Worth the trip out to Ridgewood! The steak was the best I've had all year. Also ordered the lasagna, scallop crudo, polenta bread and the branzino. Everything was priced really well. Was super surprised by the scallop crudo. Sweet and acidic. Service was quick. Scott was pretty helpful. Ambiance was packed on a Monday night. Definitely one of the best wine bar-esque restaurants in the city
Returned for dinner after a few years and it's still 5 stars for me. This time, I tried: + Calabrian chili butter polenta bread + Leafy green and herb salad + Rigatoni + Lasagne verde bolognese + Pork tbone + Rhubarb almond tart + Black Forest ice cream cake Top highlights were the lasagne and pork. Salad, rigatoni and desserts were also great. Can skip the bread.
This is just a short update to my other reviews regarding my most recent brunch visit. I was here for brunch a while back and had an opportunity to try their excellent $20 Double Cheeseburger, which comes with grilled onions, dijonnaise, and pickled long hot. This was worth the hype and easily the best thing here. The burger was very juicy, the cheese and dijonnaise added a slightly sour twang, and the grilled onions added a touch of sweetness. The pickled long hot on the side was a fun idea to add a bit of spice and extra sourness when needed, and reminded me of how they serve similar peppers with the rich pitas at the various locations of Miznon. Would recommend heavily, and if you want a side of fries, order the $12 'war style' which comes with a delicious mix of peanut sauce and kewpie mayo. The only thing missing from the brunch menu is some of the dips for their polenta bread If I had to recommend something here, it would be brunch. I still don't think most of the dishes are worth it, and this is especially true for the mains, so stick with appetizers and burgers.
We went for an early reservation and got to taste one of the burgers, between the group of us but wished we had ordered two! However they only have a limited amount each night. All the food was great, portion sizes arent very big so between four people you can definitely order a few dishes. The lasagne was incredible and the chili bread, basically anything from the huge pizza oven! Staff were nice. The restaurant filled up really quickly which made it noisy and waiting for the restroom a bit of an effort.
A solid meal, though I think it may be overhyped. The famed lasagna was good but I wouldn't make the trek to ridgewood for it. My personal favorite was the pork chop and leek. Fried green tomato with tuna tartare: the mayo overpowered the tuna but complemented the tomato. Polenta bread was not memorable and not worth the price.
Maybe I was starving, maybe it had just been a long day, or maybe it really was the best meal I've had in quite some time. We ordered the Polenta Bread w/olive oil and sea salt, the spring pea salad, the famed two sheet lasagna and the pork chop w/leeks. The polenta bread reminded me of a moister, chewier and softer pizza dough. The spring pea salad was fresh, crunchy, fragrant and refreshing. The lasagna was everything you'd hope it to be and the pork chop is a standout! They also top everything with maldon sea salt so I was a happpppy girl. Service is also amazing, our server was kind and all of the bussers were incredibly observant. 12/10 would recommend, the vibes are immaculate.
I dined here with another Yelp Elite on the evening of 1/24/26. We started off our meal with a pair of cocktails, made by the talented bartender Diondre'. I had a Zombie, which was made of three different rums. My dining partner had a Cosmopolitan. Neither drink was potent. We ordered the Calabrian Chili Butter Wood-Fired Polenta Bread (2/5 stars), Two Sheet Lasagna Verde Bolognese (5/5 stars), Crispy Potatoes "War Style" (3/5 stars), Double Cheeseburger (4/5 stars), Brown Butter Apple Tarte with Whipped Crème Fraîche (2/5 stars), Salted Caramel Chocolate Mousse (3/5 stars) and the Burnt Cinnamon Ice Cream (5/5 stars). My recommendation is to get the lasagna. It was my favorite entrée because it was sweet, salty, creamy and earthy--easily one of the best lasagnas that I have ever had. Do try the burnt cinnamon ice cream because it is incredibly rich, umami and creamy. Multiple waiters served us, and Hannah was my favorite. IMHO, she was the most hospitable. The vibe was cozy, and there was a constant atmosphere of loud music and dining partners enjoying their food and drink.
1/24/26. Dre was an awesome bartender, offering suggestions! He was so personable, unlike our hostess, Alex!! The cocktails were good but far from strong. The chili polenta bread was light and fluffy, good, not amazing. We got there early just to get the burger, which was flavorful but also greasy. The lasagna verde was better, so creamy. It would have been perfect if it was served hot, and had more filling/meat sauce spread evenly. Sauce was just placed in the center and too much oil was drizzled on top. Their fries were awesome, had great texture, but did not like the war sauces at all. For dessert, the cinnamon ice cream was the star by far. I wasn't a fan of their bestseller, the apple pie tart. Maybe it would've been better if it was served warm or had more apples. Didn't like it. The mousse was average/basic. Service was cold and could have def been better. Based on all the hype, I was expected to be blown away with the food and service. Sadly, I was not with either.
A cute and cozy brunch spot right on the Queens/Brooklyn border. The burger was easily our favorite -- the bread was fresh and soft, the patties were well seasoned, and the caramelized onions were actually caramelized (you know how rare that is). Don't sleep on the polenta bread either -- it had this amazing mochi-like texture, kind of like a pizza without toppings, which sounds weird but just works. For dessert, we went with the passion fruit crème caramel and the flavor was spot on, though we wouldn't have said no to a bigger portion. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly throughout. Solid brunch spot worth the trip!
Put my name down on a weekend for two, and got seated in about 30 minutes - we definitely got lucky! Food: We tried the olive oil and flaky salt polenta bread, and I thought it was good but nothing out of the ordinary (tasted a bit like fluffy pizza crust). We did however love the malfadine fennel pasta and famous two sheet lasagna! Service: Our service didn't feel like anything special, and our final receipt was completely messed up so overall not necessarily a stellar experience. Vibe: I really appreciate the ambiance and decor, but the music was a bit too loud.
Finally made it here early on a Saturday. The place was bumpin! I was able to snag a seat at the bar and the bartenders were both absolute gems! I love the welcoming vibes and decor here. I hated that the bar seats have no back but we have bigger things to worry about. They gladly took my coat to the office although there isn't a coat check, lol thanks! I got a spicy pineapple margarita. It was good but not a life changing cocktail. Then I ordered THE burger. Yes, it's worth the hype. It's more of a smash burger type patties. Seasoned wonderfully & not too much crap on top. My one issue is the bun...I wish it was tad more dense to hold up to the burger. Not sure if this makes sense? Without a doubt goes in my top 10 burgers in NYC. I also ordered the lasagna because I needed to make the trip worth it. I liked it but I rather old school lasagna! Sorry but $32 for that and I barely had meat...I don't know it wasn't the 2 sheets of deliciousness I was anticipating. I do think it's worth trying once! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu and burger again. I was too stuffed for dessert but I'll be back for that too.
Made it to Rolo's finally. The space feel very warm and inviting. The 2 Sheet Lasagna lived up the hype!! War Style Potato was delicious, but I'd do the sauce on the side to keep my potato ultra crispy. Calabrian Chili Polenta bread - I'm still dreaming about this! Probably my favorite dish. Pesto Malfaldine was pretty good, the pollen flavor was quite unexpected. Def worth a try!
We arrived at 4:30 to sip cocktails at the bar while waiting for a table when their dinner service opened up. For food, we got the double cheeseburger with bacon, Calabrian chili bread, pickled carrots, two sheet lasagna, and wagyu steak. I loved the lasagna - that was my favorite dish by far. Also the pickled carrots. I will say that the meat on the burger and in the steak was on the salty side. I thought the bacon would be thick cut on the burger but it was just regular bacon lol. The burger was still fantastic. My friend enjoyed the steak but i thought it was too chewy and also only somehow got medium-to-medium well pieces even though she was eating medium rare. The last thing I'll say is that the music was turned up quite loud so it's a bit hard to hear conversation.

Rolo's is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the five boroughs. The food and service are incredible. The french toast and burger are our favorite brunch dishes. Recommend arriving earlier because it is worth ordering the burger before sell-out. read more
Wow this spot was on 10 for everything. We had a res and sat down at one of their tables in the main dining room and it's such a cute setup. The waitress was friendly and attentive, the staff was great with clearing plates and bringing new ones. We ordered two polenta flatbreads which were very good but swimming in oil so if that's your steeze then you'll love it. The tahini chickpeas with tahini and lemon was special and the watermelon salad was the star of the appetizers. The flavor profile was so unique and refreshing. We then ordered the burger, crispy potatoes and sweet corn + brown butter trout. Each item had such amazing flavor profiles and was seasoned exceptionally well. The sauce for the crispy potatoes was also perfect - had to take it to go! We also did have the strawberry ice cream which isn't a must order but glad we tried! Highly recommend- need to come back and try their two sheet lasagne! read more
I took a friend here since I was hearing noise about them from some IG influencers so I went and really had an amazing meal and an amazing experience. I though the restaurant was beautiful and the big open kitchen was pretty insane. I thought the vibe was great, the food was outstanding and I thought the music really worked. The restaurant is run by Gramercy Tavern alums and I couldn't be happier having this restaurant in Queens The food: Sesame & Wild Oregano Wood-Fired Polenta Bread- Oh man, this was amazing. It's like a softer, fluffier pita bread, this is a must order. I didn't try the cured meats but that should be tried with this polenta bread. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NAiW1Ju8N1PA8rgKZLApNQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Calabrian Chili Butter Wood-Fired Polenta Bread- I thought this was another winner but I felt the Calabrian chili was a bit distracting. Overall good but takes away from the amazing polenta bread. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_cLWMXW6FjcjCIsiBa4ZMQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Grilled Oyster Mushrooms with Pine Nut, Miso and Chives- This was such a smart dish, I called this dish an Umami bomb. This had the earthiness from the mushroom and the smokiness from the grill but then paired with the funk from the miso, so damn good. Wood Fire House Dry Aged Prime Ribeye with a Green Garlic Butter- The steak was the highlight, I am normally not a ribeye guy but this was outstanding. This steak basically cuts with a spoon, it was seasoned perfectly and a must order, but I do wish there was more of a crust on the steak. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=_3H6EO8pqZHMFp6VXAFp3g&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Grilled Salt & Pepper Head On Shrimp- This packed so much flavor, the head fat was superb but sadly they were slightly overcooked. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=73R9CVdNH6d8Ms8gCt42Pw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Pork T-Bone Charred Scallions, Aji Verde- The waitress said these would come out medium with a slight pink in the middle as a fyi so people don't freak out. People you can eat pork medium it's been like this for years. The pork was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. It was nice and juicy on the inside and had a nice crusty exterior. The first night I went they were out of most of their beef dishes but would gladly order this dish again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5vfXJeZ1evVIrVc6JNLdHw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Bacon Double Cheeseburger Grilled Onions, Dijonnaise, Pickled Long Hot- The double cheeseburger with bacon was good and I liked the toasted brioche bun but it comes off really greasy. Overall, the burger is good but didn't really notice the burger patty, all I could taste was the brioche and the bacon. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=XrpL4duFW6LGCpPRfnVisw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Two Sheet Lasagna Verde Bolognese- I am not sure I would classify this as a "lasagna" per se, but it was so pretty looking. I liked this dish but I wasn't a fan of how skimpy the filling was because when you eat the edges, they were basically plain pasta sheets. Crispy Potatoes "War Style'- I thought the potatoes came off a bit plain. The sauces were mayo and next to it was some Thai chili, peanut butter, sambal with Kaffir lime, it was really unique to have it with fried potatoes but not sure this flavor profile worked for me. read more
The burger and "war-style" potatoes here are genuinely top-tier. I would put the burger here above Au Cheval's and would seriously consider coming back out here to Ridgewood for it. The "war-style" spicy sesame sauce was a novel unexpected flavor bomb that we liked so much we ordered a second portion. Our group was divided on the polenta breads - they were flavorful with nice puffy texture out of the oven but nothing spectacular. The famous green lasagna was also tasty but the filling was unevenly distributed, so one of my friends got a piece with almost no cheese or filling in it. Rigatoni was decent but not especially memorable. The dessert list is quietly impressive - had a rhubarb tart that was a delightful surprise. read more

Rolo's is a Ridgewood staple that always lives up to the hype. My best friend and I come here semi-regularly because the food is simply to die for! The staff is always very fast and typically have very helpful input for what to order. It's a cozy interior (although I do miss the outdoor seating) and we love the open kitchen design. The Last Word Sour is an absolute MUST try (this restaurant turned me on to Chartreuse and I cannot get enough), and the wagyu steak with garlic butter is by far one of the best, juiciest and most flavorful steaks out there. This place is a MUST try in Ridgewood! read more
Finally got a chance to try this neighborhood favorite in Queens. Fare is mainly American Italian with the stand outs being their steaks, lasagna and anything else they cook using the grill. They use a real wood burning grill which adds a smoky flavor to their dishes. Our bread was a little too burnt for my tastes but flavor was good. Ambiance for a Tuesday night was loud and almost every table was full. I would recommend getting a reservation to eat here as it has recently grew in popularity. Reservations fill quickly so book ahead to avoid long waits. We had a reservation and were seating immediately when we arrived. 2 sheet lasagna was a stand out with the top being slightly crisped using their wood fired grill. The Wyagu skirt steak was cooked well and had plenty of flavor. The green sauce on top added to the flavor but the meat alone was flavorful enough for me. The steak had a char flavor which added to the taste well. Our server was friendly and explained the menu to us. Food did take a little long to come out but besides the wait I would recommend stopping by this place. It is a great date night destination or somewhere to bring someone who likes Italian food or steaks in general. read more

The restaurant reminds me of a diner because of how you can visibly see the chefs cooking. I still loved how peaceful it was and how attentive the staff was too. The window on the ceiling also contributed to the relaxing nature of the restaurant! We went for brunch and the burger was heavenly. I loved how it was juicy, meaty, smoky and it paired well with the chili pepper. I loved how fluffy and creamy the eggs were and it was so delicious with the polenta bread. The golden beets was a little different from what I like because the combination of aged Gouda and orange vinaigrette wasn't up my alley. Otherwise amazing and the food is phenomenal! read more

Food. Impeccable. Vibes. Impeccable. Service. Impeccable. We started with the polenta bread which was alright. Nothing too special, just bread. I had the lasagna which was soooo good. You probably don't have to share if you're hungry (wouldn't want to share anyways) read more

TLDR: If you haven't stopped by to Rolo's and you like food - you need to fix that. Came for brunch and yes - the burger is worth it. Loved the polenta bread, the tuna carpaccio, the tahini chick peas, the crispy potatoes. That burger though - 100%. Originally I tried to come another time but that was a burger-centric trip. I reached out and someone from the team let me know that more than likely they'd be sold out of it by then. They said it's a small part of what they do but if that's what I was looking for, it would be better to come earlier. I listened and did come earlier to see what else was going on at Rolo's. Thank you Ben. If you want to get a glimpse of what's going on here, watch the Eater video about these Gramercy Tavern alums. The cooking here revolves around a wood-fire grill and that stuff creates magic. We started with the sesame & wild oregano polenta bread, tuna carpaccio and tahini chickpeas. This bread they make is phenomenal. It's soft, it's charred, fluffy and so full of flavor. It's a wonderful blank canvas and they use it as such with a lot of different preparations. Tuna carpaccio was thin but a more rustic slice and I kind of dig that. Not paper-thin but thin enough. The coarse grind on the black pepper gave it this nice crunch in between the layers, lemon zest for some brightness and salt because that's what makes things good. The tahini chickpeas were basically a deconstructed hummus. The chickpeas are whole, nice texture, creamy, garlicky, tons of sesame - I really enjoyed this with the polenta bread. The burger. This is two patties of 75/25 lean/fat pre-smashed goodness. The high-heat from the wood-fire oven just makes this thing oozing of burger juice. The cheese is lovely, the almost smoky like onions are super deep. My only mistake is not getting that coppa bacon, I tried it after but it's okay - that's why you can always visit again. Mrs. Crispy. I probably should have ate this first because that burger is just some powerful stuff. This was kind of like a breakfast pizza or an Italian croque madame. Cheesy, runny yolks, crispy bacon and a delicious polenta bread to put it all together. Crispy Potatoes "War Style". Double-fried for sure, super crispy potato wedges. I have not figured out exactly what the War Style is but it's some sort of aioli, raw onion and what was described as "spicy peanut sauce". I've had my fair share of Asian stuff so when I tasted it I realized - these mofos put Satay sauce on some fries. How has this not been thought of before? Definitely not for the faint of heart but very tasty. Rolo's for brunch set the tone - this was going to be a good food weekend and it was. My only regret is I don't live closer to Ridgewood. I'd probably be in big trouble if I did. read more
Great music. Candle lit table. Friendly people from front of house, to bar, to waitress and the woman who brought water to the table and cleared dishes. It was sad that they were out of the burger, the reason we came, but it looked so great we wanted to stay, and so we spent much more than intended but it was a great meal. We were there for the last day of the Valentine's Day menu, and our food was pretty fantastic. The salad was greens with chèvre and a light vinaigrette, that was a bit over salted, but great still. The mushrooms had this amazing spicy peanut sauce. The spicy margarita had a burnt pineapple that was phenomenal! The entrees were: A) a duck that was steak like, with lentils, and the flavor of the meat was fantastic! B) Filet Mignon with a wonderful peppercorn sauce and C) the standout...the chicken in a butter & herb sauce. We got the fries with sauce on the side which I recommend doing...the fries were great, and I loved the sauce but my daughter felt it was weird... Had to order bread to soak up the leftover sauce, and then got the almond tart for dessert and a cappuccino because it looked so good and it was! Highly recommend. and its rare that we get dessert, but the read more
Wow! What an absolute gem. I was so impressed with Rolos. Simple and delicious food executed really well. First things first, what a beautiful restaurant! A dim and sexy atmosphere perfect for date night. Came in on a packed Monday night with a reservation. Expected, but sad to hear their burger was all sold out. Cocktails were delicious and the food was perfect. Will definitely be back again, and again to try the rest of the menu. On top of everything, the staff was so sweet. Bravo! read more
Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Showed up an hour early and they were still able to seat us which was great. We ordered the- - Double burger with bacon. The beef patty itself was too soft and I would have preferred more bite. It was tasty but the texture was all a little bit soft. The pickled pepper went well with the flavors. - the classic Bloody Mary was great - the war potatoes were super crunchy and good but needed more onions. The peanut sauce is very Thai like. - the "wagyu" steak did not seem like wagyu as it was very lean and a bit dry. Also the chimichuri was a little bland read more

I'm so obsessed with Rolo's that I decided to move the parameters of my apartment hunt out to Ridgewood. That is how much of a gem this place is. My go to meal when I'm super hungry is the green salad, an order of bread, and the shrimp. OMG THE SHRIMP! The service is amazing; friendly but also efficient. Everyone seems to have been working there forever and knows wtf they're doing! Lots of interesting wines, the vibe is intimate but doesn't feel overly crowded, and the hosts genuinely seem to care about getting everyone seated; they've made it happen for me on many nights where i figured I had no chance at getting a table. Love Rolo's and shout out to the staff xxx read more
This spot was recommended for their Burger which they only make so many of daily. Saturday around 5:30 and they were busy. Seating at the Bar sounded good as there was no wait. Started with a Forever Ever IPA (Other Half-Brooklyn). Lower ABV and medium bodied-I liked it. Couple next to me ordered the Burger and the guy on the other side ordered the House-made Mortadella which he said was excellent. Ordered my Burger with Bacon and a side of the War fries. I saw the couple next to me get their Burger and thought mine should be coming out soon. Unfortunately, it took some time. The kind Bartender checked on my order and assured me it was coming out in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later the Burger finally arrived. Must have been a mix up with my order. The Burger (Smash Double Patty) came out medium which was pleasantly surprising as I've never seen this before for Smash. It's just the right size with Pattie's that were more on the thicker side. Bacon was delicious and what makes this Burger special is the wood fire which gives the house blend beef the smoky flavor. Definitely worth the wait! Pickled Long Hot was tasty. Crispy potatoes (war style) were very good. Liked the Kewpie mayo more than peanut sauce. My Bartender was attentive and took care of me, proactively checking on my order given the delay. At 6:30, I overheard her tell another customer that they were out of the Double Cheeseburger for the evening. (They opened at 5). So "limited availability" is no joke. Another popular item is the Lasagna Verde-next time. Solid neighborhood spot with an upbeat, loud atmosphere. The Burger is definitely one of the best I've had in NYC. read more

First off, the bread at Rolo's is *crack*--airy, puffy, soft, and warm. I can't even describe it! Ironically, I came here on National Cheeseburger Day (9/18) without knowing later that night. The burger? Only served medium rare or cooked. I went for medium rare, and it was perfectly juicy, not bloody at all thanks to the thin patties. Cooked would've been too crispy for sure. Also they make a limited amount so please be sure to make that reservation for an earlier time. The pasta was creamy with a hint of sweetness, and the daiquiri? Strong and sweet--just how I like it. But the standout? The spiked carrot drink! It's a grown-up twist on carrot juice with chili-infused mezcal, cinnamon, bitters, and lemon. read more

This might be too soon to say, but this restaurant has absolutely made it onto my 12 best of the year. Everything from the atmosphere, service and food was top tier. An absolute must is the 2 sheet lasagna. It is rich but not heavy. Tender, creamy, cozy filling with some wood-fired crispy bits to add some texture to this unique dish. I also loved the Calabrian chili butter polenta bread. Chewy, rippable and full of flavor, so good you can just eat it plain, though I did use this as a scooping vessel for the lasagna. Both also reheat surprisingly well if you decide to take left-overs. I sprung for the Hamachi crudo as a last minute decision before (I assume) it leaves their summer menu. It was so light, refreshing and so incredibly fresh. Probably the best hamachi crudo I've ever had. The caramelized banana ice cream was also delightful and the perfect few bites to round out the meal. I also got their pickled carrots, which were good and had a nice crunch but are not a need-to-get item. Definitely planning on coming back to try and snag the burger and cocktails. read more
I was visiting NYC and stayed in Manhattan. It takes roughly 45 minutes to get here. Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. The service and ambiance is nice, but as a tourist, it wasn't worth the trip. All the dishes look nice and were well cooked, but everything was so salty! We were so excited to try this place because the owners are Gramercy Tavern alum, but unfortunately we were disappointed. I'm hoping it was an off day for them? Burger: The ingredients seem very high quality and the cook on the meat was perfect. Buns were seared. Bacon was nicely cooked too. The overall burger wasn't too oily and didn't drip too much. Clearly a gourmet burger. The problem was too much salt! If they dialed the salt back a notch or two, this would've been an excellent burger. You can always add more salt, but can't take it back. Au Cheval and Shake Shack have much better burgers and they have Manhattan locations. Crispy Potatoes: Fluffy inside and crispy outside. Great texture. Same problem as the burger - way too much salt, even with dipping sauce! The aioli dipping sauce on the side was solid. Smoked Salmon: My wife ordered this and said it was so salty that it tasted like ham. Yikes. read more

This place is incredible and a must if you're in Bushwick! I went yesterday for dinner with a friend and we got immediate seating at one of the cute tables outside despite not having a reservation. The alcohol menu is actually super extensive but I would recommend their martini which has a spritz of aperol or their espresso martini. They also had a great grapefruit IPA cocktail which is amazing in the heat. For food we did the hamachi crudo, the watermelon salad, the half chicken and the radicchio salad. The chicken is something we were recommended and I would pass forward as a must get. Make sure to get a side salad with it to have a nice hot cold meal. read more
Wow. The 2 sheet lasagna stole the show but all the dishes were great! The roast chicken was particularly good, war style potatoes, cheese croquettes, polenta chili bread and asparagus lemon pasta all super solid and that might be an understatement. We came for brunch and I can't wait to go back for dinner. We shared the poached eggs, cheeseburger, French toast, and fries war style. My favorite of all was the French toast, which was more of a fluffy dessert than anything. Soft inside with a crispy outside and covered in decadent berries. So rich and filling on its own. The war style fries had a spicy and complex peanut sauce that pleasantly surprised me and mixed well with the kewpie mayo. I only had a couple bites of the burger since I was so full from everything else but it was cooked to perfection. As for the poached eggs, they reminded me of a shakshuka as the eggs were cooked right in a tomato sauce but on bread instead of a pan. That was the one dish that was a bit underwhelming for me, but everything else was outstanding enough to make up for it. They also have a good amount of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. read more
This place is so popular and for great reason! The service was absolutely amazing. I loved the decor from the mirrors to the plants and wine on the shelves. I also loved sitting right in front of the open kitchen and getting the opportunity to see their incredible team work! The food and drinks -- just WOW! Here is a quick overview of what we ordered for our weekend brunch: - Crispy French toast: Huge slice of French toast, fluffy and soft on the inside, drizzled in their sauce - 100/10 - Cheeseburger with grilled onions: a MUST TRY even if it's the only thing you order, order more than one - 1000/10 - Mrs. crispy: crowd favorite 10/10 - Wagyu steak salad: not our favorite - 8/10; we thought it was cooked well but felt a little dry despite all the sauce layered on and around it. We still thought it was flavorful but just dry and slightly chewy. - Crispy fries as a side is a MUST! - Lastly for dessert we tried both the chocolate mousse and the passion fruit crème caramel. I personally LOVED the passion fruit crème caramel. But if you're looking for a rich and thick chocolate mousse, the salted caramel chocolate mousse was a delicious runner up. If you can get your hands on a reservation, highly recommend Rolo's weekend brunch. And after you finish your meal, if you need a pick-me-up coffee or tea, I highly recommend going to Cholita across the street. read more
This is my second time here and it's even better than the first. Food drinks and service were excellent. As soon as I finished my drink, a staff member immediately showed up and asked if i needed anything else. I ordered the white negroni and tonic to start which was nice and refreshing. For food we had the fluke crudo, one of the seasonal pastas, chicken dish, and grilled pea shoots. The fluke crudo was amazing. It had cucumbers and a spicy wonton type sauce on it which was excellent. The star and my favorite of the night was the chicken dish which was surprising because I rarely go for the chicken dish at restaurants. For dessert we ordered the salted caramel mousse and the berry tart. I will definitely come back!! read more

Honestly one of the best restaurants I've eaten at! We started with the watermelon salad with pickled peppers which was a great combination. The polenta bread with stracciatella cheese was SO good, we should have ordered more. The polenta bread is a must order along with the ricotta cavatelli. The corn flavor and texture of this pasta was perfect. Most of the times it is hard to impress with pastas, but I would say all three of the pasta dishes we got from Rolo's were impressive. The branzino was was also nicely cooked but the part that made the dish interesting was the eggplant! It is a slightly upscale ambiance inside with options for outdoor seating, and our server was very kind, patient, and detailed with the specials! read more

I had tempered but hopeful feelings going into my meal at Rolo's. It was for my birthday, and I wanted a relaxed environment with elevated food. I trusted these Gramercy Tavern alums to deliver on their simple promise of stressing hospitality and cooking amazing food cooked over a wood fire and they fired on all cylinders. They change their menu often so by the time I write this review the dishes I'll mention are no longer relevant, but know that the cocktails, food, and entire experience of dining there was a true delight. One dish I tried that I still see on their menu and is a must-order are the crispy potatoes "war style," which means the wedges of crispy potatoes are smothered in some kind of cream sauce that had diced onions and a nutty flavor. They were really good! We also enjoyed a wood fire oven baked crab bread, cavatelli pasta, and croquettes. I will say though there are a couple of vegetarian items on the menu, this menu favors omnivores/carnivores, so I didn't have too much to try. That I'm still rating them 5 stars speaks to how good whatever I tried really was. On top of all the tasty bites were the phenomenal desserts. I had a slice of their chocolate cake with whipped cream, and an affogato. They make their ice cream in-house so I couldn't leave without trying some. Almost all options are made with tree nuts, and my dining companion has an allergy so we opted for simple vanilla with the affogato but it was really well executed. The cocktails were also well balanced and had layers of flavor. Their kitchen isn't the speediest, but if you can take your time it's worth while having a meal here with Michelin trained chefs and without the Michelin restaurant prices. read more
I've been here twice for dinner, twice for brunch and once when they were open for lunch. Unfortunately lunch was my favorite but they no long make sandwiches. First time for dinner we made the mistake of getting the War fries. They were so pungent they overpowered everything else I ate. I shared the two sheet lasagna and the pork chop, either both were very bland or I just couldn't taste it properly. The service was also very slow and they gave us someone else's dish twice. The steak looked good I should have taken a bite before I sent it back, hahaha. Second time for dinner we wanted to try the burger. BTW get there before 6:30 if you want the burger. It was pretty good, it had nice flavors. We've tried 2 of the 3 wood-fired polenta breads and they are always delicious. We also enjoyed the cheesy potato croquettes. They have some very very good dishes, just nothing that was blew my mind. read more

7pm reservations on a Friday night, absolutely recommend. The location is in the middle of a block, with family homes giving the restaurant a true family style dining as they mention when you sit down. Our server was great, he was funny, patient and made a great desert recommendation. We started with the bread, had the salt and pepper shrimp, 2 layer lasagna, snd shared the 26oz steak. Omg, everything was delicious. Not even sure which meal was the favorite. Would definitely suggest going. Was stuffed beyond belief. The drinks were great too. Usually I'm quick to snap a photo but was too full to remember lol. read more
