I recently visited Roger's shop as a first-time client after seeing the amazing job that he had done with my friend's hair. And I can't wait to go back.
I am a Black woman with very fickle hair, slow hair-growth, and scalp issues, so it is very difficult for me to trust new people with my hair. As he emphasizes hair health over everything else, I felt comfortable entrusting my tresses to Roger. And I'm glad I did.
Before my first visit, we sat and talked for about 5 minutes so he understood my concerns, struggles, and what I was looking to get out of our visits. He listened intently and provided a sort of "treatment" plan that I felt comfortable with. He is well-versed in dealing with ALL types of hair, and truly understands how to style hair. You won't walk out looking matronly or with that infamous "church curl" or "bump." Roger gave me a trim (all cuts come with complimentary Olaplex treatments!!), added some dimension and shape to my hair, explained everything he was doing, and even explained where he envisions "taking" my hair in the future.
He's got a background in working backstage in fashion (has assisted/worked backstage at shows at New York Fashion Week, European Fashion Weeks, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, etc.), so he truly understands "wearable" hair, and can give you that gorgeous, lived-in wave that we all strive for.
He's also COVID-safe. He does not double book: I was the only person in the studio with Roger at the time of my appointment, and we both wore masks the entire time.
Finally, his space is gorgeous. He works out of a collective of artists' studios, so you feel like you're transported into a Brooklyn loft when you walk into his place (look at his Instagram for context/some gorgeous hair photos/to get a sense of his vibrant personality).
You will NOT regret visiting Roger! read more
