Was up in TC for work and got recommend to stop here for a sandwich. I was very impressed! The space is small and it's connected to a wine bar and shop but the food was delicious. You see lots of locals and the staff knows everyone by name which I love to see! I got a turkey sandwich with a LOT of turkey. Even tho I heard some construction guys talk about how sandwiches use to be 6 dollars back when they were in HS I thought the prices were fair for 2026. For 11 bucks and some change, I'd say it was worth the money! Next time I'm up north for work I will return for lunch! read more

I was originally heading to Jersey Mike's for a go-to sandwich, but spotted The Chef's In and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. I had the Turkey & Swiss, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Fresh ingredients, flavorful, and the sauces they use really take it up a notch. It was a bit crowded and there was a wait, but the small-town vibe and quality made it worth it. Prices are a little on the higher side for the portion size, but the flavor and experience made up for it. Very happy I stopped in. If you're looking for a quick and easy bite look no further. While leaving a weekend getaway in TC we didn't want anything fancy or long of a wait. The deli is attached to a grocery store, you circle the sandwich you want. Options of both hot & cold, make your own. I had the turkey and cheddar and it was excellent. Hot, the bun is soft, cheese melts and topped with lettuce, tomato & Mayo. Prices were really reasonable. There were a few tables inside, but I think it's a little more suited for take out. Location is just on the edge of town with parking. read more

Surprisingly good spot in TC that's definitely popular with the locals but not yet discovered by the tourists. Solid sandwiches, where you customize your order on a sheet of paper before handing it over to be prepared. Solid ingredients. Enjoyed it very much. read more

This has been my favorite sandwich place since high school. I almost always get the same sammy: the turkey sandpiper. The bread is beyond good and the turkey, cheese and coleslaw are perfection. I'm also a fan of the veggie sandwich and their hamburgers done on the flat top grill are also so yummy. They have great soup, too. If they are serving the sweet pepper crab; do yourself a favor and order it! read more

Most reviews online are great! We drove 30 minures based on the menu and pictures of the salad bar! Unfortunately upon arrival, there was no salad bar! The woman behind the grill asked if she could help us, I told her we were very disappointed as we drove there for the salad bar.... "Her response, not on the weeekend", with an attitude included! Cheap, fast, and easy. This is a small local business. Note: it is not part of Burritt's market. I came here and thought it would have stuff from them, that it would be really high quality and expensive. It is actually all pretty simple food. My father in law will say they do not serve Reubens because it is not on Jewish rye. I think that would have made it much better also. read more

IMO, this is just another deli that happened to serve some hot sandwiches as well. You place your order by circling what you want on the ordering notepad and you hand it to the "chef". I had a turkey Parmesan sandwich. It's turkey, tomato, lettuce and Parmesan dressing. It was good and made me full and it was only $5.50. Not bad. We originally chose Chef's In because of its outdoor seating, there turned out to be 2 small tables outside, but I guess that still counts. Your view is the strip mall parking lot. Yay! This may be a better place for you if you like cold deli sandwiches, but since I'm more of a hot food person, if I were ever to go back, I supposed I'll try the grilled cheese with turkey instead. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot in Traverse City. I like the fresh salad bar, and that you order your sandwich by checking off items on a paper menu card. You can order hot or cold sandwiches. DELISH!! The hubs enjoyed TWO cheeseburgers and I had the turkey rueben! He loved his cheeseburger so much, he literally went back and ordered a second. Best way to a man's heart?? Cheff's Inn is a favorite of my wife and I's because of one treat. Hot-Ham-n-Swiss sandwich. O so good. Fresh home made sandwich bread. Grilled ham and melted cheese. Add a cherry coke and your good to go. Now other than that, everything sucks! The staff is usually pretty moody, although they have started to become a bit more personable. There is no refills on fountain drinks. Ugh. Come on meow! I know how much fountain syrup costs, your not going to go out of business giving me an extra shot of Cherry Coke. Nothing else on the menu is really that appetizing, so we never stop in unless we have a craving. The parking is probably the worst part of it all. They share a parking lot with several other great local businesses, and you have to fight to find a spot. If you want hot ham and swiss and your down town, stop by. If not, keep going. read more

Great option for the quality and cost. Fresh and made to order. Ladies at the cash register are very friendly... Nice for someone out of town. I would definitely recommend versus the chain drive through if you're into quality. Small seating area but this is not towards the two hour lunch. Just great food and hosts. read more

The sandwiches are amazing. Well made flavorful. The service leaves a bit to be desired. It actually says on their website, "save time, call ahead". Well, I did, they said 12:30 my order will be ready. I arrived at 12:28 waited for another 20 minutes and finally received my order. There went my 30 minute lunch break. They need a better system for the volume of business they do. Again, sandwiches are incredible just need to work on the delivery and I would give 5 stars. Eating my lunch driving back to work was not cool. read more

Stopped in for a bite after hitting up a few of the wineries on the peninsula. I split a cheeseburger and a ham sandwich with a friend. They were both absolutely delicious! I loved all the options available for the sandwiches. I also tried the potato and beef soup, and it was also great. The service was nice and friendly, and had some good suggestions for shopping afterwards. My only real complaint is in the value department - it's expensive for what you get ($6+ for sandwiches, not including a drink or any sides). read more

A truly great sandwich place. They have some hot sandwiches or you can create your own cold sandwich, which comes on delicious, fresh bread. Prices are reasonable and there's a good selection of chips and fountain soda to choose from. I've been in several times and service is always friendly and quick, and I'll always keep going back whenever I get a craving for a good sandwich. read more

I've been coming here since the 90s and I still look forward to ordering about once a week. I usually get the vegetarian with turkey or the cheeseburger. Best sandwiches in TC. First time I took my Son her he had the rueben and said it was the best one he'd ever eaten. I always get the chicken sandwich and its amazing everytime. Reasonable price. That sandwich maker can crank them out very quickly. Jimmy John's claims to be freaky fast, but this girl is faster! Only four stars because you should allow the build your own as a hot sandwich option, even if you charge more people will still go for it. Love the place! read more
