Loved everything about my pandemic experience at TheStudeo. I highly recommend Victoria in particular! A friend recommended Victoria after I had a couple bad experiences over the past year. And I can say that I finally found my DC stylist! Haircut from Victoria Victoria was really knowledgeable and noticed how badly my hair was bleached by one stylist, and even noticed the uneven haircut from the next one. She was super friendly and honestly, it made a difference that she empathized with my last experience. I felt like she had high standards and that I could trust my hair with her. She was awesome in listening to what I was looking for and offered suggestions for temporarily camouflaging the bad dye job while my hair grows out. After the haircut, my hair looks voluminous and healthy again. The toner evened out my hair color and the haircut offered some bouncy layers to add more volume. The Ambiance and Pandemic Safety Measures The salon had lots of light and has a relaxing ambiance. The music was not too loud and it was nice and refreshing to be in AC after walking through 90 degree weather to get there! It was completely empty except for my stylist and the shampoo person. They wiped everything down before and after every client and everyone wore masks. I definitely felt safe coming in during the pandemic. Pricing $90 for a haircut and $60 for a toner was super reasonable compared to other places in the area. Definitely worth it considering that Victoria did an awesome job! I had hoped to come back to TheStudeo sooner, however due to COVID19, I wasn't able to come in until recently. Once again, I had an amazing experience here--Just like last time, Victoria did an amazing job with cutting (and styling) my hair! As an update to my last review, I was really surprised and pleased with how my hair grew out, not just with the haircut Victoria had given me (over eight months ago) but also with the color! My previous haircut before coming to TheStudeo was fine, but a bit annoying to maintain--I had to straighten my hair every day since either the left side/right side/or both sides of my hair would always curl outwards. When I had my first haircut here, I told her that she could do whatever she thought may look good. It wound up being growing out very well and also was extremely easy to maintain: In the eight months since I got my first haircut with Victoria, I haven't had to use a hair straightener! Victoria had also given me great product recommendations (without pressuring me into buying anything) which really helped my hair look healthy again after the foliage. Victoria is so friendly and I really enjoyed speaking with her: I actually completely lost track of time and the 40-minute haircut actually passed by so quickly! She was also very willing to help me with my many many questions about hair, which I really appreciate! Just got back from my appointment with Victoria. I came in and was welcomed by two cute puppies! (Almost dog-napped those babies) They made my day! I was scheduled for 12:30 and came in about 10 mins late! Sorry y'all! I sat down and we discussed my hair. I told her I wanted to go dark (it's fall season and I wanted to get rid of my then blonde streaks). I had originally booked a balayage, Victoria sat me down after assessing my hair and suggested that I do a partial foil and some other hair consults (I left it in her hands) I didn't book for a cut but asked if she could squeeze in a trim for me and she gladly did. I got a balayage and it definitely was on the pricier end. I was there for a total of 5 hours with JESSI (who is amazing) and my hair came out looking exactly the way I wanted it to! I'm giving 5 stars but they seriously deserve 10. I contacted Frankie on Wednesday night asking if they could see me on a bit short notice. I got an unexpected interview and landed a great internship the same day and I just had to get my hair done. It was lilac over the summer, with lots of different shades of purple and silver running through. I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge, because I wanted to go from purple to blonde. So starts the adventure. They got me in this morning (Friday) first thing and they spent almost five hours on my hair. The color just did not want to let go! The color corrector could only be used three times at once, and though it lifted the purple out I was left with a greenish and yellow tint in my hair. After lifting the color they got me to a nice platinum and titanium color, but it still had a greenish tint in the back where I couldn't really see it. They easily could have let me leave, said "well it's blonde" and sent me out the door. Honestly there are probably a lot of salons in DC that would have done just that. But not Frankie. He was determined to make sure he did it right and that I would be happy and have no regrets. I cannot even begin to express how impressed I am with him. He was very creative, figuring out which colors he could put in to counteract the yellow and green and get me to the blonde I wanted. We probably tried ten different things to get it right. But he did. The color is great. He wasn't able to get it quite what we were looking for, but that was no fault of his own whatsoever. I had this little section where the previous color just wouldn't let go enough for it to be that lifted. But that said, my hair looks fantastic. I'm super happy with it, and I am incredibly impressed with Frankie and his team of lovely ladies. Everyone was friendly and respectful. Every time they brushed my hair, or washed, or did anything, they asked if I was comfortable or if they were hurting me. It's really great when the person doing your hair actually cares about what they are doing. It's clear that everyone there loves what they do, and it felt like they were family. It's great to see work environments like that. I highly recommend these guys. Both for talent and atmosphere! Believe all the great Yelp reviews- this place is AMAZING!! After searching for a salon for over seven years in DC- I found my hair home. This place is a high-end (yet not unreasonably priced), boutique salon with amazing artists and assistants. Jessi is truly a color genius and after sitting in the chair for four hours- I saw Frankie and Jasmine work their magic on numerous clients too! These folks are artists - they are thoughtful, careful, and take their work seriously- which is admired and appreciated. Prior to visiting Jessi, I hadn't colored my hair in many, many years due to a bad experience. At my appointment, she was honest and thoughtfully grounded expectations and discussed maintenance. All I had to do was tell her I wanted rose gold balayage and showed her about five pictures for inspiration. Then, I trusted her judgement and let her do her magic. The result was beautiful! She did a custom color using ~five colors to get exactly what I wanted. I truly love the end result-and have inspired a few friends to get fun colored balayage too! One of the assistants- Michael- was also awesome and hilarious. He was like a ping pong bouncing around to help everyone wherever he was needed. He was great! Lastly, the environment is really fun! Typically, I view beauty appointments as a chore but they make the experience really fun! Tips: -Full balayage on hair with no color took about 4.5 hours so plan accordingly. -Tips are cash or Venmo only. -Ask Jessi to take a before picture! I love viewing my before and after pictures. -As others have mentioned, it can be hard to find- go up the stairs and follow the signs! -Be sure to discuss maintenance if you are getting any color done. I bought some great product that was very reasonably priced. -Jessi is also well known in the city for color correction!! I booked an appointment with Frankie (per the reviews). When I got there Frankie told me he did not have time to do what my hair needed but that he would start and then let Victoria take over. The salon was empty (as in I was literally the only client there for 4 hours - before Frankie's next client arrived) however in all those hours Frankie did not even take a quick look at what Victoria was doing, not even once for a quick second. He did not touch my hair AT ALL. I think this is where the problem resides, since all the good reviews are for Frankie and Jessi, not for Victoria. Long story short ($600 dollars later, a lecture and signing a waiver on color correction), I am now walking around with a very blonde-without dimension-hair that looks nothing but cheap. I must admit that my mistake was to "cheat" on Jeremy from one80 salon! Jeremy "color corrected" my hair and did the most beautiful job EVER, in 6 hours of work for $400 !!! One80 salon is where a lot of the who-is-who in DC go to, Jeremy has about 20 years of experience and he charged me less than The Studeo... The problem is that Jeremy is so popular so getting an appointment with him can take months! But lesson learned, I am waiting next time... read more

Took a chance on The Studeo after reading some great reviews about it on Yelp. Decided to go with Lene because one Yelper said she was knowledgeable about Asian hair and edgy cuts. I knew I wanted a bob and a darker color with purple tint and she knew just what I wanted. We discussed a way for me to be able to pull it off. Jasmine asked for feedback and approval multiple times during this discussion.
