We went to Rod's Kitchen today and it was fabulous!! We both had catfish. Our sides were baked beans which were perfect along with fries and okra! The seasoning on the catfish was right on time. Let me start by saying the person working the register was the best! I can here because of a review that was posted and it showed grilled fish. When I tried to order the grilled fish, the person working the register said they didn't have it! But she then said she would ask if they can do it just for me! She came back and saidYES!!!! I went enthusiastically to this establishment based on the reviews here and on neighborhood app. We explicitly asked if it was real catfish or swai and the owner acted shocked we would even suggest that. He said they would never sell that. We also got some wings, regular and raspberry, potato salad, etc. We also explicitly asked if there was meat in the baked beans or were they regular out of the can. We were told they added pork. Almost everything we ate was terrible. The catfish was not true catfish. It had the weird texture of swai. The wings were large but the hype was not warranted. The raspberry tasted like jelly on wings. The young lady at the counter was not professional. On our way out we saw the wife coming in with Bush's baked beans. The sides, beans spilled in the bag and they did not include the greens. I would in no way recommend this restaurant. read more

First time coming to Rod's but it definitely won't be the last. Your food it cooked when you order and only takes about 15 minutes. The fish is seasoned where you don't need hot sauce but we were told about the Rod sauce and oh my. We also got raspberry Chipotle and pineapple mango habanero chicken strips and you can't go wrong with either. Then my eyes caught the dessert menu options of Ms. Tiffanie and I was mind blown. I ordered the banana pudding. Then I was told about a peach cobbler cheesecake. Now I'm from Atlanta so I love me some peaches and cheesecake is my fave. I never would've thought to combine the two and let me tell you that this twist on dessert was a flavorful TKO and pure deliciousness. I smiled from ear to ear and ate this cake on the spot it was that good. Additionally, I discovered the veteran affiliation which made me fall in love with this spot even more because I also served and they have shaved ice! Truly a Swiss Army knife of flavorful variety. I don't recommend spending your money money at this establishment because of their customer service. I walked in one day, and ordered a burger. The cashier rung me up for $9 and some change, for what I thought was one burger, as that is what Requested, "one burger.". I paid the cashier, then sat down and waited for my order. long story short, the cashier charged me for a combo when I clearly asked for a burger. I asked why did I get fries, I only wanted a burger. No one offered to make this right, so I took my order and left. The cashier's listening skills is not all there, and the customer service is not either.
