Started off with the Nachos Grande with beef as the appetizer... always a good choice if you love nachos, beef, beans, and cheese. Max the Knife is like the Daddy to McDonald's Big Mac. This thing is massively delicious... emphasis on massive. The Max the Knife doesn't come with a side. I added mashed potatoes with gravy. The best way to describe Rocknes is an Irish style pub where you can celebrate with friends or perfect location for a date. One of the restaurants I've been wanting to try since my family moved to Ohio is Rockne's. When my daughter came home from college for spring break, we decided to have a family night out and chose Rockne's Pub in North Canton. The décor gave off an old-school, Cheers-like vibe that felt both cozy and family-friendly. Our server was also very friendly and provided great customer service throughout the visit. As for the food, we had a mix of experiences. My wife ordered the Greek Gyro along with both the lobster bisque and cheddar broccoli soup. Unfortunately, she didn't enjoy either soup--she said the lobster bisque tasted sour, and the cheddar broccoli soup was bland and lacked flavor. I ordered the grilled Reuben sandwich, which came piled high with hot corned beef on rye, topped with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and their house Reuben dressing. It was absolutely delicious--easily one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. My son had the Mini Max Burger, a double-decker with two beef patties, melted cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and their specialty sauce. He loved it and said it was really tasty. My daughter ordered the baked penne pasta with meat sauce and a cheese blend, and she said it was very flavorful as well. We were greeted with a smiling hostess and immediately seated. The menus, yes, plural, are a little overwhelming. Our sever arrived quickly. I ordered one of the specials- ravioli & shrimp in a garlic cream sauce and side salad. The salad was so fresh! With crisp greens, tomatoes, croutons and cheese. The Italian dressing was delicious. The atmosphere is nice the place can be a bit busy sometimes especially weekends there might be a small wait but totally worth it. The buns were grilled which was tasty. The fries were good, but I would have preferred more crispy ones. Drank a Blue Moon draft while I ate my sliders. They went well together. Both times we have arrived more than an hour before closing time. Both times we were told we had to leave. We have been patrons of your restaurant since you opened in both Akron and Canton. We drive a half hour to come eat there and hit your restaurant AT LEAST twice a month if not more. Tonight, we were trying to come out for a nice meal with my elderly mother. We confirmed that your website was correct about the "special hours" by looking at the sign hanging in the door. When we walked in, we were ignored for a good five minutes. Then finally, a server came over and told us the restaurant decided to close early and we could just come tomorrow. No, we cannot come tomorrow. I work over an hour away from canton, and WHY would I risk driving all that way only to be turned away again?!!!! This is not the fault of your server, but your management. Your restaurant in Canton is being poorly managed and you are losing customers that have always tipped well over what is expected. They've always had such amazing burgers and I remember their signature and gigantic burger Max the Knife. I wasn't ready for a burger feast so I had the mini Max which is only slightly mini. It's two huge burger patties with cheese, lettuce and their special sauce. This mini burger was definitely filling and accompanied with a side of onion rings it made for a great lunch. The place was packed, but our waitress was amazing, very attentive and brought refills or other items before we even thought of asking. Very refreshing. I'm so sorry to leave a dissatisfied review, but would like Rockne's to hear a review to enhance service. Today, I checked this establishment out because I had a co- worker who stated they liked the French Onion Soup. So, there were 3 sizes and I chose the bowl; which may have not been a good idea. This bowl arrived with 2 square slices sitting on top of the soup broth un melted. The croutons were tasty, but the soup and onions were mediocre at best. I didn't finish the bowl and left it with a half bowl of onions left. As a pescatarian, and o Lu eating seafood, my options were limited and I ordered the Salmon Dinner with broccoli and mash potatoes. The menu stated green beans and rice pilaf but the server steered me towards the mash and broccoli and I see why. It was literally the bottom of the barrel. Watered down veggies, which were frozen and the mash came with a brown color and presented with a burnt bottom of the potatoes. Times are hard and I still tipped appropriately. My daughter and wife's meal was lack luster, so unfortunately there will never be a return visit but hoping this review helps. read more
