My mother and I recently moved close by and began our journey of trying and exploring some new places to eat. Yesterday, this establishment came up and we decided to try it. Why not? Upon first entering, the woman who seated us didn't mention anything and just started walking towards where she wanted us to be. Perhaps we didn't hear her say "follow me"? We started looking at the menu and was surprised to see that it takes simplistic to new heights. There's not a whole lot to choose from really, which isn't always a bad thing. With this in mind, my mother and I ordered a hamburger each, basically the same. I had mustard added to mine and sweet potato fries, while she had tater tots. They were out of regular french fries due to an issue with their distributor, which surely shouldn't stop an establishment like this with all of their awards from making them fresh, right? Some time later, our hamburgers came to us and here is where the pain train begins. Our hamburgers were not properly dressed. Mine came missing the lettuce and tomato. My mother's lacked lettuce, tomatoes, and onions all together. We ended up having to flag a waitress down to end up dressing the hamburgers ourselves. My mother received a tomato ring that had sloppily been cut and looked like it was two or three times the size it should have been. The buns felt a little slim and the bottoms of them were nothing but a blood and grease soaked flimsy mess. What about my sweet potato fries and her tater tots? My sweet potato fries were solid, at least to me, but my mother's tater tots were definitely slightly overcooked. At least they weren't heavily salted to oblivion like most restaurants will do. On a personal note, I found the meat itself to be solid, the sweet potato fries decent, and the drinks were good. They also compensated our entire check, which I can always appreciate when an establishment does this for an unsatisfied guest and I felt that Darlene really wanted to fix it, but there was really nothing else she could of done. I gave a 3 star rating, because I don't have the option to give a 2.5 star rating and I really feel like on a better day, this establishment is deserving of all of the rewards on their back wall, but for us, we see no reason to ever return. read more

I have eaten at The Red B Restaurant over a handful of times. We have eaten in the restaurant and gotten food to go. The food is always good. It is hard to find a local restaurant these days and I have yet to get a bad meal. The restaurant is nice and clean and has a cozy vibe. As they are get more tourists traveling through they are adding more seating. I wish I could say the same about the service. Wait staff is usually friendly. However, not everyone is a tourist but from your home town. But it should not matter. The front staff lately seems put out and just unfriendly and bothered customers were there at all. Came here with family on a Friday evening. The restaurant is located in Downtown Idabel. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean, spacious, and cozy for a nice family outing or casual date night. The hostess who seated us seemed slightly shocked to learn we had a party of 5. I'm not sure if we broke a record or what haha. Nonetheless, they accommodated us with ease. 4 out of 5 of us ordered the Catfish Dinner, which was their Friday special for $10.95 or something like that. I opted for sweet potato fries and substituted my cole slaw for mixed veggies. You can get a baked sweet potato with brown sugar too (yum!). My sister-in-love ordred the pork chop and said it was tasty. All was very good and I can proudly add The Red B to my short list of restaurants who have tasty sweet potato fries and a delicious Arnold Palmer. Yay!! Their portions are large too. The kiddies can definitely eat off of your plate. In my opinion their catfish beats Catfish King by far. The seasoning is just better. I'd return for sure and probably get one of those good-looking burgers. I've heard they are a delight! One of my favorite aspects is this a Christian-owned restaurant. Two friends and myself stopped in for lunch, I ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a side salad with honey mustard dressing, My friend Susie ordered the hamburger steak without the grilled onions and brown gravy - she said it was delicious very tasty. Ray ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich with fries (Awesome). Rating the chicken fried steak is a big 5 stars, that was one of the best chicken fried steaks I have eaten. I can't tell you how much I loved this place!!this was my first visit to the lovely town of Idabel, population under 10,000 where the closest Walgreens is either found in Paris, Texas or Arkansas. Only 2.3 miles from where we were staying, we ventured towards "downtown" Idabel. We easily found the establishment and at first glance were a little underwhelmed from outside. There were crayon colored pictures all over the window. Rest assured, we definitely learned not to judge a book by its cover. We were warmly greeted upon our entry and were offered drinks immediately. The menus were full and there were even specials taped inside. Our meal started with delicious, crispy, fried green beans. They come with ranch, but bypass that for jalapeño ranch! Our side salads were as expected, but were also served with INCREDIBLE rolls!!! Yum! And if you go on Fridays they have in-house blended honey butter!!! Luckily, we were able to try some. So good!! My friend had the salmon with wild rice and broccoli. I had the center cut pork chop with red skin mashed potatoes and onion rings. Everything we are was awesome. We followed dinner with chocolate pie and coconut pie. This was one of the finest meals I have ever eaten in the state of Oklahoma, and I've been in the state for 50 years. The only drawback for me is that this hidden gem is 160 miles from my front door. The chicken fried steak was grandma slapping perfect with just right ratio of fork tender meat to crunchy brown crust. The angus ribeye was perfectly grilled, tender, and succulent. Served with two sides and and amazingly fresh salad, I just can't remember when I was so blown away by a food experience. Let me tell you with honesty that tomorrow I'm going to have to go to my great grandmas gravesite and apologize for writing these next words - I'm not sure I've had a better slice. My aunt and I were headed to New Orleans from OKC and chose to take some scenic routes. When looking for places to eat we chose this one because it was on our route we had laid out.
