The restaurant is in an old Roy Rogers, so it is nostalgic. It feels like you might get that buttered and grilled bun on a juicy burger. The burger was a gray unflavored patty. You definitely get all the fresh fixings to put on: lettuce, tomato, onion and many sauces. The fries were crispy and delicious! We stopped in for lunch yesterday while in the area. We were disappointed enough we likely wouldn't ever return. First - the counter service was so unfriendly and unwelcoming it was off-putting. Even when greeting her and asking her how she was doing - she did not make eye contact, smile or even attempt to be friendly. My husband ordered the 1/4 lb Cheeseburger and a small Fries. I ordered a combo meal of a Roast Beef sandwich with Cheese, a small Fries and a small Coke. What a disappointment! The roast beef sandwich is fairly small for the price but was enough for me. The roast beef was dry. The cheese is just a cold piece of unmelted American cheese slapped on the beef. My husband said his burger tasted like preformed frozen meat and that it was very, very dry. He had a hard time even wanting to finish it because he said he didn't like it but was hungry. The fries were fine. The place was clean. And there were barely any customers at lunchtime. I can understand why. I know it's hard to compete with chains - but good food and good service go a long way. We had neither yesterday and so we won't be back. read more

We got the Cheeseburgers thru the drive thru. I ordered it with lettuce onion only. Bf got cheeseburger with everything. When I opened the bag there was a small covered cup with tomato, little shredded lettuce and a slice of onion. So basically they were both plain. Stopped at Roney's for the first time in over a year, maybe 2 years. First thing I noticed is that all of the Roy Rogers memorabilia is gone and replaced with generic cowboy items. It would appear that this location may have also been sold to new owners. The next thing you notice is the menu has changed and that the prices took a big spike upwards. Not deterred by the pricing I wanted my Roney's fix but decided to pare back on what I was originally going to order. I typically get 2 sandwiches and a cup of water. Instead, I decided on the Large Roast Beef ($7.89), Regular Fries ($2.69) and a cup of ice water. The sandwich (with fixins bar) was great. The service was great. It was nice eating in the quiet, clean dining room. The drive thru was consistent as was the flow of customers in the lobby. There are pictures of their roast beef sandwiches and fries so I'm not going to add more. Roy Rodgers was a childhood memory so when I am in the Milford area I always have to make a visit. If you like real roast beef and not pressed Roney's is the place. They are know for their chicken which I've never gotten since the roast beef sandwich is what I want. It's a typical "fast food" place so nothing extravagant and don't expect top class service. read more

Service without a smile or welcome. Felt unwelcome. Floors were filthy and the place was dead. Ordered chicken. It was tough as leather. And the batter they had on it was funky. The area around the coke machine was nasty. I saw a guy throw almost a whole burger in the garbage before I got my food. I forced myself to eat the chicken as I was determined to enjoy myself. Almost a hour after leaving I can't leave the bathroom. Guess they gave me a dose of food poisoning. I have never been here before and don't not ever want to see this place again. We have ate at this location back when it was Roy Roger's and when it moved to Milford. We haven't eaten there in over a year because we moved away. Unfortunately the food is not nearly as good as it used to be. The roast beef is sliced too thick and somewhat tough, and it's fairly flavorless. It doesn't taste like they're baking a whole roast back in the kichen then slicing it anymore. It tastes like they're buying pre-cooked, pre-sliced roast beef from an industrial food supplier like Sysco. The bun is wrong, and the horseradish sauce has clearly changed and is completely flavorless. The constant stream of country music grates nerves. The new owners seem to be trying to make economizations that will end up ruining this restaurant. Very very disappointing and I will not be back. All of the Roy Rogers memorabilia is gone btw. read more

Ate here 8/28/2023. There are many restaurants in the immediate area and since it was lunch rush many had very long lines. Roney's was the exception and we learned why. Roast beef sandwich was hot and fresh. French fries were warm but had been sitting for too long. So fries were mediocre. The service was polite, but do not expect any sense of urgency. Serviceable food and will do in a pinch, but if you are the one restaurant without a line during lunch rush, you are not doing something right. read more

Since new owners took over quality has been going down and still is. Last night they took hamburgers that were sitting in the case and reworked them and rewrapped. My roast beef bun was totally soggy like it has been sitting around for hours. This review is not a reflection of the food but of the restaurant itself. The place is filthy! It started at the door. When was the last time the door handle was cleaned? Nasty. The floor looks like it was mopped with a dirty mop and water. Detergent? I used the men's restroom and it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while. When was the last time anyone scrubbed the door? The "fixins" bar looked suspect. Added together it makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. This place had much higher standards at one time. Not so much today. read more

It had been more than a year and a half since I went to one of my childhood favourites. The artist formally known as Roy Rogers is still going strong out in Milford. They still had all of the original decor that Roy Roger's has always had making one of my kids to comment that it was like stepping back in time coming into the restaurant. They added a plexiglass pane up at the counter where you order but that seemed to be the only change from the pandemic. The food was as legendary as ever. The roast beef is as high of quality of roast beef as you'll ever taste with it being juicy and such superior flavour. Add to that the world's most delicious bbq sauce (that you can buy in a jar! and heaven is complete in the form of a roast beef sandwich. I also got the Lucky R Burger which is basically a cheeseburger add ham. The ham is a little on the gamey side but it's worth having on there and the hamburger is juicy and very flavourful in all the right ways. Lastly their fries are always made to order and thus hot, crispy, and delicious. Also worth mentioning their chicken is some of the best as well with a really great breading and juicyness in the chicken. Definitely a worthy option. And the family all loves the apple crisp. I guess what I'm getting at is most everything at Roney's is delicious. read more

The owners really need to update this place! The booths are crude - bare wood to sit on. The posters on the wall are faded yellow and the cash register had two wires hanging out of it. I ordered two chicken dinners (with firs and coke slaw), and an extra regular fry. The total was $24.?? Once I was home, we started eating. Then, we stopped and threw it in the garbage. It tasted like the chicken and French fries were cooked in old, cheap grease. The chicken was also overdone. My daughter threw her fries away due the taste of them. What a disappointment. I have always loved this place. But, today when I went in after not coming for a while, I order food and realize they changed the french fries to something like Burger Kings, and they were disgusting! The chicken legs I ordered, were so tiny and barely had any breading on them. I don't know if they changed, cooks, and manufactures of their food? Stopped in on way home from Cincinnati Wasn't busy at first but once inside it got busier once there. The workers were very nice and polite with smiles. Clean place and the roast beef was awsome. STILL the only "original" Roy Rogers in town, despite the opening of their new franchise in Cleves, OH, with more to follow. The Lucky R is nearly twice the size, the french fries are hot & cooked to order / perfection and the barbecue sauce is still made in house. Cleves is much closer, but Milford is worth the extra 10 - 15 minute drive if I'm in the mood for REAL RR's food & menu. read more

Since the sale, prices are through the roof and today's roast beef sandwich had a strange cheap oily butter taste to it ruining it for me. Nobody comes here anymore it's way too busy literally 50 cars in the parking lot if you include the grass parking area You almost need to block off time when you come here and make it a family event but it's worth it. Because they only use fresh ingredients and did not listen to the original franchisors they were kicked out of the franchise God bless their independence! read more

I've always been a fan but....Roast Beef (large) was so soaked in butter that the bun was falling apart. Couldn't eat the bun. Meat portion seemed the same for a regular. Please go back to your usual high standards. Didn't have time to go back through the line for another which to their credit I know they would have done. read more

I had been here in a long time, so I decided to try it again. I was shocked at the price for a roast beef sandwich. Nearly 7 dollars for a small roast beef sandwich. I understand that prices have went up everywhere, but in this instance, it's absolutely ridiculous. Plus, it doesn't taste the same as it used to. I have to commend the Milford RR FAMILY for keeping their roy's open as long as they did. but I do not believe the family owns Roney's anymore and sold it to the new Roys franchise group named one holland that will be opening new RR restaurants in the ohio kentucky area for the RR ownership Group back east that tasted totally different from when I worked for Roys in Ohio with Frisch's back in the 80's. I was a Manager at Dayton Mall, Needmore and Dorothy Lane in it's hey day but all good things must come to and end as it did when Marriott sold the RR rights to Hardees and Frisch's either closed RR locations or converted some to Hardees and well you know the rest of the story, however this RR Family as their own independent stayed opened until the new RR Group bought the license and wanted the last Ohio RR to convert to the back east menu which isnt really that good which is why you see some low ratings on RR Cleves ohio site. Unfortunatly, for Roneys it has become harder and harder to find the ingredients and providers to match the exact taste of the special RR items of the day which made us all smile and so you are now seeing a changing of the guard in the quality of some of those items in addition to a new owner at RONEY'S. In the day Frisch's had it's own commissary anda lot of the RR supplies were coming from there and the Milford independependent RR would also buy from Frischs not from the back east RR. I miss the original Roy's, the customer's, the food and frisch's treated me GREAT as their first african american manager for Roy's a very special opportunity for me and I will always be grateful to Mr. Mappin VP for RR at Frisch's for that including helping me with my employment transition when our RR Restaurants closed. I just hope that one holland will be able to cater to the taste of this region. read more

We've been Roneys customers for years but today we decided that one of our favorite menu items just doesn't live up to its reputation.The roast beef sandwich was excellent as usual but the apple cheese crisp continues to disappoint. I remember the restaurant when it was in its old spot and it was a tiny place. I like that new restaurant a whole lot better, because it's a lot more roomy and they have equally friendly staff still, which is great. The food is amazing and is usually quite consistent on being delicious. I'm not sure why some of the other folks are giving this restaurant three stars and less, but I guess when the service in the restaurant was given to them, those other folks came at an off time for the restaurant. Oh well. As another reviewer mentioned, this restaurant is a lot better than Arby's is on its roast beef sandwiches and Roney's has amazing barbecue sauce. My husband had never eaten here prior to me bringing some home for him one winter night and he just LOVED IT.
