I was very impressed with the service. My pet peeve is dirty dishes sitting in front of people and that did not happen! The wedding cake was delicious. White homemade cake with a light strawberry cream. My only suggestion would be to have had someone to serve all the pies. It was kind of awkward having to do it yourself. Absolutely fantastic!!!!! Emily's catered my daughter's wedding at Smith Farm Gardens and totally nailed it. First, they were a joy to work with leading up to the big day. They were helpful, responsive, and everything was clear and upfront. There were no surprise charges, or "gotchas". In fact they did several things beyond the scope of the contract without additional charges. More importantly, on the wedding day everything went perfectly. They gave us great advice on the set up of the tables, chairs, bar etc. They listened carefully to everything that was asked of them, made a couple of outstanding suggestions and dealt with the problems caused by strong gusts of wind at an outdoor venue with calm assurance. All of the food was incredible. The hor's d'ourves were fantastic, especially the brie and artichoke tarts, mini lobster rolls and tuna tacos. The mac and cheese in mini ramekins were also a huge hit. The dinners were equally delicious. I had the half chicken, which was served with a delicious polenta. It was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, moist with a crispy skin. Other sides were served family style and were all fantastic. The dessert was also superb. Each guest received a trio of mini desserts, each of which was delightful. We had several guests with food restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free). The servers made sure the restrictions were observed, and they made it a point to bring appropriate appetizers to those guests, which was a very nice touch. All of the guests raved about the food. The service was also first class. There were so many servers handling the passed hor's d'ourves that every guest had multiple chances to try each of the offerings. Service of the dinner was equally impressive. The venue is outdoors, and it is a bit of a hike from the kitchen tent to the dining area. Despite that, the guests were served quickly, and the food came to the table still hot. Finally, their prices are quite reasonable, especially given the outstanding quality of the food and service. My daughter just got married at the Branford House, Avery Point. We had researched several caterers but were immediately impressed with Emily's. We took advantage of the option to sample their dinners, for a sum that was put towards our balance once we booked with them. We readily booked them because the food was delicious, the presentation was glamorous, and they were very familiar with the Branford House. I have to be honest, there were a few flaky wedding coordinators along the way. One dropped out only a month before the wedding! I'm not sure if they were employees of Emily's or consultants but the important take-away is that Rick (and Cheryl behind the front desk) made good on all promises. It was a very minor blip along the way. There was no need for a moment of worry. They were consummate professionals. The wedding took place last weekend. As my guests arrived before the ceremony, they were welcomed with a refreshment station: ice water, ice tea, or lemonade and popcorn served in bamboo tubes. After the ceremony, the cocktail hour started. There was a large round Mediterranean grazing table. My nephew, a connoisseur of fine foods, raved about the bread; there was so much delicious food to pick at! The passed appetizers were all outstanding! I could have just eaten them all night! My favorites were the stuffed jalapeño (very spicy!), the clam chowder served in tiny cups, the Mac 'n cheese served in tiny crocks, the truffle fries, the clam cakes...Oh, who am I fooling?! All the appetizers were super! The dinner was also hot and sumptuous! Excellent food is a key part of any wedding or event but Emily's is so much more than that! The weather was tentative and we didn't know if we'd have the ceremony inside or out. The staff was on top of pulling our party together! They moved chairs in and then out and then back in again without a complaint! My husband and I felt so secure in their ability to manage the details of the affair. They had everything figured out without bothering us at all! Each member of the staff treated all of our guests like royalty! Several of the guests commented about how great the staff was. In summary, the professionalism, reliably, and exceptional food is what makes Emily's the best choice for any event you have! I know that I have reviewed Emily's Catering Group before but had to give Rick and his crew a shout out for another incredible food experience. I am usually spoiled by my Wife's incredible cooking on Thanksgiving but it didn't make sense to do all of that cooking for 1 this year (she doesn't eat Meat) and it was just the 2 of us. Rick Kerzner at Emily's Catering Group provided an masterful Classic Turkey Dinner for me and my In-Laws . After following the easy reheat instructions, The turkey was cooked to melt in your mouth perfection with incredible flavor, the green beans and dinner roll were as fresh as could be. The stuffing, mashed and sweet potatoes were spectacular. Then to top it off was an apple pie with the nicest crust and filling. If you don't have plans to to hold an event any time soon but still would like to experience the best catered food in New England, Emily's has been thinking outside the box during these crazy COVID times by offering "Carry Away Food" Specials as well as intimate dinners in their tasting room. I got married a few weeks ago on 8/20/21 at the Branford House in Groton CT, and Emily's catering made our event absolutely incredible. My family has used Emily's quite a few times now for big events... The first being my high school graduation party, as well as my dad's 50th Surprise party. When it came to finding a caterer for my wedding, there was no one else that came close to the quality / value / attention to detail that Emily's Catering provides. Food is a big deal for my large Italian / Irish family, so we wanted to go "all out" and Emily's made it possible. My husband and I were able to pick up to 8 different Hors d'oeuvres to be passed out during the cocktail hour (most places only allow you to pick 2-3). The appetizers were not only delicious, but also extremely unique and fun! Some of the apps even came with a mini cocktail pairing! For example, the quesadilla app came with a mini don julio margarita! How fun is that?! My guests are still raving about the cocktail hour. We did a plated dinner with four different options, Chicken, Steak, Red Snapper or Portobello Mushroom (Vegetarian). Again, most places seem to limit you to only three options. We just kept getting more bang for our buck!! The portions were extremely generous and the flavors were to die for. We also had a late night pizza station, as well as ice cream bar / coffee station. I swear, my guests were just STUNNED by the fantastic variety. Emily's Catering surpassed our expectations. Essentially, my family and I were able to have a "baller" wedding for a reasonable price. The investment was well worth every penny and my husband and I could not be happier. Rick and Cheryl are highly professional individuals and a joy to work with. We hired them for our wedding without having tasted the food. At our tasting, the food was better then we anticipated. At the wedding, countless people told me and my wife that this, "was the best wedding food they had ever had". Rick was highly responsive to all of our requests. This weekend I attended a wedding catered by Emily's and it was amazing. Wonderful antipasti platter for the cocktail hour, delicious salad with goat cheese, great buffet with lots of vegetarian options, lovely dessert display, really nice wines on the bar and pretty table settings. Key for me was that the staff did not whisk everything off the table the minute dinner was over -- they waited until it was clear people had left for the evening before taking away their beverages or wedding cake. Nothing is worse than coming off the dance floor to find that you have no water, no cocktail, no cake, no fork, no napkin, etc. and yet the wedding still has two more hours to go. When it was time to plan my party, I contacted Cheryl and she created another great menu. Book Rick immediately - he and his team are so great to work with and the food is out of this world. At the tasting stage, we were especially impressed by two things - first, the Chilean sea bass (and the rest of the food, but seriously, the sea bass) and second, Rick's attitude and expertise. Some of other caterers we met with were too quick to say "we can do anything" - but we wanted someone with an actual vision and an ability to direct us towards a cohesive menu that would satisfy (and impress) a wedding that would have a lot of foodies from NYC. Rick not only met that challenge and designed a spectacular menu - from passed apps to mains to a delicious dessert bar - but also did it without raising the price every time we wanted to make a substitution or change a sauce (which other caterers tried). Rick also catered our welcome reception the night before the wedding, and did a "Taste of New England" themed event with lobster rolls, clam chowder, a sliders bar and lots of sides. Everything was so good our guests thought the rehearsal could've been a wedding feast, and they were even more impressed at the wedding - many comments that it was the best wedding food they've ever had (or that it shouldn't even be considered "wedding food" it was so good)! Everything about this company is amazing. Cheryl was so helpful and super responsive to our many e-mails. She took care of all the details for us so that I did not have to worry about anything being over looked. Rick is so experienced, it was great to know that I had nothing to worry about on the wedding day, in fact we were defaulting to him for the rain plan. Not only were they great before the wedding, my guests could not stop raving about how AMAZING the food was and all of the servers were so friendly and helpful. My friends kept asking how I knew to have hot cider ready for them given it was surprisingly chilly and really loved all the little details like bread bowls for the soup and rock candy for the coffee. I have been looking forward to writing this review since my wedding - Rick and his team were absolutely perfect in every single way. I had a wedding for 250 people at my parents home, so we needed to have an extremely organized team who could cook for the masses. And boy did Rick and team deliver! From the first planning phases to the day of, every detail was perfect. Rick planned the most creative menu I have ever seen - appetizers like shrimp with a squeeze bulb of tequila, mini crocks of mac and cheese, duck quesadillas, a grilled cheese bar, etc - and the drinks were outrageously fun. He personally made jalapeno-infused mezcal, and created a frozen vodka bar that my friends have been raving about for weeks. The entire salad and dinner course was served to 250 people in under an hour, and dinner was cooked PERFECTLY for everyone. Multiple people commented that their steaks were done just right and were the perfect temperature. More than that, Rick was kind, thoughtful, and such an absolute pleasure to have as a part of my day. I genuinely enjoyed getting to know him; he was quick to reply to all my emails, had innovative ideas, and he and his team made my day perfect. He truly understood how to make the food and drinks an integral part of the day. I will absolutely use him again and cannot say enough good things about him and his team! Emily's Catering catered our daughter's wedding reception in mid-November. They did a superb job in every way! Their prices and estimates were fair and easy to understand. Rick has wonderful menus- so hard to choose. We enjoyed a "tasting" dinner- delicious! We had guests who had specific food requirements; he was able to accommodate them. (One of our guests, who is allergic to gluten,commented that it was the first wedding reception she'd attended where she was able to enjoy the food!). Unlike so many caterers, Rick owns his own linens, china, flatware, etc.- no dealing with a rental company, trying to calculate how many forks we needed and worrying about whether they would show up with the right items! As the wedding approached, Cheryl was very helpful with place cards, amenity baskets, and other arrangements. Most importantly, the food at the reception was wonderful! It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We had an open beer, wine, and signature cocktail bar; it went very smoothly. The staff was terrific! Guests raved about the food! (One other item- early in the day, part of the town lost power. Of course, I was worried about our event. I was able to reach Rick immediately on his phone. He reassured me that the venue had gas cooking and that they could bring a generator, if need be. Fortunately, the power did not affect the venue, so it wasn't a problem. What I liked was the fact that Rick was immediately accessible on the day of the event.) If we ever have another big event, I would not even talk to other caterers- Emilie's was wonderful! read more
