Another 5 star experience. I have to wonder where all these 3 star reviews came from. Service, food, ambience decor is all great. Erica the hostess does a wonderful job and was able to fit us in as a party of 3 last minute, when someone cancelled. The restaurant was packed! It's cozy, great for any occasion. You can count on some regular dishes and the chef dishes up some great specials. You feel very welcome when you enter, everyone working there is attentive, not rushed or overbearing. We had the garlic bread which is always on the menu and some of the best I've had. We also had the mushroom soup special, the short ribs with rigatoni that were AMAZING! The salmon with mixed veg and sweet potato puree. Also the linguini and shrimp. For desert we shared the pistachio ricotta cheese cake and also the tiramisu. Another "Got to try " desert! Tonight was the first dining experience here. The ambiance is lovely and the service was very nice. The appetizers were tasty but not special. However, the 2 pasta dishes that we had were just terrible. In both dishes the pasta was terribly overcooked and people at the table commented on how mushy the pasta was. in 1 dish the pasta was almost floating in the pesto sauce. Although the food is pretty good, and the service is top notch, there's just a few things about this restaurant that bother me a bit. Most importantly, let's talk about this darn garlic bread. I've visited this restaurant with my wife twice this year. As soon as you sit down, your server will ask "can I bring some garlic bread out to get you guys started?" Now, of course the answer is always going to be yes. Who doesn't want garlic bread? However, they don't tell you that the bread is $3 per piece. Yes, per piece. Now, after you've already said yes, you will open the menu and see that garlic bread is listed as an appetizer for $3 per person. Then, a very small loaf gets delivered to your table, its sliced into about 6 very slim pieces, probably the equivalent of a normal two pieces of bread, and its very good because its slathered in garlic and butter. More on this topic later. The first time we came, my wife ordered the special pasta with seafood. Again, although it was pretty good, I was shocked when the bill came and it was $60. I suppose in these times and at byob's thats the norm? But I was very taken back and we did not order from the specials menu the following trip. The following trip, I got the filet mignon, advertised online as $32. When we got to the restaurant, the menu listed the filet mignon as $34. When the bill came, the filet mignon was $38. Did I say anything to the waiter? Nope. No one wants to be that person, the restaurant is always very quiet, so I was too embarrassed to point out the discrepancy. I ordered my filet rare, and it was served medium. Did I send it back? Again, nope. However it was good, and the veggies were flavorful. I will note, the second time we went, we again said yes to garlic bread. My wife had ordered the pasta, which was disappointingly bland. It was a bolognese ragu, which really needed some extra loving with seasoning. She asked for a little more bread to go with the pasta, I figured the menu says $3 per person, so why not get a little more? However, again very dismayed when we received our bill and were charged another $3 for her second piece of bread. $3 per person, means $3 per person. It does not say $3 per piece. So once again, pretty displeased with the bill. The extra money charged for the bread and the filet are enough to make us not go back. Plenty of other places in the area with better food and honest pricing. In this economy, there's no need to find sneaky ways to overcharge your customers. read more

I recently visited Amelia with my sisters, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience. We ordered three different dishes, including a pasta Bolognese, which I found bland and flavorless and the pasta was overcooked. My sisters, who also tasted my dish, agreed with my assessment. While I complimented the chef on the other two dishes, I mentioned the blandness of the Bolognese to our waiter. Surprisingly, he didn't apologize but said he would taste it along with the chef. A few moments later, he returned and told me that the dish was prepared to the chef's liking. I found this response irrelevant and unhelpful since I was the one eating and paying for the dish. He offered to replace it with something else, so I ordered the same dish my sister had. About ten minutes later, the chef emerged from the kitchen and gave us a nasty glare, again without any apology. Shockingly, he gestured something towards our table that I will not mention but now he knows that I saw it. At that moment, I regretted not leaving immediately. I have never encountered such disrespectful and unprofessional behavior from a chef in response to a patron's feedback. It's part of the restaurant business to sometimes receive criticism, and it should be handled graciously. Because of the chef's behavior, I couldn't trust the replacement dish and threw the scampi in the garbage, fearing it might have been tampered with and I will dispute the charges with American Express. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I will never recommend Amelia, nor will I ever return. Despite his behavior, we still left the waiter a 20 % tip for his service. To the management: Be mindful of who you are flipping birdies to because negative feedback travels faster than positive. read more

We discovered this little gem just driving by. We were looking for a nice place to grab dinner and we found it. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. It is in a very old house with exposed ceiling beams and a lot of old wood. Very inviting atmosphere. We started with a wonderful artichoke salad and their signature creamy mushroom soup. Wonderful both. For our main courses, my wife had bow tie pasta with a very light cream and mushroom sauce, topped with sliced cherry tomatoes. Though it was a creamy dish, it was remarkably light. I had a seafood pasta with a pink cream sauce. The flavor was likewise incredibly light and soft. The pasta was also soft, fresh and delicious. The dish contained shrimp, scallop and lobster, and they added a fresh and delicate flavor to the cream sauce, not heavy or fishy at all. Dining at Amelia's s a wonderfully nourishing experience and I highly recommend it. The service is exceptional. Yes, it did take a while to get our order in as we came in during a rush, but all of that was irrelevant when compared to the wonderful welcome we received and the obsessive care we experienced throughout our meal. We felt like we were honored and cherished guests who were regulars despite it being our first time there. food was amazing, by far some of the best food we had in New Hope. The decor of the restaurant was lovely, fun and irreverent which went well with the welcoming vibe that the waitstaff exuded. We took a picture of this restaurant so we can remember it as we won't be back. In summary, we thought it was overpriced for what they deliver and the quality was just average. We were a group of 10. We were seated in a semi-private dining area just outside of the restroom, so we had the perfect view as other diners went in and out. The best of the meal was the wild mushroom soup. The rest of the meals were just okay. One of the meals - a pasta with pesto sauce - was not edible. The presentation of all of the meals left a lot to be desired - the plates looked like the food was slopped on. Just went here for the second time and once again, the food was AMAZING. Delicious authentic Italian food, debatably the best in the area. Everything was delicious from the garlic bread (a must) to the chicken. My boyfriend and I started with the garlic bread and the special salad, split their pesto pasta as our second course (seriously the best pesto I've ever had), and finished with the polo Genovese and the braised short rib. Everything was perfect. The restaurant itself is adorable. Very small and intimate, well-decorated with romantic lighting. Service is good but definitely on the slower side, which I personally enjoyed. We were able to really pace ourselves and enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. Mother of God, what an unmitigated disaster! Can I give zero stars? Arrived early for 745 resies. At around 10pm we gave up and left. During that 2+ hour period we got some bread after 1 hour. Ok things happen. Can you send someone over to apologize and give an update? NO! We were utterly ignored. So this is how you treat local New Hope customers? Around the 2 hour mark when we ask what's up, can we talk to the owner/chef? The answer from a very unapologetic waitress is "no"...he's in the kitchen "behind the line". Save the kitchen-speak, Chef is a coward...this is horrible. Walked over to Logan at 10p and somehow they were able to serve us food! You will be out of business very soon. read more

First time to Amelia had its ups and downs. The atmosphere is charming ... we were seated at a nice table toward the back. Service was 4 stars ... generally attentive with a couple of gaps. We both had the mushroom soup to start ... delicious. For entrees we each ordered a special ... seafood pasta in a blush sauce and pork osso bucco with gnocchi. The entrees were ok ... not as special as hoped. Desserts, tiramisu and cheesecake, were very good. The two features most driving our impression were value and end-of-night clean-up. The specials were billed at $46 each ... very high for what was presented. As we were one of the last tables to finish, we had to endure the staff setting up for the next day all around us as we finished our meal. It felt like we overstayed our welcome, although we did not eat slowly. I suspect the staff just wanted to leave asap. This dropped the review one star. She was extremely nice, helped answer our questions on the menu and offered great recommendations. We started off with fried calamari (excellent, the sauce was a little sweet but really good) and split the burrata/fried artichoke appetizer special. For entrees, I got the seafood special (lobster, shrimp, scallops in in a cream sauce over paparadelle) and my partner got the pesto. We didn't stay for dessert but probably will next time. We always try new restaurants and rarely ever complain. We ordered 2 soups and 2 entrees. There were only 6 tables in the restaurant. It took 40 minutes for the soup to arrive. For an entree, my husband ordered a pasta dish. He asked if a chicken breast could be added and the chef agreed. Both our dishes lacked seasoning. When the bill came I was surprised that it was $95 for 2 soups and 2 chicken dishes. They charged an additional $18 for the addition of the chicken to the pasta dish making it more than the most expensive item on the menu! 40! When we asked if it was a mistake the waiter said this is what the chef told him. We asked if he thought that seemed reasonable and although he didn't he did not think that he should have asked us. What a find! My husband and I go to New Hope a couple times a year. We like to try different spots, often off the beaten path. This quaint, welcoming and warm Italian restaurant was the highlight of our trip. The chef/owner's son was our server. His descriptions of the specials and answers to my questions were the caliber you'd expect at any 5 star Manhattan venue. I wish I had taken pix of our meals. Next time. Do not order from them through a delivery service! I placed an order today through Uber Eats, excited to try this restaurant. The delivery driver messaged at pick up and said the restaurant said my card didn't go through but that didn't make sense since it's all handled through the app and it went through successfully. The guy I spoke to at Amelia's was rude and pushy saying "you either have to give me a new card over the phone or you don't get your food." When I asked how much they had for total it didn't match what was in Uber eats because it didn't include the drivers tip or any discounts. I told them I wanted to call Uber to confirm that I should do this because it seemed like the driver was going to get screwed out of a tip that way. I did that and low and behold I was right. Uber said never to give a credit card directly to the merchant. They essentially are getting double paid then. Uber confirmed there was nothing wrong with my credit card so they called the restaurant and explained the same. Uber eventually came back to me and said there's an issue with this merchant and we're going to cancel your order and issue you a refund plus guve you extra credit for the trouble. She explained there is no way Amelia's could even see the credit card details because they don't get paid until the order is completed. Something strange and fishy is going on there OR this establishment needs trained on how this all works so they don't end up charging their customers double! read more
