Outstanding food, fantastic service and great atmosphere. Servers are extremely accommodating. One of the best steaks I've ever had.

I pass by this restaurant all the time when I am on my way home from the gym. I always see the outdoor seating packed, so I thought I would try the food out. Unfortunately, the place is beautiful on the outside, but that's about as far as the good things go. When you arrive, you are required to do valet parking. The food here is hit or miss. I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone, nor will I be back. We made the mistake of sitting outside for our 4:15 PM reservation. We were also told that there was an hour-and-a-half limit to our stay. First off, the waitress Heather was inattentive for the entire duration of our meal. Although we were told that there was a 1.5 hour time limit, we ended up being there for close to 2 hours, due to the inattentiveness of the waitress and the fact that the appetizer took 1 hour to arrive, and then the food took another hour to arrive. And it wasn't even worth the wait in the end! Well, the Creole shrimp appetizer was really good, and so was the seafood boil... They were both specials for the evening. All of the other food was not so good. I asked Heather for a Sprite more than 3 times before I got it, 45 minutes later. I had to ask another waiter for the drink, and he said he would remind her! Absolutely ridiculous. For the entrées, as mentioned, the seafood boil was great, and was also the most expensive item of the night at $39. We also got the New England lobster roll and the crispy chipotle chicken sandwich. The New England lobster roll was okay. It wasn't anything amazing or special for the $26 that it cost. Now, on to the crispy chipotle chicken sandwich, which was the worst thing I ate tonight and probably the worst thing I ate in months. It was absolutely the worst chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life. I'm really not sure how it made its way onto the menu. The apple slaw combined with the honey-chipotle glaze was sweet in a disgusting way. The entire thing was just a nightmare visually; as you can see from the pictures, the apple slaw looks like straight up worms. Ewww. Then comes the poor customer service. Our party of three each tried a tiny bite of the chicken sandwhich and all of us hated it and no one wanted to eat it. We expressed this to Heather, who merely said "sorry" and still charged us for it on the bill. $14 for something we did not enjoy and did not eat? No thanks. So, I had to go through two other employees and finally make my way to the manager, who took the chicken sandwich off the bill. I should not have had to go through two employees and the manager to have the sandwich taken off the bill. It should have immediately been taken off when I expressed to Heather that NONE of us wanted it and it was awful. Poor customer service is a killer for restaurants. I've eaten at much fancier restaurants where a $70 dish was taken off the bill right away because it was not good... Customer service done right in that case. But in this case, they lost a customer for life. Bad food AND bad customer service? I won't be back. read more

My neighbor did me a favor so I wanted to repay him and have been craving a steak. I had not been here in awhile so I thought it would be a good choice. First, many of the menu items were not available. So we got 12 oz. filets. Despite being charged for 12 oz filets, mine was definitely 8 oz and my neighbors was maybe 10 oz at best. We got our steaks which were prepared appropriately which is why I gave 2 stars vs. one and the ambience is nice. Our waiter was good, but the rest of the service was terrible. They kept trying to take our plates away while still eating. I got a baked potato with my steak. Our waiter placed the accouterments on the table, but they were picked up before our food was delivered. Then they also took my fork. Several times during our meal they interrupted our conversation to clear an empty bread plate. It was like the staff was receiving commission for how many items they brought back. I should note it was not late and the restaurant was still busy. I cannot wait until the new steak house opens next year. read more

Overall I'd say that Rocco's is marginally above average for the type of restaurant it is and a bit overpriced. This would typically be a 4/5 for us. Food was good enough and our waiter Bill was excellent, cracked jokes and was very attentive! The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because there was a party in a separate room that really should have been in a private room with the doors closed. I understand that this isn't necessarily the restaurant's fault, however several people in my section were visibly upset by the commotion and some even complained to the restaurant with nothing being done to quiet the other party. At the end of the day, it's the restaurant's responsibility to maintain an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone dining there and there's no reason why one group should be able to disrupt so many people's nights. Again, this was likely an isolated experience and I want to reiterate that the food was good and service was great. The 1 star demerit comes solely from the restaurant's inability to quiet down a very disruptive party, which is something you likely won't experience most nights out so shouldn't be a major concern. With that being said, I'd definitely recommend trying Rocco's. I will try again on another night and adjust my rating accordingly assuming my luck of the draw is better! read more

Decided to check out the outdoor dining at Roccos for our anniversary and first night out after quarantine. We made reservations for 5:30 pm and was seated as soon as we arrived. We were there for about an hour and a half and the drinks and the food did not stop coming. Everything that we ate was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was ever better. We know that the restaurants are dealing with lots of new restrictions and I will say this place handled it very well. We would highly recommend this place to anyone and we will certainly be back. read more

On our way to the next location for work, we stopped by this place for lunch. Menu is a bit on the pricey side, but has some hidden goodies on there. The waiter was knowledgeable and funny. Took our orders promptly. I ordered the Prime Burger (medium-well) with the fries. It has a mixture of different meats, shirt rib, brisket, ground chuck, with copper sharp cheese, on a soft bun. The food took a bit to come out which is good since it's not fast food. The burger was delicious! So delicious that I'm glad I don't live here because I'm sure I'd eat here more often just for the burger lol. But really good, flavorful and I even liked the tomato which I normally have removed from burgers, it tasted pretty fresh. All in all for the price it was a really good choice of restaurant for us, I'll be taking half of the burger home or to the hotel when I go. The location has been around for around 200 years. The hostess said 500 years lol she didn't mean it she wasn't sure but that's ok, she was nice. The waiter came back and wrapped the remainder of my burger for me and put in a bag. Service was great, food was better and I'd definitely recommend people to stop by if your in town. read more

Food and atmosphere are wonderful. I recommend the tomahawk steak, and raw oysters but I have not had anything bad here. The crispy flatbreads that they provide courtesy are wonderful as well. I would give a five star review if it were not for the prices and incredibly bland Bearnaise sauce. read more

First time here. Came to celebrate my cousin's birthday. She loves to eat in NYC and enjoys fine dining. Rocco's did not disappoint! Everything was hot and delicious! My cousin ordered the salmon special and I had the 8 oz filet mignon. Our waiter Eric recommended getting the filet medium rare. I added two additional accompaniments to my filet. Oscar, which was lump crab with asparagus and bearnaise sauce, and two additional crab cakes. We also had a side Caesar salad that was one of the best I ever had. My filet was so tender that it felt like it was going to melt in my mouth. Only had one other filet like that and it was at Del Friscos in Philadelphia. After reading some negative reviews I was hoping that those were some isolated incidents. I would rate my experience tonight at 110%! We sat in the enclosed front porch and it did not have any musty smell as someone had commented in a review. Everything was clean and all the staff were very friendly from the valet boy, the hostess, the people helping to clear our table and especially our waiter Eric. We really enjoyed listening to the live piano player in the background. We both ordered the chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert. Eric brought a slice out with two candles on it and those around sand Happy Birthday to my cousin. Our cheesecake was so fresh. I was really excited to try this place and was not let down. I loved the decor and old hotel feel. Dimmed lighting and quiet so you could hear yourself think. The valet was a nice kid respectful and complimented us. Seemed happy to be there. The 2 stars is lost because the waiter we had was horrible. I actually never have gotten so annoyed at a server before. There was 8 other waiters,food runners and bus boys I don't know why this bartender was taking orders. We ordered Arnold palmers to start, I took a sip and almost throw up... there was vodka in it. My friend obviously had the same reaction but worse for him he has been sober for 9 years. The waiter with a blank face expression on his face said "you guys looked like you drink." I kid you not. We ordered oysters and bacon for our apps. The oysters were really good and fresh. The bacon ... never came, by the time this guy wandered back so we could tell him the runner was bringing our entrees ... no big deal. The meals came with a generous sized Caesar salad which I think is really great. Fresh, tasted the anchovy (huge plus for me) and didn't taste like it came out of a bottles. I ordered the New York strip medium rare. It was not... it was well done. I let that slide as well because the steak was charred nice had great flavor. The asparagus were really good and cooked over the grill. My friend ordered the sea bass and he seemed to enjoy it. Once again I had to ask the bus woman where our friend was because he was no where to be found. For dessert we ordered a crème brûlée , espresso , and a cappuccino. The coffee came out (COLD) the rock candy didn't even melt . I'm guessing it was sitting there while he did whatever he did. The check came out... had the crème brûlée on it but never came out. Charges us for 18 oysters when we ordered 16. That was the breaking point for me and my buddy. We told him our issues and he looked at the ground and said "that damn kitchen." I stared in his face and said "I don't think it's the kitchen buddy." The food was great 5 star. The frustration caused by this bartender/ waiter was not what I planned for a Sunday out. FOOD POISONING CENTRAL my boyfriend and I went to Rocco's last night for a date night. I was so excited to try this restaurant because of all the great reviews. I drove 50 minutes just to come here and leave disappointed. The roll to my lobster was stale, so stale I ended up just eating the seafood off of it. So not worth the $25 and it was smaller than a hot dog bun. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich & got violently ill about 5 hours after we ate. It was horrible!!! Such a shame we wasted $100+ on a dinner that wasn't up to par and that made him vomit :( I would recommend going somewhere else in Newtown lots of other options! I have frequented Rocco's several times with my husband and always experienced excellent service in the bar. Even when the bar is packed at least the server behind the bar acknowledged us and said they would be a few minutes which is always acceptable. Until today. I stopped in around 5:30pm by myself (solo female patron) and there were a total of 4 patrons at the bar. The gal behind the bar in a black ponytail looked at me and then promptly ignored me until another server acknowledged me and took my order. This is not acceptable and you need to do better. Several patrons came in after me (all males or females with male companions) and were promptly acknowledged by the server in question. read more

Awesome dining experience at Rocco's. Started out at the bar where I had a few drinks while waiting for a friend. At dinner the food was excellent. The tomahawk ribeye was cooked to perfection. The lobster mac & cheese may have been the best I've had and I've had some incredible lobster mac & cheese. Service from Logan and Paige was great. They were both very helpful and accommodating. Even the guys at the valet were cool. Great all around dining experience and I will be back. I would definitely recommend Rocco's to friends and family. Keep up the great work, Guys! read more

Enjoyed dinner with my longtime friend for her birthday. Rocco's is upscale and refined dining. From the moment we arrived, the valet was attentive and kind. The hostess was immediately ready to honor our reservation. Our table was perfect and the food--delicious. Filet, mashed potatoes and asparagus were on point. I've been here twice and the first time was ok, maybe a 3.5. But after my last visit a solid 2. First the hostesses should really cover up. It's just odd to see 16-18 yr old kids dressing like they are hostesses at a a strip club. Then I ordered a $120 Wagu steak, asked for medium. First attempt was a blood rare, sent back and was still rare. The waitress said "that is our medium". Oh medium is pretty standard and to ask for a medium steak and pay $120, it better be perfect. The manager asked how things were and I said bad and can I have the check. 30 mins later I left, I was about to walk out and not pay anything for making me wait like this. Recent reviews from fellow Yelpers led me to Rocco's. I made an initial entrance and saw that the place had a glamor and borderline opulence that didn't match my factory manager attire consisting of jeans, sweater, and loafers. I made a call to the restaurant and they confirmed that dinner attire was business casual, but that I was welcome to join them for happy hour in the bar, and that worked well for me. First off, a dozen oysters from the raw bar. They were perfectly cleaned and delicious. Next I ordered a Greek Salad, and Double Split New Zealand Lamb. Here's where things got a little rough. I ordered as mentioned above and was asked if I wanted a baked potato or the vegetable of the day. Veg of the day were turnips and they sounded good, so yes, I went for those. Next up, the turnips arrived in a cool looking mini cast iron pan. Ok, where's the salad? Next, the salad comes up, which was weird but okay. The salad was excellent. Last comes the lamb, along with a beautiful and huge baked potato. Everything was delicious. So what's the problem? Not much other than there was a pretty huge waste of food (no way I was eating a half pound baked potato and a half pound of turnips). It looks like this is a newly opened reincarnation of an older establishment in Newtown. On that point, they probably have a lot of baggage from the past that they're trying to shake off. Wow! Over the top excellent. It has gotten even better since they opened a few years ago. Our dinner was perfection. This is our favorite local restaurant. Hubby ordered the pork chop. This is a must!!! It is huge, tender, juicy, and simply amazing. He couldn't even finish it. He could not decide on the choices of sauces so our sweet waitress offered to bring him two. Good thing bc the Rocco's sauce was better than the one he thought he wanted. My hubby loves their steak but the pork chop is now his new fav. I always get the salmon. The honey topping makes this so delicious. I promise next time to try something different...it's time. We started with the pot of muscles. A generous portion and such a great start. I highly recommend. They do a great job with the martinis. Nice pour and quality. Our server was excellent. Everything perfectly timed, she wanted to please, had a wonderful smile and attitude...she was great. And of course, the restaurant itself has a warm inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed by Rocco's. I've heard some good reviews and was eager to try it out when I was back visiting on the east coast, so I went in for happy hour on a weeknight to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather on the patio. This spot is dog friendly outside which is a plus. When we got there, there were many open seats, as it was early on a weeknight during happy hour (probably right around 5pm), and the hostess ignored us for a good 5 minutes and we watched as she stood at a table talking to a group while we stood around waiting to be seated. Only after being seated when our server came up to us, did we find out that the side of the bar we were sitting, happy hour was not offered. I could walk to the outside bar in about 5 steps but where I sat, no happy hour. You have to be on the opposite side of the bar or at the bar directly to get the happy hour. That makes no sense to me whatsoever as the whole point of going to a restaurant during happy hour is to get happy hour prices! Our server was friendly, nothing to report about him, but you can tell that most of the wait staff is young and definitely does not receive much training as a lot of server 101 stuff wasn't happening-orders not correct, no bread brought out right away or water, taking orders took a long time, bringing food took a long time, plates taken away before we were done, etc. I'm hopeful that if the management gives the team some better training a lot of these basics will improve. Food wise, also underwhelming. The tuna appetizer which to me does much better stacked was all smushed together in a bowl and heavily dressed which took away from the tuna itself, and the salad we ordered was also overly dressed leaving the soggy. Then after paying our bill, we thought we'd get one drink at the happy hour prices at the bar, and it took an extremely long time to get drinks and the bar was not overly crowded by any means. Not my favorite spot in town. Hopefully a lot of this is just because the restaurant is still relatively new and they can fine tune it and improve. read more

Hello! I came in tonight for my first time, it was my Mothers birthday. She ordered the special ribeye, medium rare and once it came it was medium well. We let the server know about the steak and he said it was medium rare and we said it wasn't and he said that it was a matter of opinion. We were okay with having it remade and we do work at a steak house and we're very off taken by the response. Our table ordered a bottle of wine were brought over a glass not sure if they misunderstood but planned on splitting a bottle of wine with three of us and when we mentioned we ordered a bottle of wine the response wasn't nice and as if it was our fault. The new steak came out Pittsburgh rare the second time. The atmosphere was amazing and the food we could eat was good, but the attitude and response from the server was a complete turn off based on the fact it was a beautiful and well known restaurant, I would return again with a Different server. read more

Not worth it. Sat right on time at our reservation. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Appetizers and drinks came out at the right time no waiting around. Right on cue the salad came out for my wife and I. Ok, well now plates are starting to pile up and nothing is being taken away. We start to shuffle our plates to the end of the table...still no one got the hint that they needed to be taken. Wine came out right at appetizers...okay, I wanted it with dinner as I told the waitress...still just left it in the decanter for me to pour? Food came out, and then poof, our waitress disappeared for the rest of dinner. We actually had to flag a bus boy to fill our waters and soda. 25 minutes after dinner and we still had no check, no waitress, and no help to either get a check or dessert (which we wanted but would have been well past closing in our opinion). A $200 meal should not have this bad service where we need to flag a bus boy for water. A steak house only have 2 different types of steak? It really steak house worthy (a strip either on the bone or not and a filet). No ribeye, no flat iron...ya know the basics. Hard to call a steak house when there's a small corner for a steak selection. Hard to say we will be a repeat customer, if ever. read more

Great steakhouse in newtown Boro. Great cook to order steaks and seafood. The seafood tower appetizer is wonderful including the halibut ceviche. Steaks are cooked temperature to order with a wonderful tomahawk ribeye cooked black and blue. Rocco's is one of the few restaurants in the area that can do "black and blue" and it shows. Bar is pretty standard but they do focus on local spirits where possible. read more
