I door dashed myself a turkey club because I was starving. This was literally the best turkey club I have ever had! The turkey was thick cuts of over roasted turkey. Not lunch meat. It was so juicy. Thank goodness I found this place so I could grab a salad. I'd been craving something green since the start of my trip in Michigan. Is the food salty to anyone else? Anyway, I came at the end of exploring and a long day. I enjoyed seeing the fresh options and how I could have a salad created. They also had a lot of grab-and-go foods. My salad was pretty good and was straight forward. I thought it was almost a full win, but my spouse got a salad and a small cup of soup. Salad great. Soup, not so much. Again with the salt! Seriously so gross and bad experience from start to finish. Placed an order via DoorDash for pickup in between meetings; scheduled it for between 12:00-12:20PM and have the receipt. Got a text at 12:10 stating my simple sandwich was ready and arrived to pick it up. Wasn't ready right off the bat. Woman tried to distract me with soda and chips while they rushed to make my order. While waiting, I watched a young man shoveling pieces of the food he was using to make pre-pared sandwiches into his mouth. Pretty gross and unbecoming. When I finally got my order, I opended it up to find it barely grilled and the bread so soggy that I couldn't even pick it up to take a bite. Fell into a sloppy pile on my lap. Honestly so gross that I called for a simple refund and the manager began to argue with me about when the order was supposed to be ready insisting it was 1:00PM, when I quite literally have the DoorDash receipt stating my selected order ahead time of 12:10PM. Worth the quick drive south of the busy touristy part of Traverse City to find this place. Had the most delicious Florentine breakfast sandwich! Ham, Swiss, egg, spinach on homemade multigrain bread. Simply wonderful! My family enjoyed their Cowboy breakfast sandwiches which were egg, cheddar, choice of meat on yummy homemade biscuits. Also very flavorful (the butter in the biscuits will make you smile!). We ordered ahead on the phone and they had our order ready when we arrived. Ive never been inside The Kitchen so I can't speak on the ambiance, only have ordered for pick up & delivery. We order a 3-5 times a month at least and it's consistently on point. From the salads and wraps to meatloaf and amazing breakfast burritos you can't go wrong. I highly recommend their meatloaf and stuffing, it's fantastic and hits the spot when you're in need of a home cooked style meal. Sadly this place has gone downhill dramatically. The service wait is awful, waiting for employees that are talking rudely to each other and using profanity. There is an extremely long wait for hot food or it's because they simply don't relay that an order has been placed and there's four people standing around not doing anything while you have an order in. Also I don't appreciate having to listen to vulagarity on the very loud music station that they are listening to. I simply mentioned to the cashier that they have a new style of music that they're listening to and she said yes we do with full contention in her voice. Came in for the first time today. I ordered a cuban sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. All of the food was very fresh. For someone with frequent spouts of heartburn this was very easy on the stomach. I walked in and everyone smiled as I was greeted at the door. The place was quiet and easy to stand inside and wait for my food. Then the carrot cake caught my eye. Not only did it look delicious, but the taste was even better. Drove past this restaurant multiple times and decided to try it out tonight. We got a simple order of bowl of chicken noodle soup, 1/2 ham sandwich and another cup of chicken noodle soup and a Mac n cheese. After driving 20 minutes from my house I got there and drove all the way home hoping for a good simple dinner, boy was I wrong. They forgot my wife's soup and when I called they apologized and sent a driver out with her order which was nice but that didn't help the quality of food. My bowl of chicken noodle soup had about 10 noodles total with not one piece of chicken, so for $5 I was served chicken broth in my opinion. Also they said they were out of ham so we got a turkey sandwich instead. So I gave a 2 star for them handling the mistake and delivering but only 2 because the food was terrible. First of all, everybody at the office thought the food was delicious; obviously freshly prepared with quality ingredients and very fair proportions. There was one small hiccup in our order. Ashley went out of her way, above and beyond, to fix the issue and take care of us!! I am absolutely sure we will order from there again. The staff was bright and friendly. I just moved up to TC from the Detroit area... it was a long couple days getting settled in, and this place had our back. They provided us with some delicious breakfast and lunch... which was much appreciated as I didn't have any food in my fridge yet! The food is fresh, ready quickly, and totally reasonably priced. The breakfast tacos were probably my favorite... so VERY tasty and plenty filling to have only one (meaning you only have to spend about $3 on your breakfast). I'm glad that I'm only a couple blocks away... I have a feeling that I'm going to be using them again and again. They do get pretty packed, and the parking lot can fill up... but there seems to be enough street parking to accommodate. During the warmer months they have some outdoor seating so you can shove your face as soon as you get your meal. Love this place. read more

Picked up their Thanksgiving Feast for 6 today and was VERY happy with it. The sausage and sage dressing was excellent, the turkey and gravy very tastey, loved the mashed potatoes with a hint of garlic in them, green bean casserole was good, plus candied yams, rolls, and pumpkin pie! This is my favorite lunch spot! I love their gluten free options. Their service is very fast and friendly. They have grab and go premade options in the fridge, quick snacks like chips and cookies and a hot food line with soups, sandwiches and dinner options. They make great salads too and they have a different one on special everyday. I am in love with their soups. Many of them are gluten free or vegetarian. All soups come with bread. I think it's fantastic that they keep the Facebook up to date twice a day with what's on the menu. Good job guys! Thank you!! They're priced very fair too. So today I got the Mac attack, they asked me if I wanted to add bacon or avocado for 1.25,I said yes to avocado and they put 2 very very small slices... probably 1/15 of the avocado... does that mean they put 1/2 a slice of bacon on for 1.25? GUARANTEED. Yep, that's right: that's my second positive guarantee about The Kitchen. Salads are my go-to, with the Cobb hitting the sweet spot of perfectly dressed and a sweet ratio of toppings to greens. The bacon in particular gets a perfectly-toothsome shout-out from me. But, having said that salads are my go-to, well...the soups are great. Get one hot from the counter, or check out their larger pints of 'em in the refrigerator section (HINT HINT: SICK FRIENDS WILL REALLY THINK YOU'RE RAD IF YOU SHOW UP WITH A PINT OF THE GOOD STUFF). Bowls feature things like smokey chipotle sauce atop chicken for their vaguely 'Tex Mex' option, or a tender pulled pork pilled onto Mac n cheese (yep, you're reading right). I'm a total foodie and I'm proud to endorse The Kitchen as one of the best restaurants in Traverse City, which is saying something because there are a lot of good places to eat in this town. The Kitchen offers delicious food, which is all made fresh, as well as many good options to drink. One of the big things they do is sell pre-prepared food like one might find at a grocery store for take out, but all of the ready made food is fresh and delicious instead of stale and boring. I'm partial to the food that they cook for you in the store as it is even better than the cold food. Beyond offering fresh, delicious food both hot or cold, one of the biggest perks to this place is that the food is surprisingly affordable for what you get. An average meal in the downtown area of Traverse will run you about 15-20 dollars, but I can get a burrito and a drink for around $10 which definitely fills you up too. This place is way better than most chain restaurants too in terms of their quality and customer service. read more

You can pick up dips for parties, pot lucks or just a family movie night. Nice drink variety too, fountain drinks from the local "Northwoods" soda company or bottled teas and/or juices. Although they have a tall, long and thin table for eating in, it is smack in the middle of the place and not really conducive to sharing your lunch with one or more friends in the middle of all the hub bub. If they had a place to sit comfortably, I'd give them five stars. Service is usually pretty good and orders are filled quickly. A great place to grab good food to go for any meal of the day. read more
