I came here when I was visiting Ohio for the first time ever. I enjoyed my visit and I enjoyed the eateries. At Rockne's specifically, the food was tasted good, as well as the service. They had free cookies just waiting for you and we the bar seating was pretty open; so the wait was not long at all. The only thing that got me was the SIZE of my salad. I probably could have fed a four person family with the portion I got. For some, however, this would be a positive--which is fine with me, to each his own. They had a ton of selection in regards to the food, similar to a Chili's, but I think a better selection (as I don't really enjoy Chili's). Our visit on 2/11/12 was during the busiest part of Saturday - 1pm. We waited 5 minutes for seating of our choice. I had their new specialty - Grilled Portobello Mushroom Veggie Sandwich which is a must order for anyone who likes veggie sandwiches. Sandwich is excellent but a little messy so use a knife and fork. The side of dipping sauce gave the whole sandwich it's zing. I shared a basket of fries that tasted like 'fair fries' with ketchup and vinegar; great taste and not dripping with grease. The portions are large for the price. They offer both Pepsi and Coke products, a definate plus for soda drinkers. Our waitress was wonderful. She kept our beverages filled and never asked if we wanted a refill, she just brought them. She was knowledgable of the menu items and offered suggestions. The 5 of us tried something new at her suggestion and we weren't disappointed. Two sandwiches, one basket of fries, and soda drinks for two, our bill was $20.00 tax included. The restaurant is family friendly, offers table and booth seating, and the bar is in a separate room. There are many flat screen tv's mounted to the walls throughout the whole restaurant. I have visited this restaurant many times in the last 6 years. The food has always been great but the service wasn't always as good as it was today. The bathrooms are clean and everything is automated so you don't have to touch any fixtures. If you're going out to dinner with friends Rockne's is definately a place to consider. Rockne's is a small chain centered around the Cleveland area. They serve classic American food - fries, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The staff here is friendly and attentive. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and quickly seated. Our server was very prompt and kept our drinks full throughout our visit. I was mostly impressed that she got everyone's order correct since we each made alterations to our dishes as listed on the menu. The food here is average. Nothing too impressive; however, the portions are large and the prices are fairly cheap. One thing that sets Rockne's apart from its peers is the large selection of salads on the menu. While most similar places offer three or four salads, Rockne's has ten! One area I would like to see improvement is in their French fries. They are thin sliced fries that are full of oil and soggy They taste and look as if they were dropped in warm oil and then the heat turned up causing them to soak up the oil instead of frying and getting crispy. Another positive point to Rockne's is there are lots of TVs, making it a good spot to watch the game. Me and my wife have ate at restaurants in many states and countries, so we have had good meals , great meals and not so good meals and I would have to rate this meal mediocre at best . The burgers were wafer thin and sorta greasy but at least we there was plenty of lettuce to make up for the lack of meat . Wife and I tried Rockne's out this afternoon after finding out our favorite restaurants in Wooster were closed on Labor Day. We shared their French fries covered with Cheddar cheese and bacon. I had their large Southern Poboy, which is shredded pork with a sweet barbecue sauce and topped with slaw on a hoggie bun. The wife had their quesadilla and a bowl of their French Onion Soup. Overall the food was pretty good. My barbecue was very good, but more then I could eat. The French Fries were good. The wife's quesadilla was good, and her soup just ok, average. How did we rate Rockne's? My food gets a solid 4, the wife's a 3. The fries a 4. The facility gets a 5, the service gets a 5, the value a 4, and overall we gave our Rockne's visit a solid 4. Will we go back to Rockne's? Sure will give it another try! I'm going to try their Rubin on our next visit, and a plate of their hand cut fries. read more

Tried a "Terminator" sandwich on my first visit. Almost as though they were trying to emulate Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh -- good, very good, but not on par with Primantis. The restaurant itself is a somewhat of a local legend, but I think that the newer locations lack the character of some of the originals -- seem more "chain like" and less of a college dive. Picked up 2 salads to go and both were full of rotten lettuce and ice cold unflavored chicken and about 3 cubes of cheese on each salad. I through it away. You should be ashamed of serving that. I used to love this place when they first opened but over the years the food has gone down every year. The terminator used to be served on a fabulous bun not to big not to small. Now it is served on this huge dry flavorless white bread bun. It is so big that the meat is about a 1/4 inch thick. But heck they give you 2# of over cooked French Fries. You can just tell they have been marking budget cuts over the years. Try rising the prices a little instead of letting the food quality drop. read more

I normally don't go out of my way to review a "chain" type of restaurant. I made an exception here because it was so bad. FIrst of all the restaurant was overly dirty - looks like a dive but without the charm. The food was disgusting, my fish and chips were so bad I could not eat them. My wife got a salad and all the lettuce looked limp and old. My sons meal he ordered off the kids menu I would not allow him to eat. The service was slow and very unfriendly. Haven't been here in quite some time but it was a convenient location for a lunch get together. Service was good and Kayla did a good job of taking care of us. She didn't check before hand and brought us 1 check which needed to be separated but that was the only issue at all with service. Lunch was delivered quickly and she kept our drinks refilled. I had the Steak Salad which was good and cooked correctly. The only reason for the 3 star rating was that I felt that the $15.29 price for lunch with the salad and iced tea didn't quite match the perceived value. read more

Perhaps I had misguided expectations, but we went to Rockne's yesterday after a recommendation. I just got a burger and fries. The burger was dreadfully greasy, but tasted average and was edible. The mountain of fries served with my burger, in my opinion, were altogether dreadful. They were some of the greasiest I've ever had and unpleasant to look at (sadly I did not take a picture, but I was taken aback by the presentation of a mountain of greasy, floppy fries served next to a burger that looked tiny even though it was a normal size).
