We were looking for somewhere to have a late lunch/early dinner while driving the coast. We stopped here and were very pleased. The fish tacos were great, as was my burger. We also order the desert (berry tart) and it was excellent! The sisters who were working were pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. After spending so many hours in a car, it was nice to be able to sit, eat, and enjoy ourselves. We will stop here again. read more

Went there for lunch. Husband and I ordered jalepeno cream cheese burger, I had fries, he had clam chowder on the side. Also ordered a side of onion rings. Everything was SO good. Great portions. Fresh. A bit pricey for a cafe than what I'm used to, but worth every penny. No one really there around the 3:00 hour while we ate, so we didn't have a wait and service was good. The French fries were a Highlight; as simple as fries are, it's amazing how often I'm disappointed. Not here. Perfectly crisp and soft on the inside. Onion rings also were more beer batter style, which I always prefer and have such a hard time finding for some reason. Seems like a little hole in the wall but it was great. read more

Had a late lunch which should be great for service. Nope!! server was as bad as they came. I had to hunt her down to pay my bill as she was watering the plants outside. No table side manners or even checked on us. Food was not bad as the combination plate was a bit high for so little food. Two small pieces of fish, tiny serving of calamari, 2 small shrimps, cole slaw was just made & not mingled for flavor yet, and a ton of fries for $18.95. maybe breakfast might be better?? will have to wait and see. read more

Great food in such a random place. Lady owns it, and works it with her daughters and other peeps. The peanut butter chocolate milkshake rocked, and whatever the food was we all had was good, too. It's a good place to stop; it won't change your life, but it is a fun time. read more

This was an unexpected find. As I traveled up Highway 1 looking for a place to eat between Gualala & Mendocino I didn't come across much & if there was it was only open for dinner. But seeing it was just 11am & not having eaten the night before I was HUNGRY. Looked like grandma's house from inside & out. Just a tiny house. Looked at the menu, although large menu it almost had country plates at city prices. But surprisingly it was good food, great service, clean & friendly staff. Still family run and owned. I was staying at the Point Arena Lighthouse and was searching for breakfast. I stopped in this cafe and was pleasantly surprised. I had the biscuits and gravy with some scrambled eggs and hash browns. The homemade sausage gravy was outstanding! I suggest everybody try the gravy if you are in the Point Arena area. read more

I'm on the coast for a little vacation and decided to stop here for some breakfast. I ordered the Denver omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. The food was very tasty, the ham and pepper chunks large and fresh. The hash browns were nicely seasoned, browned with a savory center. The staff was friendly and the coffee hot and fresh. The only reason they didn't get a fifth star was because the table where I was sitting had a real fly problem, with at least 5-6 of the little buggers dive bombing me all during the meal. Perhaps it was the area where I chose to sit, in the sun near the window, but it wasn't all that fun having to play fly defense wile eating. Likely an aberration so I wouldn't let it keep you from stopping here, the food and staff are great! read more

Great breakfast. Delicious crab omelet and bacon waffle. I also had a chai latte that was excellent. They have all kinds of coffee drinks which was an unexpected bonus. There did appear to be wheelchair access as you can go around the back and use the ramp. read more

I stopped here with my husband after visiting the lighthouse up the street. We were cruising highway 1 home after spending the weekend in Mendocino. I almost wish I could ding 1/2 a star because after we ordered the food took a long time and my glass had some mini particle in my glass (it was replaced with a clean one immediately). BUT, our meal was SOOOOO good that my minor grievances. We ordered the fish sandwich (fried) and the jalapeño cream cheese burger. The food took along time, but WOW that jalapeño burger was TO DIE FOR. Nice and spicy and the cream cheese, initially I was afraid it would be too much, but it was perfect for the spiciness of the fresh sautéed jalapeños! The fish sando was good too. The fish was nice and crispy, the bun was soft, and the tartar sauce was nice and mayonnaise-y like I like (yeah, guilty, mayo lover party of 1). Also, we got sides of coleslaw (pass, it was like an asian sesame style that didn't seem to flow with the meal) and fries (really good and crispy). Wow! We were not expecting to get such great food from this tiny cafe. My husband and I ordered the prawn tacos with onion rings. So delicious! The prawns were plump and fresh. The Baka sauce was perfectly spiced with some nice heat. The onion rings were homemade, we couldn't get enough. We also had the Caesar salad, so fresh and the dressing was homemade too. My kids had the grilled ham and cheese. The ham was nice and thick, my kids loved it. It came with a fresh salad with strawberries. Our server was great too. Excellent! spicy twist on traditional coastal food. Very original taste. We ordered Angus burger (all of their beef is local farm raised and grass fed), I asked to toss in some jalapeños and it indeed came with hefty bunch of fried jalapeños - loved it! The coleslaw was super tasty. We also ordered The Whaler - Fried cod on sesame bread, classic fries, huge portion! The place was a bit cramped, but thats what adds the flavor to the experience. Yup! This is a three star place. As we were in a slight hurry, we ate here again. And why not see if we could bump our rating. But it was not to be. Again, the service folks were wonderful! Our food was okay. The toast was loaded with butter. The bacon was pretty flavorless - they need to change their source. But the eggs were prepared excellently and the hash browns were crispy on the outside. It was nothing spectacular but it took 55 minutes to get our food. The place wasn't filled and we didn't have to wait so long for our food yesterday. Sigh... Lots of potential but not making the mark for us. read more

The fish and chips were so yummy and the Eggs Benedict/Crab Benedict the next morning were also very good. Kudos to the cooks. Very tasty! The service was GREAT! We were very impressed with our server and let her know. I hope she knows how good she really is at her job. The 2nd day we ate there...all of a sudden 22 people came in at the same time and ordered a multitude of different coffees some "for here" and some "to go" with most on separate tickets. I was glad we already had our food as It created some confusion...but our server persevered, got the orders out and quickly recovered. Very impressive! read more

Great breakfast here, in a very small town. Good, attentive service. There were four of us--everyone enjoyed what they ordered including a jalapeno jack omelette and hash browns that were browned, not raw in the middle.
