Love this diner. Always wanted to go and finally did. The service is so fast and sweet ladies taking care of your order and filing up your coffee cup even at 2/3 full. On top of this great prices. All rolled in makes this a great diner. I was told by my techs that it gets pretty busy with lines on weekend. I was lucky this Saturday morning being there at 730 am with no line. Breakfast for $5 and under with coffee. Count me in . It your basics 2 eggs, toast, home fries and coffee. Next time I will definitely try other offerings. Stopped by here after checking two other places that were both closed. A true local diner. It's a good sized place and clean. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating. Lots of selections. Unfortunately, I went with one of the specials which was lobster roll. It was very disappointing, but it came with a cup of clam chowder and that was great! Came here on a Sunday morning and it was definitely busy. Nice to see a mom and pop diner that was packed. However, that was one of the downfalls. There is no organized seating or plan. First come, first serve, seat yourself anywhere. This leads to small groups taking larger tables and larger groups having to wait. Definitely a bummer, so be sure to get here early to eat. Anything after 9am and you'll be waiting for awhile. Staff was great and nice. They were as accommodating as they could with the crowd and lack of organization. Food was decent as well. Good breakfast foods of your standard fare (pancakes, waffles, bacon and eggs, etc.) I had the Big Bacon Skillet and it was delicious. I want to go back to try their homemade desserts and crepes. Exactly what I've come to expect in diner food. There are some good ol' French Canadian recipes, as well as most breakfast mainstays. I often customize my order to suit my personal tastes and am never disappointed. This locale has been a longtime favorite of mine for getting together over coffee and eggs with friends, to surprising my sons (more specifically getting me out of cooking) on Sunday mornings. The food is delicious and the service, spot-on. The ambiance is sometimes over-the-top, but entertaining nonetheless. I highly recommend any one of their breakfast skillet offerings, and if you want a real treat, Memere's Crepes are phenomenal. They serve lunch as well, though breakfast is tempting enough to order anytime of day. French Canadian wet dream. This is the local diner we should have been coming to for years. I am highly disappointed that it has been KEPT from us for so long! My cousin's grandparents used to take her here as a baby, and since they both recently passed, she asked if we could visit Rolly's while we were home, in their honor. And now all I want to do is go to Rolly's every day and drink coffee and get to know the locals. This place has both French Canadian specialties - crepes AND cretons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cretons). Crepes is regional/cultural but to be able to buy cretons in a diner is incredibly unusual, and VERY locally/culturally specific. I almost fell off my chair. Since I obviously needed to appease my grease-loving heritage, I opted for the corned beef hash (totally, following tradition, from a can, ftw!), eggs, toast and coffee special - I couldn't justify a double bypass surgery and order the cretons on top of it. BUT I just had to try the brown sugar crepes. Holy good god, it's everything good (and oh so bad) about my heritage on plate. Delicious. My mom was worried that there wouldn't be any seats - apparently Rolly's is very popular in the sketchier parts of New Auburn/downtown Lewiston (no one said French Canadians are classy), but apparently we came at a good time, because there were plenty of colorful locals in Rolly's but also plenty of available seats. My dream is to sit at the diner counter and talk smack, in a bad Lewiston accent, with the locals. I'm not kidding. The service here is okay. I think my loud family might have traumatized our server so I'm going to giver her the benefit of the doubt and say sorry that my family is so crazy. I'd love to come back just me and my cousin - I promise that while we're not demure, we're *more* demure. Went on Valentine Day morning. Should have visited this place years ago, but it is too far away. Seated ourselves and waited ~10 minutes before anyone noticed us. Food was great, could not eat it all. They had real pan fried potatoes, something that seems rare to find anywhere. I think the world biggest Patriots fan waited on us. I've always wanted to visit Rolly's during my time at Bates. Luckily I had the chance while visiting, and I am quite happy I did. The staff is so friendly, willing to answer any questions you may have. It's first come first serve where you may seat yourself. I'd imagine it can get pretty busy at times. The portions are huge for the cost. I'd say that the RS lie of the food is so incredible. I tried the biscuits with sausage and gravy-- it was soooo good. Our waitress got my meal wrong. All I ordered was a piece of fruit, a muffin (which turned out very yummy), and cottage cheese. She did fix it. We also waited for over twenty minutes after we were totally done eating, for the bill. We finally had to go up to the cash register and ask for it so we could leave. Fantastic little diner with a charming old town atmosphere. I've eaten here lots of times, it's open early, and generally packed with elderly locals who clearly know where the good stuff is. It's not a big place, and feels old fashioned in all the good ways. Often times the interior is decorated for the season; halloween brings paper bats to the ceiling, easter heralds the plethora of plastic easter bobble heads in the window sills, that sort of thing. Wait staff is always friendly, quick to get your order through, and the portions are generally massive enough to fill the most hungry bellies. (coffee is delicious) Daily Specials are on a white board near the front, always something good and it comes with coffee. Crepes are HUGE and they will never skimp on the whipped cream. Omelettes are filling. The gravy for SOS and pretty darn delicious too, really sticks to the ribs and will leave you waddling out the door with a full belly and ready for a food coma when you get home. Can't say enough good things about the seasonal harvest hashbrowns made with carrots and such in the fall. Probably the most delicious potato type pancake thing I've ever eaten in my life. read more
