I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. We went for the weekend buffet. Some of the food was so dried out that it was unrecognizable. What I did get, wasn't even hot. It's a miracle we didn't get food poisoning. There was a pot of something near the desserts that was brown and separated. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be chocolate sauce or a soup. The website said the food was made from scratch. That was not the case. Most if not all of it was heat and eat or canned. There were box cake mixes I could see from the open kitchen door. If I wanted something like that, I could just swing by Walmart. The cold salad section had different foods mixed in like customers had used the same spoon for different dishes. On our way to the state park, husband and I stopped for breakfast. Our server was very pleasant. The food was just so-so. We ordered fried eggs, hashbrowns, very well-done bacon and toast/biscuit. The eggs were cooked to our orders. Bacon was still limp and fatty. The hashbrowns should have been cooked longer to provide a nice crunch. Toast was fine but the biscuit was just ok. The very reasonably priced meals are good values, considering the portion sizes. My lunch Patty Melt was satisfactory: generous sprinkles of salt and pepper improved what seemed like unseasoned beef. The house-made chips were mostly crispy without being burnt. A cheeseburger was also generous: 1/3 lb. Instead of gouging their captive audience, they are sliding them some deals! I got a cheeseburger with no bun, a choice of 5 cheeses and how I want my burger dressed, and cheese fries and lentil soup for $8. Yeah $8. Did I stutter?? Lol, I sound so tough and mean! *the office* When the cashier told me the total, i burst out laughing and asked her, was she sure? Did she ring AAALL that up? Post COVID-19 review: Ample spacing between tables. All employees wore masks. Very clean restrooms. Felt comfortable eating here. NOW, on to the FOOD! I ordered breakfast (of course!) and it was excellent. I like my bacon very crispy and always order it that way, but some cooks either ignore the request, or think they know better than me what I really want. This cook gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and I truly appreciate that! Eggs were cooked to perfection, the amount of hash browns was NOT overwhelming, and the BISCUIT... Out. of. this. WORLD! Home cooked, fresh, friendly & clean... those aren't words you often use when describing a place right off the highway that isn't a chain, but they all fit for this one! We were driving home from a very long trip & thanks to Yelp we came across this place. I'm so glad we did. If I ever make it back their way, I would DEFINITELY stop here again! We rode here on the motorcycle today with 4 other people on the recommendation from another biker. Oh course we took the back roads and not the interstate. We were pleasantly surprised especially when they told us about the buffet. We all ordered it and it was so good! Juicy fried chicken, smoked bbq ribs, twice baked mashed potatoes, salad bar, veggies, great homemade cinnamon rolls and desserts! Needless to say, we were completely full and satisfied. My husband and I always go to the Rocking Chair when we go on fishing trips. It's a big place but has the feel of a small town diner. There's always a friendly greeting when you walk in the door. They have a good buffet on weekends but this last time was during the week so we ordered off the menu. My husband had a pork chop, mashed potatoes and gravy, slaw, and cornbread. I opted for breakfast and got French toast, bacon, and hashed Browns. Everything was good as always. We've never had a bad meal there. Our waitress did a great job. Highly recommend! read more

This at one time was an outstanding diner with great food. How have they changed. Canned vegetables and a so so cinnamon roll will get you one star. I gave it two stars due to the waitress who has been there for years. She was a gem. The Sunday buffet was $10.49 and it was a sad assortment of canned foods and delicious fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were real and fantastic. I often wonder what happened to this place. I've stopped here periodically over the years and I'm sorry to say this was more than likely my last go round. Great spot! It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it's big and open and nicely decorated. Even the restrooms were spotlessly clean. We had burgers and fries and they were really good. Tried the fried mushrooms app and it was very good. My husband had the half-order of ribs and the portion was huge and he said the meat was tender and tasty. We ordered an apple cobbler to go and a cinnamon roll for the morning. It was mammoth! Vickie was our waitress and she was so friendly and helpful with choosing what to get. We were told to check out this place by a local. Inside, it's a very homey feeling. Everyone seems to know each other, and the waitresses are wonderful. I ordered an omelette with grits, and my husband got pancakes and bacon. The food was so freaking good. The restaurant itself is enormous. We were in the first room, once you walk in, but the bathrooms are located past the registers in a completely different room twice the size. The food was cheap.
