I needed a tile expert that can fix existing problems on ceramic tiles that were recently installed on my kitchen floor. I went through YELP and there was Luzaj Tile. Jimmy is awesome! Every time I look at my shower, I think, "I've got to write a review for Jimmy." Sorry, it took so long, Jimmy. Initially, friend and I attempted to do the project ourselves but, were overwhelmed. The walls were uneven and the look was coming out awful. Help! Jimmy and his assistant did an excellent job on my shower. If you notice, the marble swirls on the tile match up on each adjoining horizontal tile. Talk about attention to detail! Also, I was going to go in another direction regarding the bullnose tile around the window but, Jimmy described how it wouldn't look right. I'm glad I listened to the professional. Beautiful results. I purchased a condo in Little Italy that really needed new flooring. Unfortunately, I travel frequently for work and couldn't get them installed before moving in (Read: lots of furniture to move around during installation and a general pain for any contractor). Contacted Jimmy in January and had a personal deadline of getting the floors done by February. Work got super busy (I did say I travel frequently) and didn't get back to Jimmy until March. Thankfully, he was available and still willing to do the work. Of course I had to wait until April since he had jobs already lined up. Busy contractor = good contractor in my eyes, so I was willing to wait. It only seemed fair since I wasn't exactly keeping to my promised deadline. I upgraded from travertine tiles to marble tile and had bouts of anxiety thinking about spending that much money and picking the wrong person to install them. This would be a one shot deal; pick the wrong guy and I would be flushing all that money down the sink. Not a nice thought. But, I can safely say that all my fears were groundless. Jimmy has impeccable work ethic, experience and workmanship. Here's what really impressed me: 1) Trustworthy: Jimmy started the demo on Wednesday and I left for a 2-day business trip the next day. Basically, I threw him the keys and headed to the airport. All my stuff was still there when I returned (not that I was expecting otherwise) but what really impressed me was that no one from my HOA had any complaints. None. And they're a cranky bunch. I stressed to Jimmy that I was new to the building and didn't need/want to ruffle any feathers. He kept to his word and I was a happy camper. 2) Workmanship: My father is an experienced home renovator and when I showed him photos of the new floors, he was very impressed. Now that is a commendation! Hand leveled tiles, using no spacers and very thin grout. Wow. I'm very glad for his skills as I'm not the most creative of people, so to have someone who could guide me in tile placement and grout choice were very much appreciated. 3) Attitude: Always friendly with a ready smile and a good sense of humor. But more than the warm smiles, was his willingness to listen, discuss the job and go beyond the job description. When I asked Jimmy to level off the floors, he didn't balk and when I (last minute) decided to add the downstairs bathroom floor into the mix, he actually took the toilet out and placed the new tile underneath. What?! All without any complaints and still with a friendly smile. 4) High value for Cost: Surprisingly, Jimmy kept to the original bid + cost of leveling the floor (something I added after the bid was generated), even though the job took longer than anticipated (my old tile was a lot harder to demo and took an extra 1/2 day). His bid was competitive but with all the extra work, I thought it would have cost a lot more than it did. So I decided to give him a bonus. At my company, if you do well, you get a bonus. Jimmy deserved his bonus. If it wasn't apparent from my review, I highly recommend Jimmy to anyone who needs to have tile work done in their homes. I gave him the keys to my condo, with ugly, old floors and he returned back to me a home with beautifully installed, white marble floors. Now what's not to love about that? read more

We very recently had our entire first floor tiled. We were expecting tons of dust from the 'demo' but each piece of carpet, brick, tile, etc., was carefully removed and there was a lot less dust than we had thought. Watching how carefully Jimmy worked while removing the old stuff, we knew he would be just as careful and meticulous with the install. The tile work we were having done was to have a very thin grout line and use an epoxy based grout. Jimmy could not use spacers so we watched him as he had to lay each tile down and measure the spacing. Slow and tedious work for Jimmy. We ended up with a great looking floor which definitely beautified our home. We were pleased with his professionalism the extra effort he took to keep us informed of the current state of the project, and the advice given to us for the best possible finish to the install even if it meant more work for him. Jimmy's skill and professionalism, combined with his affable personality reduced the inherent stress of any large home project into pleasant week with a great looking floor at the end. I spent months getting bids on a small bathroom remodel including replacing wall and floor tile. The bids were so high I almost gave up. I then got a referral from my sister for a guy named Jimmy, aka Luzaj Tile. Jimmy was professional, pleasant and prompt (the three P's) and he did a PERFECT job. He even cleaned up!! He's here now finishing up a problem caused by the plumber. His idea saved having to remove two square feet of tile and Hardiebacker, move the shower valve 3/4" further into the wall and replace the tile and Hardiebacker. Jimmy & Nino did a fantastic job. They gave us a very reasonable quote and stuck to the original price even though the tile we picked out turned out to be a very time consuming install. The issue was that the tile sheets consisted of small marble pieces that were tied together with a paste/glue that disintegrated when they tried to cut it with the wet saw. They figured out how to make it work but it made the job a lot more complicated than it could have been with more forgiving tile. Our dishwasher broke, but we couldn't slide it out to fix because it had (stupidly) been tiled-in. Solution, remove the tile in front of it, take out the old dishwasher, replace the tile with spares we have on hand, and get a new (shorter) dishwasher. The first business I called, with stellar reviews, had a voice message stating that the next opening would be in 2 months! OK... Next call was to Jimmy Luzaj who, though busy, said he would try to squeeze me in in the next couple of days. That left me not expecting much, but within an hour I got a call telling me he could come over around noon to take a look. Immediate impression is Jimmy is a nice, friendly guy. He sized up the jobs, left a quote, and before he left matched the grout to swatches he carries, so that when he returned, he'd have everything he needed. Again, Jimmy left saying he'd try to squeeze me in sometime that week. And again, next day I get a call asking if he can come over and at least get started. 2 hours later the job was done. Jimmy and his helper replaced the tile, and without asking, they disconnect the dishwasher, lifted it out, and then took it outside for us. The best part, for the same price as the original quote, he not only tiled the space in front of the dishwasher - where it had to be removed to get it out - but he tiled the floor where the new dishwasher would go. His explanation, "I like people to be happy." Well, I am happy. The grout matched perfectly and you can't tell that the new tiles haven't been there all along. Workspace was left clean, an accomplishment in itself if you've ever seen the mess that chiseling-out old tiles and cutting new tiles creates. Would definitely call again. read more

Thrilled to write a review as there's nothing like finding a "diamond in the rough." I submitted an online request for bids for installing porcelain tile in our kitchen. Jimmy was the first to respond - approx 1 hour after I submitted the request. His quote was the best, nearly 15% less than the next best and included everything (mortar, grout, etc) When he came out, it was clear it was going to be more work than I described. But Jimmy honored his original bid - and when the floor turned out great, I paid him extra to make up for his extra work. He grudgingly accepted the money. We're now tiling our bathrooms. Jimmy is now my go-to man if I ever need any tile installation or renovation done in my home. His pricing was extremely reasonable considering the amount of work done. He and his crew demo'd approximately 1,300 sq ft worth of old tile flooring and installed new wood-look tile in the bottom and top floor. As with any demo job, there was dust everywhere. But Jimmy and his crew made sure to cover up our furniture and countertops before the process. Afterwards, they wiped and cleaned up all the dust from every nook and cranny and individual items! Not a trace was left behind. The workmanship on the installation is incredible. Every single tile is completely level and uniform throughout the entire house. There are some cuts that were made to certain tiles in order to fit into awkward spaces that are truly a work of art. He also took the time to explain the importance of installing new hardybacker board underneath the tile on the second floor and any other concerns we had.
