BBQ Gator Skewers with rice and cheese (+jalapeños).
    Sun S.

My mother and I have been here twice and it's a truly great place. I'm going to give this establishment a 5 star here, but in reality, I'd rate it a 4.5. There are just a few small things keeping it from truly being a 5 for me. Let's dive in. First off, I got the BBQ Gator Skewers. They are truly fantastic, but only come default with one side (usually rice) and only one skewer. It's not worth the $22.00+ price that they have it set at. Give me one more skewer and one more side, then it's worth this much. My mother chose to get the hamburger steak, a salad, and a loaded baked potato. I can say that the steak itself and the salad were superb. It's too often that we find establishments using bagged salad ingredients and it's just awful. Rogue Local's salads are fresh. Just how it should be. Now, onto the issues that made our experience not a perfect 5. First off, there was a fair amount of miscommunication with our waiter Hutch. My food arrived missing the rice, which I had said to keep after asking for the fries. My mother got the complete wrong hamburger steak and never ordered the Philly cheese one. The baked potato that my mother got was over cooked, but we made do. Now, onto the real killer. Rogue Local, your brown gravy tastes like it's a mix and it's awful. Please change this and start making it homemade. Any dish you have that comes with brown gravy is being lowered in quality because of your current brown gravy. As for Hutch, he's a genuinely great guy. I just think he was missing his stride a little bit here today. This restaurant is truly great and I recommend you try it out. Oak finally has a competitor that's not Catfish King or Jake's in Idabel.

My husband and I recently ate here for the first time and we both really enjoyed our food! Not only was the presentation of the food eye appealing, but it tasted really good as well. He ordered the Beef Protein Bowl and I ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad. As they were carrying it out to me, a customer said, "Oh that looks really good" and it really was. I also enjoyed the ranch dressing, I hate bottled ranch dressing, but there's seemed to be homemade and tasted really good. I was disappointed they didn't have any bottled water, but my husband went next-door to the drugstore and got me some. I have to drink very filtered water and so water that just comes out of the soda machine doesn't work for me, but we were able to resolve that. Honestly, I wasn't too crazy about their bread and butter, but was thankful they brought us some. Outside of that, we would both give our dinners a five 5. Overall, we had a positive dining experience and we hope to go there again.

The portions were huge! We had enough for 2 meals!

Don't let the young staff fool you. This place is amazing. The food was delish and the atmosphere was unique. The service was top tier.

The nerve to bake the 25% tip in then ask for a additional tip is infuriating. Overpriced and price gouging behavior from management.

I saw a video on Tik Tok by a well known hair salon owner in Dallas recommending him - LEGIT! Our hand-selected menu: - Prime Grade 16 oz Ribeye - American Wagyu 20 oz - Caesar salad (requested no anchovies but he usually adds them) - Brussels and crispy pork belly - Mushroom risotto - Smoked Gouda Mac and cheese - Herbed fresh green beans - Chocolate whiskey cake He will take custom food orders as well (even fresh seafood!). I cannot explain how EVERY bite of every item had incredible flavor. Delicious is an understatement. Chef Phil cooked, cleaned (counter/stove tops, took out the trash, loaded and started dishwasher), and provided nice to-go containers for leftovers. He did everything within 2 hours of arrival for two of us. The leftovers the next day were just as flavorful as freshly served! Reserve your date WELL in advance as his schedule stays full. Is it affordable? YES! I paid Chef Phil the same amount as going to a 5 star steak restaurant in Tulsa or Dallas and that included his time/travel (he should charge more!). The food was 5 star quality as well; actually, better! Besides being an amazing cook, Chef Phil is a kind, personable guy. It was a pleasure having him in our cabin, and we will use him on all future cabin trips!

They stayed on top of the water refills and I appreciated the vat (I'm kidding) I mean the squeeze bottle of ranch dressing (yes, I am one of those people.) The fries had the peels on which I love and they were pretty tasty. I had the mushroom bacon swiss burger and my hubby had the classic burger without cheese. Both burgers were good. He ordered onion rings and those were a big hit. I would also note that the onions rings appeared beer battered and a bit more cakey with a smoother finish than ones with flour breading. That is a personal preference for some. They were very good. I love love love the atmosphere here. It has such a nice patio atmosphere and there were lots of families and couples dining al fresco. We would definitely return. It is so nice to sit outside here.

Right off the bat, their draft beer machine wasn't working, so we stuck with water and a soda. After being seated, there was a noticeable delay before our waitress came back. She explained she was dealing with an issue on another customer's credit card, which slowed things down. We started with the fried pickles. They were very good. Crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked right, but the portion felt a little light for an appetizer. For the main, we shared the Oklahoma country fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. That was the highlight. The steak had a solid crust with good flavor, and everything on the plate was done right. No complaints there. Overall, the food was strong, especially the country fried steak, but the service and the draft beer situation held it back some. If they tighten that up, it'd be a much better experience.

The drinks were okay and very average - it wouldn't keep us away or bring us back! As an appetizer, we had the fried Swiss cheese. It was definitely different and interesting in comparison to your mozzarella, but it was cool to try! I wouldn't reorder. My husband had a 8oz. Sirloin with a side of corn and I had the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tenders were delicious, but the frozen crinkle cut fries dampened the whole meal - for almost $20 for chicken tenders, I would've loved some house made or hand battered fries! The rolls with each meal were good, but could've used some butter! The steak was well cooked and the corn had good flavor! Everything was mediocre overall, we would likely come back on account of the chicken tenders, but wouldn't run back for anything else.
