Disgusting! My husband had been wanting me to try it because when he ate there, he said it was good. We both got the roast beef, it didn't look gross or anything but it was genuinely the worst beef we had ever tasted. My husband spat his out after the first few bites because he couldn't endure it any longer. I liked the bun and was picking at it in order to not offend him for suggesting we have lunch there but when he spat his out, we both looked at each other acknowledging that the sandwich was vulgar. I told him I was starting to feel queasy. The only things I know to compare it to is when you see browned/grey beef sitting in the clearance section of grocery store meat department. You get the nauseated feeling. Another thing I could compare it to is the idea of old beef soaking in spoiled milk. There was just something incredibly wrong with that roast beef. Maybe they was having an off day? Maybe they wanted to use the rest of yesterdays toast beef? Was fine with the change of BBQ sauce last year, but prices jumped from under $5 a sandwich to almost $7 now to line up with the new Roy chain opening up. Serves Coke products, but their diet coke was as good as the golden arches...but I hate coke, so that may not be saying much. I had seen this place before, and never seen or heard of another. In the mood for fried chicken I thought about driving to Popeye's but this was real close by. I got a breast ($3) and a thigh ($2) and a Diet Coke $2. Surprised how well it tasted. Could be a little less greasy but portion was good. Might add a little salt to the batter. Once upon a time, many years ago in Cincinnati, there were a dozen or more Roy Rogers Restaurants, serving burgers, fries (in "holsters"), fried chicken, and of course their outstanding sliced roast beef sandwiches in a fast-food setting. Originally thriving, the chain dwindled down to just one location on RT32 a mile or so east of Eastgate Mall, and this location had a cult like following, jammed with customers, especially on the weekends. They were forced to change their name a few years back when the old Roy Rogers company tries to make a comeback, and last year, had to close in a lease dispute This year, that business, which had renamed itself to Roneys (the name of the street the business was located on), reopened in a brand new building in Milford to huge crowds and rave reviews. I couldn't be happier to see them return My favorite thing to order is the large roast beef, but I ask for it on the regular sized bun for a better meat-to-bun ratio, Their hamburgers are also very good, especially the Lucky R (once called the Double R, and still called that by original loyal customers) topped with a slice of american cheese and some good sliced ham. The little\kids cheeseburger (still called the Buckaroo) is the best in town, and I will often order one of these in lieu of fries. Two very unique things about this place - the fixin's bar and the bbq sauce. The fixings bar is nothing more than a small salad bar where you can load up your sandwich with all the shredded lettuce, fresh sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, and pickles you want, as well as any of Roys, err, Roney's sauces. The bbq sauce is grainy, sweet, with a little heat that builds as you eat - not like any other bbq sauce I have ever had. It is perfect with the roast beef, the fries (yep, skip the ketchup), and the fried chicken . My kids dearly love the apple crisp, which is nothing more than warm apples and apple pie filling in in a cup topped with cinnamon streusel. My dad has been telling me about this place for years but I don't get to Milford often tonight I stopped in and I'm glad I did the lucky R burger was great and the salad bar of condiments and eextras like lettuce tomato and onion was a nice touch. I don't think I can give a fast food place 5 stars, but I'll easily give Roneys 4. Much is nostalgia. This is a throw-back to a former Roy Rogers franchise that got their name-sake yanked out from under them by the corporate know-it-alls. Well, this (former)franchisee had been purchasing through Roy Rogers distributors for decades when they took back their name. So he knew exactly what BBQ sauce, and horseradish sauce, and roast beef, and fried chicken, and etc. distribution services they used, changed the name to Roney's, and continued on, exactly the same, but without the corporate overlord. My dad used to take me to their original location, so I've got history, I guess. Then the landlord gave them the boot. Probably a year-and-a-half later, they (re?)opened in Milford. Similar shape to the building/dining room. Same food you'd expect. This is not gourmet, this is not hipster-chique, it is a renamed Roy Rogers roast beef and fried chicken place that gave the finger to corporate bastards that tried to bring them down. I don't eat at chain restaurants/non-local restaurants, but when I get the urge for fast food, Roney's is where I go. Hooray for the little guys!! read more

We just moved to Milford and would pass this place everyday. We never heard of Roney's but it was always busy so we just had to find out what was going on here. What's going on here is some sincerely fantastic food! It may sound crazy but my wife and I had to try everything. It was about 6pm; we got some Fried Chicken, a Roney's Burger, a Fish sandwich, fries and an Apple Crisp. We had enough food for a few days but had to get it. We were amazed how fantastic everything was. The fish sandwich was delicious; fried chicken amazing, Roney's Burger fantastic! The service and atmosphere was fantastic. If you haven't been here you definitely should add this to your list of places to visit! read more

I have seen some reviews that were not that high on Roney's, but let's be fair it was the old Roy Rogers so it is a traditional Fast Food Restaurant. Saying that it is a VERY GOOD Fast Food Restaurant. The Roast Beef is the real deal and better than an Arby's. You need to like it the old way it used to be served. Pretty wet but lots of flavor. The Fish Sandwich is huge and usually fresh to order. The Fried Chicken is a specialty. Nice for summer picnics. One of the things I like is that every sandwich comes plain. You add the "fixins" lettuce, onion, tomato, sauces yourself. Their BBQ sauce is unique. Different than a traditional sauce but it is addicting on Fries and Chicken tenders. It is family run business now not a chain, and they really care about their customers which is refreshing. It is Midwestern goodness no hipster pretension here. Sadly, I still remember how great Roney's (and formerly Roy Rogers) used to be. This visit, the first I've made at this location, was not up to snuff. The sandwiches are now all bun with very little meat between. Maybe they get less business at this location and need to cut corners. I don't know. I'm going to have be the outlier here, but I just don't get the hype surrounding Roney's (and this is almost fighting words for my husband). Maybe my 1st experience was skewed because it was the drive-thru at 2:30PM, but that shouldn't affect the food quality, right?! Our family of three was starving and coming home from a very sad event this past Saturday, and we wanted something tasty and comforting to eat. My husband has frequently talked up Roney's and I was instantly sold on the chance to try it. I was hoping for a scrumptious product like a Beef on weck, or at the very least the Rax sandwiches I remember fondly from my childhood. The drive-thru situation was ridiculous, the store wasn't busy and there were only two cars ahead of us. We crawled at a snail's pace and I don't understand why. For three reg roast beef sandwiches, a fry and a drink the bill was almost $20 which was even more perplexing. This food was not worth that price tag. The meat was skimpy and barely warm and flavorless except for being salty, flopped on a commercially-produced, unimaginative seeded bun that was grazed with margarine and barely toasted. My husband's fries were just there: skinny flash-fried, frozen shoestring potatoes. I didn't like the food, my daughter said it tasted like Arby's but she likes Arby's curly fries and Horsey sauce better. My husband held true to Roney's and insisted that the meat quality is better and that he likes it just fine. Which is great because some nights I'll cook something he doesn't like and he is welcome to pick himself up some dinner :) read more

This is a local eatery with a substantial following. You have to set your expectations for fast food that is really greasy. They serve up roast beef sandwiches, burgers, fried chicken, chicken tenders, and fish. They also have a dessert menu as well. They have coke products, and sides like coleslaw and fries. I'll be honest and say that I get the cravings for a Roney burger from time to time. The "Lucky R Burger" has roast beef on top, and I like to add horseradish sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion. If you go inside they have a small condiments bar with everything you need to top your burgers. The fried chicken is actually very tasty, and I usually go overboard by ordering a breast of chicken with my burger. The only reason for three stars instead of the four I want to give, is that they can be inconsistent in terms of their food being fresh and hot. I would recommend sending your food back if it isn't hot, because when it is, it's really tasty for fast food! read more

There is a condiments bar where you can add lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. It was fast service and great food! I would recommend trying it out. I used to enjoy Roney's growing up, and remember times when my mother and I would eat here and remember vividly we would have to go the ATM because it was "cash only". my last 2 trips to this location have been extremely underwhelming to say the very least. I bought a large roast beef, and it was more bread then meat for $5.00!! the french fries were rock hard both times, and seemingly I guess overcooked? the prices for what they are serving is no longer justified. I went to the drive-thru and pondered the simple menu of fried chicken dinners, ham and roast beef sandwiches and decided to order a 2-piece chicken and biscuit. I didn't see any salads or that's what I would have focused more on trying. When asked what sauces I would like I answered the one that no other restaurant has. The clerk suggested the BBQ sauce. The chicken is battered fried and the flavors took me back (way back) to the late 70s when our neighborhood had a delicious chicken restaurant. I'm still wondering what spices are in that chicken that I so adore. The BBQ sauce was at a medium consistency in thickness (or thinness) and spicy-sweet. Delicious. I never drive past that this place isn't packed--seems to be an old time favorite of many. I got the roast beef and cheese; it was good; tasted very fresh. Fries were nice and hot. Hubby ordered the cheeseburger, here's the odd thing.......when he asked what comes on it, she said it comes plain. Over $4 for a PLAIN cheeseburger??? Running Christmas errands and wanted a quick lunch. Went through the drive thru, which took a while, and I was hoping it was because it was a made to order place, but not the case. I got the roast beef and cheese sandwich. The bun was soggy, the roast beef was luke warm and super salty, and the cheese wasn't melted. I also got a small side of fries which were crispy, but bland. It's been several years since I've eaten there, and the place has quite a following to us Eastsiders. The new location, right off I-275 at exit 59, Milford Parkway exit is brand new, which seems bigger than their original location. The restrooms are inside now which was a change from their previous location. I got the large roast beef and a holster of fries for about $6 which isn't bad at all. Their barbecue sauce makes the sandwich much better. The roast beef itself beats Arby's hands down in my opinion, and is the only thing I've had on the menu. I need to expand my horizons. And they finally take credit cards! I've never had a bad experience here. If in Milford or passing through on I-275 definitely check it out. It pains me to write this, because I loved the food at the old location in Mt. Carmel and would use them frequently for catering events. Their food now, however, is horrible. We ordered a few chicken breasts and they tasted old AND pre-cooked, emitting the foulest odor. Maybe the frying oil just needed to be be changed, I reasoned, or maybe they've been frying a lot of fish lately in the same oil? In any case, the chicken tasted like the smell of a wet dog even though it was just fried. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Eagle, where their amazing chicken is actually marinated before it's fried, but this was just awful all around. Kids ordered chicken "tenders" which were worse than their cafeteria food: pre-formed, over-processed, unseasoned mystery white chicken parts pressed and fried. Even the kids didn't eat theirs. The fries were meh and had that same weird smell as the chicken. Service was friendly, and we didn't mind waiting 15 minutes or so for fresh fried chicken. This is not Arby's Raxs or any other wannabe roast beef. This is the real deal (Roy Rodgers) roast beef and its sooo delicious! Actually everything is always fresh and made to order. Good burgers roast beef and chicken. The sides are ok but for fast food this is as good as it gets! They do have an apple crisp that everyone seems to really like. They have a spot where you can get fresh onion tomatoes sauces etc for your sandwich which is really nice. If I lived closer I would visit weekly. read more

Hubs tried the coleslaw, said it was worst he's ever had with a strong bitter taste. I tried the biscuit, doughy and had overpowering baking soda taste. I couldn't even swallow the bite of biscuit. Roney's is a good fast food restaurant that is nostalgic for those who loved Roy Rogers back in the day. My wife and I both had the roast beef and fries which were good but not outstanding. All in all a cut above Arby's. Service was really friendly. Fries were really hot. All in all a good experience. Nostalgia wind out. I had the cheeseburger and chicken strips today, as well as the fries. It was superb! The fixing bar was awesome because I could get everything I wanted (pickles! They were so fresh and crispy.) on my sandwich. Also, it was very reasonably priced! One thing that was very cool about my experience was that the owner actually prepared my meal For me besides his workers. He was very personable and seemed to care about how my food tasted/ how I was enjoying it. The facility is very clean and bathroom was clean and smelled great. Overall, my experience was great and I couldn't have asked for a quicker and more satisfying meal on my way home from work. So glad I finally tried it! read more
