Bob did a great job removing my old cast iron under mount sink that was sandwiched between granite tile and plywood. I was told by other installers there's a likely hood the tiles will break during the removal process, which might mean having to replace the whole countertop. Highly Recommend! We needed to have some travertine tiles replaced in a master bath after having the floor removed for plumbing repairs. I was lucky to get a referral from a friend whose contractor had used Tilewerks for her bathroom remodel. We contacted Bob at Tilewerks, he responded immediately, and he was able to give us an estimate based on photos, which I felt was a good estimate, and set us on his schedule right away. He even dropped by in advance to check the job out when he was in the area. He was extremely nice and professional! He arrived first thing in the morning as scheduled. His work was great! When I was looking for a tile person, I checked Yelp first. Tilewerks wasn't on here. Luckily, my neighbor referred me. I have learned to be wary of 5 star reviews due my encounters with a couple of such places. However, these guys were awesome! My tile job was not an easy one. I have a tight kitchen where he couldn't move around my appliances easily. Also, I live several floors up in a condo with a strict HOA that watches all of us closely. Contractors have to fill out forms, provide proof of insurance and a copy of their license. They also have to sign that they have read and understand the rules. The rules are kind of stated in a condescending manner. Bob was happy to take the job. His pricing was at or better than that of the two other people I called. He filled out the forms and got back to me with a quote in a very timely manner. After two weeks of work, I didn't hear a single complaint from the HOA and that is pretty much unheard of. Once they pulled up my carpet, it was clear that my floor was very uneven and would require extra work. Again, I am on the top floor with a strict HOA. Bob didn't complain at all but let me know it would take longer. I plan to attach before and after pictures if YELP lets me. I almost forgot... the floor is beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the results. Lastly, Bob is not a "yes man". If he sees potential issues with your requests, he will let you know and make suggestions. read more

Bob gave us a reasonable quote to repair a tile job in our bathroom that was done last year by a contractor who did it incorrectly. It caused a water leak and some damage to the wood. Bob repaired it and did other areas that were not holding up. He did not add any more charges to the bill. He stayed in touch with me on time as to when he would arrive and if he was going to be late he called to let me know. It was a small job and took about a day and a half. We appreciated his fast response as a lot of companies don't want to be bothered with a small job. We will definitely use him for any future tile work we may need. Bob and his team -- Rafael, Frank, Soto -- installed 1,100 square feet of wood-look porcelain planks in my home. The installation involved 2 different sizes of planks (1 of the planks is 48" long, the other much shorter) according to a fairly complex pattern. The results are fantastic! Team Tilewerks also tiled the master bath shower and backsplash using a combination of porcelain and Travertine materials that turned out really good. Given the amount of product needed for both projects, Bob was able to get me a price from the supplier that I could not otherwise touch. Among 4 competing bids, his price for labor was not the lowest nor the highest. Good cleanup, friendly, and great communication. Overall, Tilewerks' performance exceeded my expectations. My wife's friend Karen contracted Bob Urkhart to do some adobe tile work outside her house. It's gorgeous, to say in the least! Bob gave her the lowest estimate and responded to all her text messages and e-mail messages swiftly. Always very respectful and punctual. Bob has an excellent aesthetic eye and made wonderful recommendations about the placement of the tile (on a diagonal, etc.) on the front hardscape. Very patient with all Karen's million questions and concerns. Only thing is, Tilewerks doesn't supply the tile, so you do need to purchase the tile yourself, but that's similar to a lot of tile masons out there. In Feb 2011, I found Bob at Tilewerks from using Service Magic now HomeAdvisor (Yelp was not as popular back then). You can see many positive reviews there but I wanted to support Yelp reviews. Out of 3 quotes Tilewerks was mid priced. Very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Bob came out and quoted a mosaic glass tile backsplash installation (I had purchased the tile and chickened out of doing it myself). Thank goodness - I was going to use the wrong grout and just buying all the tile supplies for a small job was crazy expensive! The installer Walter was very neat, on time, cleaned up, did not mind my unusually loud pets (not much room in a small condo). Bob came back later to seal the tile and also helped me with some other issues as well. Even though this project was small they treated me like I was having a complete remodel. Do yourself a favor and call Bob first before you buy or plan anything; he offers great advice and service.
