I've walked and driven by here a number of times, but never stopped in to check out the place. Thanks to the Lord of the Pies contest I finally did and wasn't disappointed. The thing that stood out the most was how friendly the staff was there. The guy behind the counter started some small talk which evolved into a discussion and the girl in the pastry section soon joined in. You'd think I was a regular not a first timer. The food is definitely worth checking out. My girlfriend and I had pizza, which was actually very good, but they had some amazing looking meats and cheeses, antipasti, and calzones. I couldn't resist the pastry there and ended up with a very tasty eclair and the wine biscuits were really good too. Getting back to the pizza, the crust was very tasty. My experience is if the crust isn't great, chances are the pizza won't be either. The toppings looked and tasted like quality toppings and the wood fired oven just wrapped it all togethr nicely. Stopped in here on a hot day as we were out checking out a festival. We were so excited to see wall to wall Italian deliciousness. Their deli cases were full of all types of healthy Mediterranean pasta or legume salads. I ended up eating a delicious chicken piccata with rice and vegetables. The lemon caper sauce was wonderful. I took one of their famous rice balls to go for a snack. My dining companion had a sausage and pepper sandwich, which looked awesome, ordered a small lentil salad to go. On our way out the door, we spotted gelato & just had to have some. Would highly recommend Roma for lunch or any Italian deli needs. read more

Good Sandwich The Italian deli and prepared food selection is extremely delicious, the bread is probably the best tasting, I've ever had. A cool Italian marketplace featuring a deli, cheese shop, and bakery. I just had an excellent Italian sub from there for lunch. It featured 5 meats (including salami, mortadella, capicolla) plus provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, oil and vinegar - all on a firm fresh baked roll that held all the ingredients well. The marketplace is a great spot to grab a quick delicious bite to eat. They have plenty of prepared food options including calzones, pastas, and meats. They have a deli area where you can get a made to order sandwich. There is a giant counter for dessert. They also sell packaged pastas and sauces to take home. I tried a slice of their cheese pizza. It was delicious. The crust is thin. It has a good flavor. The end of the crust is crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. The cheese tastes fresh. I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon to grab some meat and cheese for a picnic in a nearby park. The options were amazing and it was great to see different types of cheeses as well as meats you can't get in a typical grocery store. Been going to Roma for years. Never have I had a bad meal there. The staff are wonderful and helpful. Prepared foods are phenomenal, and i often (at least twice a week) get take out of the prepared food. Bread and pizza/calzones are also great. Would highly recommend Roma to all. The deli at Roma is phenomenal! The veal and peas dish is a must if you like veal - it is very tender and tasty, usually served with a generous side of pasta. My favorite is the tasty, delicately prepared eggplant - plain or in a sandwich. Stuffed eggplant and stuffed peppers are also yummy! All kinds of cold salads are available. And if you are in the mood for a really healthy salad, try the arugula which includes cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, and more! Bread is also included with your order. The calzones, spinach, cold cut, spinach and pepperoni, and more are all plentiful and excellent. Remember your sweet tooth - buy some wine biscuits, either red or white as both are so wonderful with a cup of coffee or tea. The other dessert that is my favorite is the shell-shaped filled Italian pastry native to Campania. the sfogliatella which means "small, thin leaf/layer", because the pastry's texture resembles stacked leaves. Regarding accommodations if you want to eat there, several small tables are located in the deli, but there is also another room in which you can be comfortably seated by the windows for a view of Federal Hill. Not a restaurant, it's a deli with 2 tables inside and 3 outside. Mostly food to go. A reasonable selection of pastries, sandwiches salad, some canned goods and other baked items. Some pizza by the slice. I just had a coffee and pastry. Coffee was good and pastry was fresh baked. All items look fresh. Prices are low for the area which has a reputation for good restaurants and I'd therefore an expensive neighborhood. Seemed popular with the locals. There was a steady stream of customers, but they were handled quickly and efficiently so there was little wait time. Staff was very friendly. read more

We were going to buy a piece of pizza, but the ones that had out were burnt. It was my first time in here. I was a little turned off by the face that they would put burnt pizza out. I looked around anyway and it has many nice qualities. They have a great menu of prepared foods and a case of desserts. They also sell many Italian options to take home and cook. My husband and I took an hour's drive last Sunday, July 17, to see Little Italy in Providence. We didn't know which place we would pick for an early morning espresso, but when we passed Roma, we saw "espresso" and "cappuccino" on the awning which did it for us. The barista that served us was so kind and accommodating. What a cappuccino she made! The best I have ever had, and I have been to Italy. We also had a few of the almond espresso biscotti. Delicious. We had our rehearsal dinner there the night before our wedding and it was wonderful. There was plenty of food (so much so that we ended up having family take some home), and everyone gave us compliments for how good it was. The wait staff was very nice and accommodating, and we're very glad we chose the place. Roma's salumi & formaggi and prepared foods section is very good. Not as extensive as Venda Ravioli, but it's certainly quite well-stocked with imported Italian cheeses and cured meats - equivalent quality to Venda but a tad better priced. The prepared foods are better IMO - especially love their braised pork slices. Always a mistake to go there when hungry, because we end up buying a bit of EVERYTHING! We've patronized Roma for years now because its quality is high, prices are better, and crowds are fewer; in addition, the salumi/formaggi service guys are excellent and have been long-time Roma employees. Roma is our default marketplace for our faves: imported prosciutto, mortadella, porchetta, sopressata, and parmigiano. They also have other canned and bottled Italian gourmet foods and ingredients; and also offer pizza by the slice, a coffee bar, Italian desserts such as cannoli and gelato. The only drawback is that I wish they had more of a selection of breads -- in this case, we'll typically stroll down to Venda Ravioli for a loaf where they have a larger choice. read more

We sat in the marketplace area until 9:10PM waiting for a table to open up. The manager would continually check up on us. He would tell us there was a table opening up soon and that we were next. Maybe 3 times. We did end up eating there after the manager offered us free drinks, and I needed one. Meanwhile, a couple walked off the street, put their name on the waiting list and got seated maybe 10 minutes after us. Good for them. Most of the the people who work here are really nice but today I was waited on by a young woman who seemed very rushed. When she completed my order she did not even acknowledge me.
