I've always found Rocco's to be a good place to go, but some of my friends seem to have an almost fanatical devotion to the place. The pizza and cheesesteaks are pretty much always good, and not terribly expensive. They have a decent selection of beer as well. Sometimes it does get a bit crowded. read more

I work down the street. I was told Rocco's is THE place to go for pizza. I was disappointed. I have even tried the more creative kinds - Chicken BBQ, Margarita, Eggplant. The food is hit or miss. For example, sometimes the buffalo chicken pizza is delicious, and last time, it had chicken bones in it. Not great. My biggest issue, however, is that the staff is also hit or miss. Maybe the person helping you will be kind and courteous, or maybe there will be people shooting you dirty looks and ignoring you for ten minutes while you attempt to pick up your food. I sort of feel bad even writing this, like I am betraying an old friend, but sadly this is the current state of affairs with this place. I'd been eating here for over 20 years growing up before I moved and now that I am back in the area after 10 years away I'll admit the food doesn't stand up as the best compared to the other options in the area (you can't go anywhere in this area without finding a decent pizza and hoagie shop). Where this place really has gone downhill is the service. Just about every takeout order my family and I have had over the past year or so has at least something wrong with them, and today was no exception. My dad called in an order for 20 wings for the game was told on the phone "20 minutes" and when he showed up 30 minutes later he was told "they'll be done in a few minutes". After waiting for a few minutes they said "here, take this order if you don't want to wait", so they ostensibly gave my dad somebody else's order of wings (I wonder if that customer got their order ever?). My dad trusted it was his order of 20 wings (big mistake) but when he got here and we opened them up it was an order of only 9 wings - hardly enough for group to watch the Eagles, let alone 11 wings short of what he paid for. This has been a recurring event as of late for food that really doesn't beat out its competition. I realize gameday is a busy day and maybe they could have been short staffed, but that doesn't explain the repeat offenses in the off season. Check out other places in the area, most of which have a better beer selection as well, the food just isn't any better than anywhere else while those other places actually do provide good service and accurate order fulfillment. read more

To update - I would say the trend of being hit or miss has increased with more misses than hits. We ordered take out and by the time we were home (short drive) the pizza was cold... This was after waiting some time for them to prepare it in the store. Was it even hot? What were we waiting for if this was not a fresh pizza? This is our go to place for ordering out. Pizza, hoagies, cheese steaks are good. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is their gluten free pizza. I ordered this and it was white with cheese. It only comes small which is 12 inches. It was a hard piece of cardboard with a slim layer of cheese. Well if you are gluten sensitive or have celiacs disease do NOT order this. There is cross contamination and I can tell you a friend of mine saw them using the same board as their regular pizza so flour touched it. I was very sick all night, I won't tell you the gory details but no sleep, lots of pain, inflammation. I will never recommend their gluten free pizza and need to warn others. This could put a Celiac in the hospital. So do NOT order anything gluten free from them. It's going to take me days to recover. It sure wasn't worth it or the huge price. You live and learn and thank God I will live. And I did learn they don't take precautions!!! read more

This place is definitely not deserving of 4/5 stars on average , today I ordered 20 mild wings , a large margarita pizza, and a supreme hoagie for the superbowl game and was very disappointed. First off, the wings were spicy, secondly the brick oven pizza was stone cold and was not fresh at all, tasted like it was made the day prior. The hoagie was mediocre, the cheese was kinda soggy and was overall not appetizing. They also charge $1.50 for ranch dressing for their buffalo wings. I'm Italian and was raised around a lot of good food, so I reserve the right to make a claim when I think food is exceptional. What makes food and restaurants exceptional? 1) Do they actually make their own food? How many pizza/take out restaurants do you know of who actually MAKE their own meatballs, and do you know the difference? Well I do, and and Rocco's makes their own, but you would need to know the difference between a homemade meatball and a frozen one to make a judgment here 2) How is the sauce? I grew-up with homemade sauce and I know what that tastes like too. Just get a dish of pasta with red sauce and meatballs and if you know the real deal in Italian food, you will understand. 3) How are the owners and the service? The owners couldn't be more humble and the service could not be friendlier. Melissa has remembered everything we have ordered since the first time we were there, in fact, we don't even have to ask. Frank and Patty always take time to say hello, even when they are extremely busy (which is quite often, another sign of a great place). Now about the pizza...what kind do like? They offer quite a variety of pizza and take the time to use different sauces on each type. Not sure if I know of another pizza restaurant who cares about their product enough to do this. People come from afar to order the Taco pizza (I can't quite explain it but it is addicting). However, may favorite has become the "Red Top". I highly recommend this! I grew up in Delaware County near a famous pizza place who makes pizza this way (cheese on bottom, sauce on top) but Rocco's blows it away! Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention their Cheesesteaks. It is hard to find a good cheesesteak in the suburbs. Those who claim to have the "best", don't even come close. The meat they use is so tender and the bread (which is key) is perfect. Most of the time we have a hard time choosing what to order here so we get a variety of food and the bill is still half of what it would cost in a "good" Italian restaurant. Looks like some of the reviews are about take-out and the food being cold. Let's be fair here - that can happen occasionally if a place is super busy and you don't pick it up in time. But let's rate the food on the food itself. Giving the place 2 stars if your pizza isn't hot when you get home? Really? Ok everyone has the right to their opinion but now you have mine. Rocco's is tops! Great tasting food, wonderful service, humble owners and affordable prices. read more

Used to be pretty good. Has now descended into the morass. Ordered veal picatta with penne and a salad with NO onions. Had to repeat this 4 or 5 times to the order taker who I don't believe was proficient in English. Enlisted the help of a second employee to confirm. After waiting an inordinate amount of time I went and inquired about the salad as I didn't want everything at once. Eventually salad appeared and was full of onions (see above). Had them make another. One small piece of bread with NO butter came with. Finally the entree came. It was chicken picatta with fettuchini (again see above). At this point I gave up and just ate it. They are NOT getting another chance. No apologies were forthcoming from the kitchen. read more
