100 times (her words), but never got through. I explained that I also tried to store and couldn't get through. She immediately said, well I've been calling people ALL DAY at the shop so...um, I'm not just making that up for my benefit. I am telling you what happened. She proceeds to tell me probably at least 4 times that I am REALLY lucky that she did this for me because she NEVER makes deliveries and she just happened to drive to work today. Really lucky. Really lucky to be stuck in my lobby with you berating me for 10 minutes...thanks, I guess? For doing the service I already paid you for? Look, I get that it must have been frustrating trying to reach me, but you know what? It's really unacceptable to treat anyone like that. Period. I'm unsure of why she continued to stand in my lobby - I guess she just wanted to make me feel as badly as possible? I literally couldn't leave because she just kept standing there telling me how lucky I was. It was awkward and embarrassing. And when you act like that, NO ONE FEELS BAD FOR YOU.
