I brought pants pack because they didn't measure correctly and were still too long - $35 a hem for each - Antonio (not Vinnie, he has retired) said that's the price because it's a wide hem. Fine, no problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also brought a blouse weeks ago that was too deep of a v neck and wanted a small lace patch, in the v part, very small, maybe 3 inches. I told him to let me know the price before he does anything. He agreed. Said he was buying the fabric from Amazon because he needed it anyway and would call me. I never got a call[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I go to pick up the pants and ask about the blouse. He had already fixed it so I'm thinking $5, $10 the most. I ask him how much, I never even mentioned that he was supposed to call before doing anything. He says $25! I was shocked! For that small 3 inch triangular strip of lace. Total robbery! When he saw my shock he goes "$20". I said nope. Then he says then I'm charging you for the pants - I said you already charged me $35 each for the pants that you didn't do correctly the first time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I said remove that piece I don't want it and he puts it in my bag and said "I hope the money makes you happy" and don't come again. You bet your ass I'm never coming again[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I said Vinnie would be horrified at how you rob people. Unbelievable! I've had some pants hemmed here at $10 a pop. Nothing too complicated but he does a great job and is quick about it. My friend is seriously here every freakin day getting something tailored, hemmed, adjusted and he makes her infinitely happy. It's pretty much just him and his one sidekick in this teensy little place. He'll tell you if he thinks your dress is fabulous, and he will also tell you if it's fugly. Vinnie is an honest guy, and treated me very fairly when I went in to have a two piece suit tailored. When I asked him if he thought my jacket was too long and had to be shortened, he straightforwardly told me that he thought it looked fine on me. I would expect your average tailor to encourage you to get extra work done in order to make more money. Vinnie isn't your average tailor. I had the pants hemmed and jacket brought in around the waist for $50 ($15 for the pants and $35 for the jacket, cash or check only). The end product fit perfectly. I will be going to Vinnie until he decides to retire! read more

I found him to be petty and void of any sense of customer service. He has a relationship with a clothier -- someone who sends him a lot of business. There was an error on the clothier's part resulting in work that had to be done again. (He also tried to suggest the error was from a dry cleaner which was just plain silly.) He made me pay $20 to redo the work I had already paid for but was that done wrong and told me it was up to me to get reimbursed from clothier. To keep a wronged customer happy, I would have thought he could work out a measly $20 with the clothier, again someone with whom he seems to have a profitable partnership. I had brought a suit to have altered but given is attitude I'm never giving him any business. read more

Went to pick up three pairs of slacks to be hemmed and he stated that it would be $12.... picked them up and he charged a lot more and when I informed him the price difference he said I was crazy. He argued with me and told me to leave and not come back. I will plan on that!! It's cash only and he makes up the prices as he wants. read more

Vinnie did an amazing job! I came in to get 2 dresses altered, as well as pants hemmed. Not only was he able to get everything done in five days, but the quality of his work was amazing. Vinnie did a great job hemming all 4 of my blue jeans. I needed to take off about 2-3 inches on each. He charges $12 per pair and they were able for pick up 3 days later. He was very polite and considerate. He showed me what he thought but said that if I preferred it a little baggy he'll do whatever I wanted, so I had him add a little more length cause of the way I like it. His location is a little hard to find, his store front is actually inside an office building and up some stairs. read more

Even though I couldn't pick-up the blazer that was supposed to be ready on Monday thanks to Vinnie's being closed, Vinnie's was open on Tuesday and I picked it up along with the items due on Tuesday anyway. 10 out of 10! Vinnie is amazing. New to Boston, I had read the good reviews on Yelp and decided to trust him with my expensive suit skirt that was too big around the waist and bum. A week after pinning it all together in a very polite manner, he presented me with my new skirt - it was perfect, you would have never known it wasn't brand new. I thought he was reasonably priced - $34 for serious shaping of a skirt, but have nothing to compare. The building is a little interesting and his shop not the most glamorous of places but I would never go anywhere else. read more

I brought Vinnie 3 pairs of wool trousers to be hemmed, and when I got them back, one was hemmed properly and the other two had gaps in the stitching of the hem, and what stitching there was, was loose. So I brought them back and showed him. He said nothing, took the pants from me and told me to pick them up on Friday. It was Monday. Five days to stitch two hems, after he botched the first try? No apology, or any acknowledgement of the mistake. I picked up the pants on Friday and had them dry cleaned. The next week, I'm wearing one of those pairs, and notice the hem to again have gaps and loose stitching to the point where I wonder if he even touched them at all. I couldn't believe it. I brought them back, less pleased this time. He repaired the hem while I waited, to his credit, without my asking. Still though, no apology of any sort. In fact, when finished, he handed me the pants without a word. In my experience, his work is sub-standard. How challenging is a hem? Some people have had better experiences, but mine was terrible. I will never return and admonish everyone to think twice before giving this guy your business. You may regret, as I do. read more

He's very friendly (I have run into grouchy tailors before...) and the great work he did was very reasonably priced. I want to add that although my needs were pretty straightforward, when I was there last time a young woman was trying on a very highly-engineered dress that he'd done some work on for her and she shouted from the dressing room "Vinnie, you're a miracle worker!" I brought in dress to be hemmed. It was a single layer thick jersey, no lining, and cost $55 since it was a long dress and considered to be a gown. I thought this was pricey, but am used to paying city prices, plus this is a professional tailor and not just some lady from a dry cleaner, plus Vinnie was super nice and discounted it from $75, the normal price for a gown, so I thought ok fine. I tried on the dress for a sec to quickly check the length and rushed out during my lunch hour. Now that I've taken a better look, I am SO disappointed, it looks like one of my 7th grade home ec projects. The stitching is super uneven, doesn't line up, and there is weird puckering going on - I uploaded a picture so you can see for yourself. Not only was it not worth $55, it completely cheapens the dress. I am really upset but can't do anything about it now since my event is tomorrow. Maybe Vinnie had an inexperienced helper do this one instead of doing it himself? I've got a dress shirt that's being shortened and a pair of pants that needs one hem fixed which I haven't picked up yet, so hopefully those aren't ruined as well. I'll update once I get them back. I'd give them one star if I didn't think Vinnie seemed like such a nice guy. read more

If I could give Vinnie the Tailor more stars than five, I would have. I have been going to him for the last seven years and send all my friends and co-workers there. Vinnie's service is impeccable. He always provides an honest opinion, and considering the quality of his work, his prices are more than reasonable. Today I sent my husband with brand new two suits to get Vinnie's opinion on the fit and get the necessary alterations done. My husband was very concerned, thinking that no tailor will ever tell him that the suits looked good, even if they did, simply to get business. Vinnie looked at them and happily stated that they looked perfect. Think about that - a tailor who sends away a customer because he is honest! I also would like to say that I have had quite elaborate work done on designer suits, dresses, leather jackets and evening gowns and always walked out happy. Vinnie is the best. I am on the petite side when it comes to clothing and finding business suits that fit me is nearly impossible. This means that i have to get everything tailored. Vinnie and his team are amazing not only do they do a wonderful job with taking in pants and jackets but i have even taken a few dresses there that didn't fit right. They were fixed perfectly! The best part about Vinnie - my boss ripped a giant whole in his suit pants one afternoon before a client meeting. I sent him to Vinnie to get the pants fixed. Not only did Vinnie and/or his team fix them in about 20min but he didn't charge for it. My boss now also takes his tailoring to here as well! I highly recommend this place!
