we have been a customer of romney for over 5 years. there service and customer support staff are wonderful and the contract is very cost effective. today datron arrived ontime and was pleasant as always. he entered our home with blue she coverings and proceeded to treat all the baseboards on the first level of our home. he went outside and knocked down any spider webs and hornet nests. datron sprayed the entire exterior and stopped back to share what he accomplished today. we shared a cold drink and said goodbye. read more

the guy just sprayed foam around the air conditioner and a couple of spots on the roof. They were done in 20 minutes. The "Sell" was to replace the rodent system in the attic since we had a new roof and the roofers don't reinstall this system. It turns out the "system" is just foam sprayed on the flashing. you get burned at times from vendors, sometimes they provide value, this falls into the rip off low value, its a total money hustle. read more

We signed on with Romney after they came by doing door to door service offers. We had a silverfish issue in some bathrooms so we signed up to get quarterly treatment and pay $50 a month for warrantied service. My wife and I were not aware we were signing a 12 month contract where we would be charged 80% of the balance of the contract if we canceled early. Our fault for not reading the small print or asking. First treatment came about a week later, appeared to be thorough, inside and out, that was around May. In early September my wife saw the Romney truck pull up in front of the house, walk up to the front, turn around and go back to the truck, then drive away. My wife and I work from home and she was sitting in the front of the house working and witnessed this, she was walking up to the front door to tell the Romney guy we still had silverfish in the bathrooms so he could give them a spray while he was there but he split. There was no knock at the door, no doorbell rang, and my wife watched the entire transaction from inside the house, he pulled up and was gone in about 45 seconds to a minute. My wife called that afternoon, they claimed he had sprayed the exterior, not possible because the dogs were in the backyard when he came and we would have needed to pull them in the house. They apologized and sent another servicer out that week to spray the inside and outside of the house. We still have intermittent silverfish issues and the occasional ant bed and a huge yellowjacket nest in the front shrubs so bad the lawn guys won't pull the shrub. So I called to just cancel the service and try someone else. This is where it got a little awkward. Phone call started out nice enough after my call was returned, they said they could cancel the service, then came back and said I would owe about $274 for my 80% balance owed for the last 7 months. When I had an "ill" reaction and said I'd need to reconsider obviously and that I wanted it noted I would not be renewing and cancel service as soon as I was out of the penalty period she asked what I wasn't happy with. When I explained what had happened in September and that we were still having occasional issues she basically said there was nobody home when the guy that was here for a minute came over, obviously that was noted in the file. When I explained that was incorrect and my wife saw the entire transaction she basically dismissed it "well I can't speak to that, all I know is what is noted from the installer" at which point I got a little short and said fine, I guess we are stuck and hung up. less than a minute later the woman I had spoken with called my wife, discussed the cancellation with her, said she would note in the file to end service at the 1 year contract date, and proceeded to explain what we did wrong. The entire time referring to the September incident as the time when they came over and knocked the door but got no answer. Then she explained that was an exterior service only, so why did they need to knock lol, and we needed to call them to spray inside as part of the warranty service. She basically talked herself into a logic circle claiming the guy didn't spray because nobody answered the door and then telling us they didn't need to knock to service the exterior and it was sprayed, all while dismissing the fact my wife saw the whole deal as if it never happened. I guess we are idiot liars that cant read a contract and make up stories about pest control visits. UPDATE After posting this review we were contacted by our customer service rep with Romney who spoke with her manager and agreed to drop a months service in an effort to make good on prior service issues. Service may be ok I'm not sure as I'm never around when the techs are supposed to be at my house. Upon signing up for a free 1 time service.... I really signed a year contract.... that I found out AFTER THE FACT. Rep said "call anytime you see bugs, we come out anytime".... i was informed recently treating For mosquitoes is a separate service. After being pissed that I got into a contract that I can't afford..... I agreed to keep it because if I broke the contract it's a crap ton more $$ than If i just pay monthly for a year. I know you merely can't get rid of all bugs entirely but there's no change to my house and the bugs I had before getting involved with this pest control company. I don't recommend them.... we still have ants, mosquitoes and spiders just like before. So pretty much in a 12 month contract for really no improvements on the pests. And I'm barely 3 months in. read more

These guys are expensive and lock you into a year long contract with monthly payments of $49/month and if you want out, you must pay 80% of remainder. I have had to call them twice to come out and respray in the first month! They did come out and they were courteous but I HATE these long term contracts and only signed up because the kid selling was a go getter, knocking on doors in summer heat. read more

When I mentioned to today's door ringer from Romney Pest Control that there's a pandemic going on and he ought to think about wearing a mask to protect himself and others, he replied with "Well, it's pretty much gone in Texas right now, so it's fine." Really?!? Aren't they reporting hundreds of new cases in DFW every day? Above all he is very knowledgeable about pest control. He was very patient and took his time to apply treatment to each and every problematic area. I told him that my 3 and 6 years old got bitten a lot by the ants. Not only he treated the perimeter of our house, he also took care of the area where we placed our trampoline. I've been overall pleased with the service from this company. We've been with them a bit more than a year now, I think. We moved recently and had no problem transferring our service. We're out in Fate in a new build... and the bugs are freakin crazy out here. I had to call them out for a retreat a few times because I didn't feel like the chemicals were still working. Thankfully, the retreats are done at no cost and without question! The techs are in general friendly and professional. My biggest gripe with this company is that we have a different tech every time. When we lived in Vegas and had a different company, we had the same tech every time who knew us and knew our problem areas, etc. Today's review is prompted by fantastic service from Luis Rivera. He took the time to listen to all my concerns and addressed them. And then also took the time to answer all my questions about the safety of the chemicals around our new dog. I would not recommend Romney AT ALL. Ever since we switched, we have spiders all over the house. Tech who showed up asked if he needs to spray inside, when I said "yes" he ignored me saying that spraying outside probably will be sufficient and left without let me know. Calling office number you will probably will get to voice mail. If you get call before your service with "Application failed. Goodbye", it's how Romney notifies you about service appointment. Can't wait to get out of my contract. read more

I do not recommend this company AT ALL. Their techs were nice and their salesman, although, persistent was pretty nice too. Their business practices, however, are less than satisfactory. I recently moved to an apartment out of the service area and inquired about how to cancel my services as I would no longer be needing them. I reached out via email and their Office Manager, Sabrina, was less than helpful in this process. She ignored several emails and voicemail request for a return call. When I was finally able to get in contact with her, she was very rude and unpleasant. I was able to get my contract terminated and a refund for the most recent payment they took out AFTER I contacted them about cancelling. On top of all that, they must have been using placebos and passing them off as chemicals, because I never saw a decrease in the insects in and around my home. I'd say a pest control company that can't control the pest is pretty useless. There are other, better companies... don't waste your time with this one. read more
