I used Rojas Tile due to the overwhelming amount of positive reviews and experience installing wood like tile as seen from other customer reviews. I got a reasonable quote from Hector and agreed to have the work done. This was a big job as I had the wood like tile installed throughout the whole house (2,364 sq ft). My wife and I had just bought the house and wanted to do some remodeling before we moved in. We remodeled the floors, kitchen, and repainted the house. I quickly realized that communication isn't Hector's strong suit. He would respond quickly, but with a response that didn't make much sense due to spelling/grammar errors and incomplete sentences. Based on the other reviews and pictures of work that was completed, I had felt that the job would have been done correctly nonetheless. During the time that work was being performed, I had to travel for work internationally for 2 weeks and I wasn't able to view the house while work was being done. Hector did send me picture updates as the installation took place, but of course didn't showcase the lack of quality in the workmanship. By the time I got home from my work trip, the painters had already covered the floors so that they could start painting to meet our move in deadline. After the painters were finished, it was obvious the issues with the tile. I reached out to Hector and it seemed like he was going to honor his work and fix the issues. Hector rescheduled many times and then eventually stopped all communications. I paid him over $12K for his labor, not including tile, and I'm very disappointed. You can't pull out a chair from the dining table without a foot getting caught on the uneven tile and you can feel the unevenness when walking around with bare feet. I've tried to clean the excess grout that is on top of tile, but have had no luck. I'm now going to need to hire another contractor to fix his issues. Overall, I would say absolutely do NOT use him. The work was sub par, the communication was terrible, he didn't do the work that was promised, and refused to fix the issues. read more

5.000 stars. Hector completed our commercial bathroom tiling job to perfection. We needed two small bathrooms tiled out, and, by far, he was the most responsive through Yelp, and later, text, and his prices were beyond fair. The quality of work is impeccable, and he and his team were seasoned pros. He knew, for example, that the sanded ground recommended by Arizona tile would not work for the Subway tile walls and, on his own, bought replacement grout (we reimbursed him) that would work better for that purpose. Hector does require that you pick out the tile and grout and deliver it to your space. Tile is super heavy, so bring a truck and a couple of friends or have it delivered. The work is impeccable, and though he quoted us 3-4 days to complete the project, he and his team finished in 2 days. That is what we call over-delivering. Being a small business owner, I really appreciate when fellow business owners are responsive, customer-oriented, and fair. He did a good enough job to where I would happily have him tile my house (and we are now considering this!) We paid half of the fee halfway through the project and the second half at completion of the project. read more

Had a small bathroom to re-tile. Hector gave a fair bid by me describing the project and sending him pictures. Reading other reviews and seeing this to be a simple job he seemed like the guy to go with. His two person crew who came out to do the job arrived on time and started immediately, with Hector reviewing what needed to be done. Hector then let his crew take care of things. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if these two have done tile work before, or much of it, as the tile was laid uneven throughout. Besides that, the tile in the bathroom was not level with the hallway tile (it was before this!). There is now a small lift or ledge going into the bathroom from the hallway. I traded messages with Hector, and he agreed to come out and take a look. I do like that he was willing to try and fix things. Hector was very disappointed in the how the different tiles were uneven and offered to correct those. He was unwilling to make the tile the same height at the bathroom/hallway, as this would mean doing the entire job over. In his defense, there is a slight, 1 degree slope of the hallway tile going to the bathroom, and he would need to slope the bathroom tile a bit to meet it (like it was). But, too much more work for such a small job. He did correct most of the problematic tiles. I need quite a bit more tile work to be done and was hoping Hector and his crew would be the team to do it but I will be going with someone else. It is too bad, since I think Hector himself is good, but I got stuck with a couple guys who didn't know what they were doing. Since Hector did come out and try and fix some of the issues I couldn't give him just one star. read more

Wow! Hector and his crew did an amazing job on our kitchen, hallway and bathroom that was a smaller project for him (233 square feet). Simple cost per square foot that was really affordable. Really friendly guy who was flexible when the project grew a bit the day he started. His crew were at our home for 2 days during the week while we were away at work and they left our place clean and safe. The floor was really well done but maybe the best thing about him is that he stands by his work. There was one tiny area with a problem and he came out the next day without hesitation and made a change to fix it to make sure were were happy with final product which we absolutely are. We had an excellent experience with this company. We found them through YELP and requested a quote. We heard back from Hector that evening, and he came out to evaluate the project the very next day. He gave us a great quote. It was more reasonable than having Bathfitters do the work and produced a much nicer result. He allowed us to save money by purchasing the materials ourselves, and told us how much of each type of tile and grout, etc to order. He and his helpers did a great job, and I was impressed that he did some of the more complicated work himself, rather than simply acting as a contractor. The best part was that our calls were returned promptly, the crew came on time and did what they said they would do. Since we were coordinating some other projects, we really appreciated being able to count on Hector to complete the work on schedule. Hector is a super nice guy. He gave me a good quote so I decided to go with him. I had some issues and he came out to fix them. As time went on we kept finding uneven tile throughout the entire house. Now I have to find another tile installer to fix all the the issues. I never asked, but I don't even know if he's a licensed tile contractor. I would of rather of paid more money to have it done right the first time. I think he does good work, but he was gone 2 days and like in previous posts I think it's his other workers. I'm somewhat lucky I went with a lighter tile and grout and it hides some of the bad spots. read more

We started using Hector back in 2018 and referred him to others but this year in the summer of 2020 he has botched a job and will not come out to fix it despite us giving him many opportunities to do so and him promising to repair it. We told him right after he installed the tile that the tiles were loose and came up, and months later he has not made any effort to fix the problem despite more than 10 attempts on our part. He also gave us bad direction on tiling another item that needed to be hot mopped setting our level different than expected and now we will have to pay a large sum to address the bad guidance and someone to repair the tiles that came up. While his prices are decent, the service and communication is lacking. read more

Hector's group did two bathroom remodels for me in Carlsbad, Ca; a full shower and a bathtub. It looked good except I did find the placement of the shower box a little odd in conjuction with the trim - overall I was satisfied until a couple weeks later when I went to flush the toilet and found it would not flush properly. A call out to a plumber showed there was GROUT in my TOILET. I contacted Hector and he denied that they had put grout in the toilet (I have told them directly not to use the toilets as a water source). I sent him the photo and he did not respond. So if you decide to go with Rojas Tile, tack 15 to 20 percent on top of his estimate for the DAMAGE you will have to cover once they get done. NOT WORTH IT. read more

I would give Hector 10 stars if I could. We had a small but difficult job where we had to tear out a bathtub and repair damaged floor joists and rim joists and tear out much of the tile around the tub. So it wasn't a clean job and Hector had to innovate to match existing tile patterns. The biggest problem was that the bottom of the tub didn't sit flush with the floor, and Hector figured out how to use curved tiles to fill in the extra space and make it look like a decorative addition. It was a brilliant idea and looks great. He also had his guys chip mortar off existing colored tiles that we couldn't match so that they could be reused. Not everyone is willing to work with a homeowner in this way. So if you're looking for someone who really cares about pleasing his customers, and is willing to go the extra mile to do so, Hector is your man! read more
