NEVER AGAIN. I went for a bday dinner and was so excited ! I ordered gumbo and came without the shrimp, waitress was so dry! Never came back to check on us. Oh and if you order coke products it's in a 4oz Can and no refills, but you won't get told that. Ordered steak medium and came out drier than a Popeyes biscuit! Sent it back and then it came out looking like prime rib. At this point I'm very disappointed. The shrimp got brought out for the gumbo but by then everyone was over the whole experience. Had to keep asking bus boy for water. Spoke to manager and he did what he was suppose to and discounted our check. Took some friends from out of town to one of our favorites of Phoenix. The meal was outstanding, as usual. Our guests were amazed, said it was one of the best meals they ever had. Our server was equally amazing. It was personal, and though they were busy she made us feel like she was there just for us. You get the sense that the staff is a true team and as a former restaurant manager I know how rare this is. We ordered so much food and at the end there wasn't much left, except for the garlic appetizer. I am updating. I usually reserve 5 stars for the finest restaurants. Well, that's what this is. Moving them up from a 4. Knock them on service or whatever. (Actually always had pretty great staff experiences.) But, I would crawl across broken glass to get the enchiladas with chile sauce here. Every time my wife and I are in PHX, we go massively out of our way several times in a week to come here. This is a Rokerij/Richardson's Stan account now. I'm extremely partial to the smoked turkey with red sauce. But, I'd always tell a first-timer to branch out and make sure to try whatever meat filling appeals to you and both the green and red sauces. (Tell them you want "Christmas.") Your mileage may vary, but smoked Turkey swimming in red sauce is my desert island food/last meal on Earth. Cray good. There's something for everybody at this place. I have tried other stuff and never been anything but impressed with steaks, seafood, etc. But I'm also like, "dude, shoulda gotten them enchiladas!" after the meal. But, just go with what appeals to you. It'll be good. Btw, it's seasonal and a meal in itself but, if you have a crew and it's in season, get the roasted garlic appetizer. Amazing! Top favorite restaurant! Not only is the food exception, but the service is spectacular! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! My boyfriend and I were there for the first time and sat at the bar. We noticed a lot of locals and watched the chef in awe. The salads (house or Cesar) that come with the entree dish are not some small, teeny tiny, Romain lettuce thrown on a plate. They are huge, full of flavor, and a masterpiece! They are a full meal on their own. Both of the steak dishes we got, Prime NY steak and Rokerij Steak, were mouth watering. Hidden in a more quiet part of Phoenix this place gave my friend and I the ambiance we were looking for. There is a fireplace downstairs with two comfortable chairs to stay warm, while sipping their delicious cocktails. This is the perfect getaway spot during the week for quiet conversation, drinks, and a happy hour menu that will not disappoint. The menu can change from time to time, but everything is delicious. You are kidding, right? The Rokerij is a wonderful little gem of a restaurant and one of the few in Phoenix that serve a New Mexico style breakfast. We go several times a year for the past 18 years. I would highly recommend the Carne Adovada with eggs or the blue corn Huevos Rancheros if you are there on the weekends. Our hotel concierge said this restaurant was her local favorite and we understand why. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Thursday night around 8 pm. It was quiet and a little slow, which meant the wait staff was extra attentive. Nice! I had the enchiladas (HOT - both spice and temperature-wise, but I liked it!) and he had the gumbo with green chile linguine. There was so much food - we came hungry and couldn't come close to finishing our meals. The Rokerij is officially my new favorite brunch spot!! I seriously cannot rave enough about this place. First of all, the menu is insane! I seriously could've ordered every single item and have been in love with the dish. Absolutely everything sounded phenomenal, so to decide which 2 dishes to get was a feat, but it was a feat worth dueling for. We got the Eggs Benedict Jalapeno (with pork loin) and the Carne Adovado and Eggs. Oh. My. God. The eggs benedict were outstanding, but the carne adoovado is something out of this world from a long, slow cooked Mexican bbq - so smokey, saucy and delicious!! We were fighting over who got the last bites. And what's even better is that brunch comes with drink specials! I had the mimosa ($6) which was an incredibly generous pour (and oh so refreshing with the spicy food), and my boyfriend had a bloody mary with was spicy and delicious! Plus a big shout out for the service!! The place was packed, but our server was Luis provided us with incredibly attentive service. I really enjoy this place! Been a few times for personal and business and always order the same things! Good spot for a date or small group/business dinner. Dim lighting for sure, at least in the underground part of the bar/restaurant. If your eyes are bad, might need a phone to check the menu lol. If I'm here with friends we'll split a few appetizers which are delicious, I'm particularly a huge fan of the bacon wrapped shrimp, the chipotle ribs, and the queso spinach dip. The bacon wrapped shrimp are HUGE, the meat falls right off the bone on the chipotle ribs, and the spinach queso dip is a nice finish to the appetizers. For entrees, I really enjoy the Top Sirloin with the peppercorn whiskey lime sauce (I've gotten the teriyaki sauce before and it was good, just thought the whiskey like sauce was better) mashed potato & corn for veggies. The service was excellent by our waiter Lonny( spell check). The environment was definitely a cool experience since it's a little darker and candles all around. Good for a date night. It's our version of dinner and a show! I don't have the vocabulary to adequately describe the fabulousness of this restaurant but here goes... As of this moment, the Rokerij might be my favorite restaurant in Phoenix. Its hard to say but this is the only restaurant that I've been to more than once that I always enjoy everything I ordered, and I leave wanting to plan my next visit. I also over order so that I have just as much food to take home and enjoy the next day. It may just be my favorite restaurant of all time. On this visit we drove into the packed valet parking with no reservations and quickly handed off the car to a very efficient valet and walked in thinking we will be leaving soon to eat at plan B because this place is packed and buzzing. Keep in mind, this restaurant and its sibling are booked weeks out in advance for dinner on the weekends and we have no reservations on this Friday night. All that aside, note that our favorite type of place to dine is at a fun bar with great drinks, amazing food, a busy and social atmosphere with things to see and watch happen while socializing with other bar patrons. Well, we were in for an epic night when we stormed inside and immediately found ourselves wearing Cheshire grins while taking in the view of the beautiful copper top bar, surrounded with bustling staff, serving drinks, cooking over open fire, chattering guests, and two lottery winner's empty bar stools. Rokerij provides the quintessential bar dining experience with great wait staff who serve you great tasting cocktails made in proper fashion and presentation. We began the night with a rye old fashioned and a vodka martini. We quickly followed with a recommended appetizer of chipotle ribs that were on par with their bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. They were moist, fell off the bone and were presented on a bed of tasty rice and one huge flour tortilla neatly folded and placed to the side. We cleaned the plate before they brought our two huge plates of New Mexican Surf and Turf. Perfectly seasoned, cooked and presented on their signature metal plate. Beef tenderloin, two bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp and three flat chorizo enchiladas Christmas style! This plate is so delicious that nothing gets ignored. The beans are just as enjoyable as the beef tenderloin and the shrimp. The enchiladas are a must try for any visit. If enchiladas are not included I will always add these to anything I order for my main course. But seriously, it's hard to say what is the highlight of the meal and what is a side because the "sides" share center stage because they really are that good. Our experience couldn't have been better and we departed with our leftovers to enjoy the next day. We got lucky on this night and we know it but that aside we always leave a Richardson establishment happy and wanting more. We cannot wait til our next visit. Also note that they have a basement bar and we highly recommend trying to dine there as well. It is a similar experience but without the kitchen in front of you. Some people review this restaurant slightly negative saying it has odd presentation and sides but I don't think they realize this is New Mexican food done very well. I previously lived in Albuquerque and have enjoyed a lot of New Mexican food and this restaurant is better than any visited in New Mexico. read more

We have been to the Rokerij many times and always enjoyed it but this time was very different- the service was HORRIBLE and the food wasn't much better. It took forever to get a drink and then only 2 out of 5 drinks arrived, food took 2 hours to arrive and then only 3 out of 5 arrived. We waited for a separate plate for sharing but that was slow to come. Over easy eggs came out over hard, and pancakes on brunch menu were heavy and flavorless. We understand it was a holiday and there are staffing shortages but this was too much. We were there for 3-1/2 hours total, another table was leaving and wished us luck because they had the same poor experience and one in their party never did receive her meal. The waitress was good and i am sure the kitchen was busy. They compt one dish that was made wrong and the dish that never arrived. But no one came to apologize or make the situation right. Rokerij (pronounced ro-ker-ee) is a Richardson restaurant that might as well just be part of the Richardson restaurant. I'm still slightly confused as how they're a different restaurants when they literally have the same menu, but whatever. We made reservations for Rokerij at 7pm on Saturday. They seat us, we order, and we did not get our food until around 8:15pm, which is absolutely ridiculous. When they brought out our food, we all thought the wait was over, but it we probably waited another twenty minutes as they slowly brought our food out, one by one. They also got one of our orders wrong, which meant another ten minute wait for our food. The staff apologized repeatedly, but they simply do not have enough hands working the kitchen. If you do end up coming here, keep in mind that the food could be all over the place. Some dishes were okay, some were cold, some had burnt cheese on the side. However, the New Mexican enchiladas are pretty good and you can never go wrong with some cheesy deliciousness! read more

This place was AMAZING! We went for my birthday with some friends. It was pretty loud and dark in there so we all pulled out our phones to read the menu. We ordered the carne asada fries along with two other appetizers. The fries were out of this world and I highly recommend them! The beer cheese sauce was unique and so good. With three appetizers plus the salad our meal came with and the two soups our husbands ordered we were pretty stuffed and then came dinner... I ordered the filet with crab meat on top, the double baked potato and brussel sprouts. The steak was great the twice baked potato not so much. It was not very flavorful and tasted like they pulled out the potato whipped it up without adding much and then stuck back inside. The brussels sprouts needed to be crispier and tasted more boiled than roasted. However, since we were so stuffed we took most of our meals home and were able to grill up those brussel sprouts to be perfect! My friend ordered the special which was a huge ribeye. She said it was delicious and she got 3 meals out of it. My husband had a pasta dish as did my friends husband and they both loved it. For dessert we had the flourless cake. It was rich and delicious! We ordered prickly pear margaritas which were excellent. I don't know if its because I went in hungry but I was so buzzed after only half a drink.
