I found Rodolfo on Yelp and walked into his shop (no appointment) with one evening gown first thing in the morning when he opened, and he was more than happy to help me even though it was clear he was very busy given the holiday season. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave his professional opinion after asking me what I needed. I had to get the bottom of the dress shortened and the leg slit closed up a few inches. The price was a little higher than I expected but I think, after receiving the dress back with all the changes, that it was more than worth it. After reading all of the 5-star reviews, I had to see what the hype was about. Since I work in the Pru, Copley Mall is a quick walk across the sky bridge. Rodolfo's storefront is on the 3rd floor (where the offices are). Just take the escalator outside Barney's up 2 floors. Rodolfo will be on your left. There is a comfortable waiting area in the front and a large dressing room in the back. When I walked in, Rodolfo was talking to one of his customers who appeared to be a regular. I started talking to them, and the customer told me he had been coming to Rodolfo for over 20 years. That's a pretty good sign! I was having 1 pair of jeans and 2 pairs of sweatpants hemmed. For the sweatpants, I wanted slits cut into the sides to give them a wide leg appearance (I'm not into this skinny leg thing). I stayed a little while after and we conversed about business and our personal lives. He's truly one of the nicest people I've ever met. I picked up my pants earlier this week and they all came out perfectly. Rodolfo's basic hem charge is $20. For dress/suit pants he charges $25, and for original hem jeans he charges $35. He has a full price list on display, so there will be no surprises. His prices are definitely higher, but he's also a one man operation and his store is in the most expensive real estate in Massachusetts. For the quality of his work and customer service, I did not feel his prices were outrageous. Rodolfo is cash only and his typical turn around time is 1 week. I have a couple suits I need taken in, but I'm waiting to lose a little weight before I'm measured. I know it won't be cheap, but I'm confident Rodolfo will make them look like a million bucks when he's done with them! read more

World class service is hard to come by even in the most sophisticated of places. I flew in for a conference from Chicago and had a suit that desperately needed tailoring. Typically I am always able to trust my tailor in Chicago but the timeline (just a few hours before I left) understandably wasn't going to work. I quickly found great reviews for Rodolpho here on Yelp and gave him a call. I'm glad I did! We agreed I would drop by the next day and he would take a look at the jacket. So long as the alteration was as I said it would be, and no additional work was needed, he was happy to help. Sure enough I arrived and was greeted by Rodolpho's humor and generous hospitality. He made the alteration exactly as promised and for that I am incredibly grateful. My suit is just as I needed it and I could not be more impressed by his willingness to assist me and ability to get the job done with absolute precision. He has a piece of art in his lobby that talks about tailoring as an art form. What a great find! Rodolfo is the man. I have taken FIVE bridesmaid dresses to him, and he does a great job every time. He only takes cash, but he's not nasty about it - if you can't pay when you drop off, he gently reminds you 'cash only' for when you pick up. And I completely respect that he's trying to keep his business lean and avoid the monster credit card company fees. To demonstrate how great he is - one of my dresses needed to be hemmed, let out, and tacked at the bust. He forgot to let it out when i picked it up, 2 days before the wedding. He apologized profusely and said I could come back in 2 hours to come get it. He very obviously was going to do whatever it took to get me that dress, and I really appreciated it. Found Rodolfo on Yelp as many others have and needed a tricky seem hemmed on the back of my Hickey Freeman tweed jacket which required a tricky undoing of the seams along the inner collar and lining. I cannot say enough about how great the experience with Rodolfo was. We were in a real bind. I had ordered a made-to-order suit online that was way too tight (3-4 inches small) and the company told me to seek out the highest rated tailor on Yelp and get the alterations necessary. We found Rodolfo, and he took us step by step through the process, and was super upfront as he showed us how there maybe a quarter inch of additional fabric available to expand the suit and that there was absolutely no way the jacket was getting expanded even by an inch based on the very limited extra panel and lining fabrics remaining passed the seams. At this point both my fiancee and I were pretty stressed, what were we going to do? We needed a quick turn around to make this all work and get on our flights, and leave town in a week! But Rodolfo was calm, cheerful and a great font of advice. He suggested that if we could find another suit at one of the department stores (he even suggested multiple store options based on our budget), one that fit pretty well, he would prioritize my suit and get it turned around in 24 hrs to make sure I could try it on before taking off. We did just that and he lived up to his promise and got my suit looking great and me feeling great in it. With no doubts, if I need to get something tailored in Boston, I'm going to Rodolfo. I first started going to Rodolfo about 10 years ago. He was fantastic! He turned dresses that were too big or long into beautiful things that fit me perfectly. A creator of masterpieces, I say....I have been away from Boston for about 8 years, and just returned this fall. I am soooo happy to know that Rodolfo is still is business at his same location at Copley Plaza. He is so fantastic that I sought him out AGAIN to do many alterations for me, as I lost a considerable amount of weight, and needed various items to be taken in or adjusted about 2 sizes down. I will only take my premium denim to Rodolfo. He has taken in the waist and hemmed my jeans and you cannot even tell. I have several dresses that have boning in the top part like a corset, with a ton of fabric in the skirt area (also high end) and he has also successfully taken them in about 2 sizes. They look gorgeous! I would not trust anyone else with my premium clothing! His service is worth every penny. Roldofo is courteous, professional, friendly, and honest, and meticulous. He treats clothing like it is his own. Some might consider his prices high (about $25 for hemming denim, and $25 to take the waist in...more for the dresses of course), but it is worth it to preserve the integrity of your clothing! For half the price of one pair of my jeans, he altered 4 items for me, and it's like I have a new wardrobe! His location is a bit confusing. In the winter, I bought a lot of coats and suit jackets from the Garment District which were in a state of disrepair, it seemed anyway. I decided to see how much it would cost to get them looking a little bit more decent (as the jackets only cost 10 dollars in the first place) I didn't really mind sheeling out some money to get them fixed. Rofolfo made all these jackets look better than new and it hardly cost me that much money. I also took my winter jacket to him, which was missing a lining in the sleeve, the liner on the inside and was ripped at the seems, he made it look totally new. And I had it back relatively quickly. A tailoring tale with timeline: Wednesday night 7PM: I go into Filene's Basement and buy a pair of Incotex and Barbera trousers that fit well and are deeply discounted. Friday 1:15PM: I call Rodolfo to inquire about their hours. Yelp reviews and some word of mouth pointed me in his direction. Rodolfo: We're open till six on Friday and usually on Saturday too, but tonight I leave for a 2 week vacation. Me: Oh too bad, I hoped to get something done for next week. Rodolfo: What do you need done? Me: Just some work on a couple pair of trousers. Rodolfo: How far away are you? Me: 20-30 minutes. Rodolfo: Bring them over and I'll try to do them today. Friday 2:00: I arrive at Rodolfo's shop. He does the fitting and says they'll be done by 4:30. Friday 4:30: I leave with my trousers beautifully hemmed/cuffed and pressed!! THAT is what I call good service. Of course I don't expect that kind of turn around every time, but the fact that Rodolfo was willing to help out a first-time customer like that speaks volumes about his character. Oh Rodolfo. What can I say? The man charges for what he's worth. You can't fault him there. Also, I'm the sure his prime real estate in Copley Plaza doesn't come cheap. I usually bring a couple pairs of nice pants/jeans to him per year for alterations because he keeps the orginal hem, and does it flawless! But you'll pay $35 per pair to keep it original. If you only need a button sewn on or don't care how the hem looks, I wouldn't suggest this place for you. But if you have a nice pair of dress pants/designer jeans, he's your man. I recently had my 2 suits tailored and wanted to let you all know how much of a fantastic job rodolfo did. I purchased my 2 Theory suits from Saks and wanted/needed to go to a tailor who I know would do a flawless job. The sales person I dealt with at Saks recommended Rodolfo so I took his word for it and went in one day.. and WOW am I glad I did. I had to get a few things done for both of the suits (shortening the sleeves, tightening the chest area for a slim look, and also shortening the slacks a bit) and as I was trying them on after the work was done, I was so happy and also relieved.. Since they were not cheap by any means. I can't possibly be more satisfied with Rodolfo's work. Let me tell you, if you have clothing that is either expensive or something you really care for, do yourself a favor and go see Rodolfo. read more

After several bad experiences with free tailoring included with purchase at Saks, Neiman Marcus and other retail chains, I now buy off the rack and pay the extra $ to have Rodolfo do it -- the difference is huge. Consistent with everyone else's review, not cheap, but totally worth it. I've also had older quality pants, jackets recut to bring them back in style. The cost of tailoring is a lot cheaper than buying new pants or a suit. It's a lost art! read more

Outstanding tailor. I brought in an expensive new OTR suit from my favorite brand in my normal sizing. Rodolfo said the sizing looked terrible, and sent me away to return the Regular size (which normally fits me well) for a Short. I ordered 3 in that size/cut, and brought them back. The size difference, which is pretty subtle, meant that he barely had to do any work except for sleeves and pants length. They fit nearly perfectly. Wow, that's really disturbing. I just read Mimi C's review, and in the interest of the public good, I feel like I have to relate my personal experience at Rodolfo's as well. I did not find a camcorder, but I didn't look either. I was definitely uncomfortable during my hour or so at Rodolfo's. As a caveat before you say "what a moron," let me just say that I view (or viewed) tailors as being similar to a doctor--they see things that others wouldn't in the interst of my general good. In this case the general good was making a fitted dress fit perfectly. So, what was so discomfiting? Well, during the course of the fitting, he had me take off my underwear, because it was right where this very fitted dress's seam was. So, I did it, because I wanted it to fit. I hadn't ever done this before, but it seemed plausible. Then, as he ran back and forth from the fitting room he told me "don't bother to put on your clothes while I'm gone." Frankly, I wouldn't have wasted the time without his admonition, but being told not to was a little creepy. Additionally he suggested (repeatedly) that I sit on a little box "to make myself comfortable." Well, the box was wooden, about 4" tall and 6" x 6" and looked about the last thing from comfortable. This is the point that I thought "well, this would be really uncomfortable if there were a camera or peephole, but only a sicko would do that." You can imagine how disgusting it was to read Mimi's review and realize that during the hour I was in the fitting room naked there may well have been a camera! Ew. Let me say, my comments are purely circumstantial. I did not find a camcorder--nor did I look. But, the behavior, coupled with someone who did find a camera is enough to make me very leary. Additionally, I would point out that the set up at Rodolfo's is such to foster voyeurism. After thinking about this, I realized that every tailor I have ever gone to in the past has had a dressing room, the sole purpose of which was for me to change into clothes, then I come out, stand in front of the mirror, and he or she pins and chalks in the open in front of anyone waiting or otherwise. At Rodolfo's the mirror is IN the dressing room. Again, circumstantial, but a little weird when you consider it in light of everything else. The tailoring is good, but the professionalism is definitely suspect. I think with this type of profession you have to bend over backwards to be circumspect, and having a video camera in the dressing room certainly isn't. My husband and I just took our stuff to Newbury tailoring which was a refreshing, non-creepy experience. And while he had 4 times the amount of stuff, it took us about 1/4 the time to get him fitted there as it took me at Rodolfo's. read more

Rodolfo is AWESOME! He's practically a magician when it comes to altering clothes. I've been going to Rodolfo for several years - but I've also tried other tailors - and Rodolfo is still THE BEST! I buy a lot of jeans, and Rodolfo can let them out, take them in, alter the hem - and he can keep the original hem without simply rolling it up (the way some others do). I have been a customer of Rodolfo's for nearly a decade now, and have followed him as he has moved throughout the Copley area. Rodolfo is extremely friendly, dependable, and a great tailor as well. Rodolfo has saved me thousands of dollars throughout the time I have been seeing him. Below are a few examples: -Rodolfo was able to alter 4 $150+ pairs of jeans after I dropped 2 waist sizes. I was going to just donate them (assuming nothing could be done) but he was able to take in the waist and make them fit better than ever. -I brought in a brand new suit I has just bought in Copley, and Rodolfo was honest with me that it was a poor cut/style for my body type. He could have easily charged me over a hundred dollars to "make it work", but he was honest and taught me what to look for in a suit for my build. I was able to return the suit, and now know what to look for in a good suit. -When tailoring jeans, he is honest about when to keep the original hem, or when he can make it look similar for less $. -If I ever have an issue with a garment he tailored, I can bring it back to him and he has often times re-altered at a reasonable (when I am the reason for the alteration e..g weight gain/loss), or no cost (when I want to make minor changes). -He even helped me realize that two "identical" suits from the manufacturer actually had different widths in areas of the pants. This explained why one fit well, and the other so poorly. I was then able to contact the manufacturer for a refund. Rodolfo has also been extremely responsive to my deadlines, even when unreasonable: -Same-hour alterations on a suit I needed for a big meeting -Same-day alterations on jeans I wanted for vacation If you are going to visit Rodolfo, I have a few suggestions: -Bring the shoes, shirts, socks, etc. that you will wear with the tailored garment. This ensures proper alterations, especially with the break of pants/jeans. -Take his advice - He will be honest about your options and his recommendation. I have never been led astray be his advice. -Bring cash, as he does not take credit cards. I continue to move further away from Copley, but I continue to go to Rodolfo for all of my tailoring needs. I recommend him highly for any tailoring needs you might have. read more
