Came here for breakfast today with my mom, and while the food was fine, the service really wasn't. I'm putting no blame on our server--there were a lot of people when we came in, and it looked like he was serving ALL of them himself. He was very nice, as well as apologetic when they ran out of something I'd ordered, but whoever's in charge of scheduling and hiring should really try to make sure their servers don't get overwhelmed, because I don't really love waiting 30 minutes to get my drink just because the server can barely keep up. Seems like a nice place for brunch, but does mot seem friendly to workers. The location is incredible, with probably one of the best views in traverse city. I stopped in to work on my laptop for 20-30 minutes and I think it's safe to say this is not a cafe that welcomes workers. By the time I sat down and got some coffee my skin was crawling from the sideways looks and flat tone the waitress was giving me while eyeing my bag. When we walked in we were greeted by not just one employee, but two employees. This is what makes people come back! The hospitality and kind staff made the visit so nice. The food was OUTSTANDING. Fresh ingredients and quality ingredients. The pricing is very reasonable but the only thing I didn't totally agree with, a small cup of soup or $5.95. I thought that was pretty steep considering you only get a few bites out of it! Overall, the sandwich was incredible! The quesadilla was also good and the salsa.. whew! So dang good. We came for breakfast. My husband and I shared the Cedar burrito and my friend had the Holland (made with egg whites). Both were delicious. Their food is great. No doubt. However, if you're looking for a place to call an order into and have quick turn around - this is not it. My husband and I have been trying to call for 25 minutes straight (no, we are not able to go there to order and wait today... both working with a child at home). Phone is busy and it's impossible to get through. Since the pandemic, so many businesses have figured out systems to call in orders and/or order online. We had a party of 10, and 5 other tables of 2 and a table of 4 came in well after we did and were finished eating before we even got our food. Over an hour to serve basic breakfast dishes. This place is so weird, I heard great things about it so I'm really shocked at the low quality. It wasn't busy but it took an hour and forty minutes to receive our food? We were two people who ordered a breakfast burrito and French toast. I have no idea why it took so long. I'm a vegetarian and after waiting over an hour and a half for a vegetarian breakfast burrito, it was made incorrectly and had meat in it. No refund, just an apology. Sort of off the beaten path, located in Copper Ridge, across from West Jr. High on Silver Lake Rd. The view is panoramic, very cool. Open for breakfast and lunch. The "Breakfast Skillet" is amazing! Potatoes, scrambled eggs, cheese and the very best homemade salsa I have had in northern Michigan as of this morning. My aunt in Texas makes something very similar, using a blender to make a salsa "sauce,' for lack of a better word. Tomatoes, onions, cilantro and peppers give it a nice "bite," which is hard to find up here. They offer a variety of both hot and cold sandwiches. The sandwiches I've had were excellent, very fresh and flavorful. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. Designer coffees and teas served as well. And they have the biggest rice crispy treats, big enough to share with three other people! read more

I found this place while in town for a couple months, it was close to my workplace and had good reviews on yelp. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! Their soup and sandwich combo is great; they have different soups pretty much everyday and their turkey sandwich is refreshing with the cucumber. I've been coming here for lunch pretty much everyday I've been in town for work; I love that the bread is local, coming from a person who detests "healthy" bread, their 9 grain bread is delicious. They also have rye bread, which is rare for a restaurant. They can get a little swamped at lunchtime, but the waitresses have always been super nice. Great local spot to visit! read more

Very good find! We went here today for lunch while working in town. Everything was fresh and delicious and you can tell that it was homemade and prepared with love. I had the corn chowder, turkey sandwich on croissant, chocolate chip cookie, and raspberry lemonade...all delish! My one complaint is that service was slow. We were almost 30 minutes late getting back to work, waiting on our credit cards to be returned after paying. However, everyone was really nice and the owner took time to chat with us. My dad wanted to take me to a new place I had not been to in town where we would have a nice view and be able to talk with good food and coffee. The sweeping sunny morning view of Traverse City mad for a great atmosphere and the Carmel latte to warm me off was great. Shamefully I was "one of those customers" and asked for a more custom burrito than what was offered on their menu and I was pleasantly surprised the waitress was super friendly and accommodating with it helping me to achieve a more Hispanic style burrito just to my liking. Came in for lunch today. Restaurant was not full. It took 50 minutes to receive a salad for lunch. Waitress never came to ask for drink refills or update us on our food. Waitress brought our food and apologized for the long wait. We asked if we could have silverware and the check since we needed to leave. Waitress never came back. Had to go inside to ask for silverware and a check. Waitress apologized again. Also, it appeared that there was an elementary school age kid bussing tables in the restaurant. Salsa is of the poorest quality poured from some jar, pre scrambled egg's poured from a carton then microwaved. Blueberry muffins delivered from some grocery distributor. Bacon, pre cooked heaped in a warming bin. Top this all off with some processed cheese food. There is very little actual cooking. Rather much of the food is assembled from processed ingredients. Cute little cafe, but it is very expensive and difficult to find. If you order an omelette, all you get is the omelette and toast for $6.95 - they don't have English muffins either. The only toast options are sour dough & multi-grain bread. By the way, potatoes or hash browns are NOT included with you omelette - that's extra. It really isn't a place to take kids either. There is no kid's menu, and everything is a la carte - an extra charge. Sounds like it's primarily a lunch place that makes a weak effort at breakfast. Table service not extremely fast, but you should slow down too, it is better for your blood pressure (I am just saying). I ordered a sandwich and some potato chips, Mrs Vickies-bbq. There would be bonus points if the chips were the Great Lakes ones, but Mrs. Vickies are good too. The sandwich was veggie, it's name was 'Bellaire.' It had sprouts, onions, cheese, lettuce, generally all happy things. I liked the 9 grain bread too. This restaurant has a lovely view. You can also get a picnic lunch for two to go, 25.00, plus the price of renting the basket, like 5 dollars. They have shakes too, and desserts, but I didn't go for it this time. Great view of the Traverse City area from up here. This cafe serves up some nice sandwiches, salads, and soup. I've dined here three times and I've been very well satisfied with all of my meals. The sandwich board is pretty great - my favorite is the "Napoleon Picnic". It's served up on a warm and toasty croissant which is a nice touch for a sandwich. All the makings that go into their food seem pretty top notch and they pack a lot of flavor. The service is good, too. I'd steer you away from ordering "the works" on all of their sandwiches. Usually, it's a safe bet and a tasty combination, but I found it a little overpowering combination of flavors with the tuna sandwich. Beverage selection is pretty solid and they have good lemonade, tea, and frozen yogurt for dessert or shakes. With all that, I would have given this place four stars for the quality of the food, which is still very good, but they earned a five star rating for two reasons: (1) They delivery to most places in town between 10 am - 3 pm which is awesome if you need to grab a tasty bite at work but can't get away. (2) They will put together a picnic basket - including the actual basket - containing two sandwiches, two salads, two bags of chips, two cookies, and two canned drinks for $21.90 (as of 06/17/2010). That's a pretty sick deal and its awesome for taking to the beach or going out for a hike. The only catch is that you have to return the basket by the next day or lose a $40 deposit, but they seem like they might be flexible on this if you asked nicely. Bottom line: Good food, good drink, awesome view, cool concept. Highly recommend. read more
