Bell's Tavern was hands down the best takeout we had delivered! Everything arrived piping hot, was cooked perfectly to order, and tasted incredibly fresh. We ordered two burgers--one topped with caramelized onions, provolone, and thick-cut bacon cooked medium-rare, and the other a classic with lettuce, tomato, onion, American cheese, and bacon, also medium-rare. These burgers are thick, juicy, and clearly made with fresh beef. Both were cooked to perfection. The fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The crispy calamari, with a nice mix of rings and tentacles, was very good. It cooled off pretty quickly during delivery, so I imagine it's even better when enjoyed in the restaurant. The strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans was cooked perfectly, and the chicken Parmesan was a huge portion with two generous pieces of chicken. One thing we loved was the variety of side options--we chose mashed potatoes and cheese tortellini, and both were excellent. A shout-out to Chowhound Delivery, too. The food arrived surprisingly fast, which definitely helped everything stay hot and fresh. We'll definitely be ordering from Bell's Tavern again. Highly recommend! read more

The waitress greeted us nicely, brought us our drinks and took our order. The appetizers, then food was served by the runners. The food was excellent, hot , tasty and exceptionally good. I would have given 5 stars however after our initial waitress interaction, we never saw or heard from her again, like magic she disappeared. I got up and got out leftovers take out containers and stacked the dirty dishes. I had to tell the food runners to get our check. We wanted more drinks and desserts but were left dangling alone. Definitely a must do when you are exploring Lambertville or New Hope. Bells is an amazing family run, neighborhood gem. From the moment you walk in, to the minute you are greeted by the staff, you feel welcome, and part of the crew. The food is the star, and the specials are the way to go! I just had the most recent pork shop special, home, run! My son has the cheeseburger, which never disappoints. The bar seats are coveted, so get there early or wait. Seating at the bar will make sure you can enjoy a delicious cocktail quickly. They even freshly stuff olives with Bleu cheese (of course they do). Was looking for a warm and inviting Italian restaurant in town and after a few clicks online was brought here. The atmosphere is spectacular. An inviting bar area that feels very neighborhoody and separate dining area that sets a perfect mood for dinner. On top of it the food portions are large and our server Rosemarie was top notch. What a wonderful, cozy Italian influenced tavern in Lambertville! We were seated at a high top near the front window which was lovely. There are plenty of things to order on the menu but we wanted pasta! We ordered basic pastas - that's what we were in the mood for - Mariana Spaghetti & Pesto Fettuccine! They were delicious but a HUGE serving. We could have easily shared one entree between the two of us! So either share, bring some friends, or be prepared for leftovers! We had a small team dinner of about 8 people. Tucked away in the back of the restaurant, we had a quiet location to enjoy the dinner. The group seemed to really enjoy the food. Several plates of calamari were quickly eaten, making way for the steak special for most of the crew. I had a big bowl of linguini with marinara as it was the only vegan entree option. You enter into a large bar room with table service and the dining areas are in the back. Quaint, warm, happy, lively atmosphere with a family home feel is the overall impression. Meals are of good proportions and taste authentic. Drinks are reasonably priced and wait staff is attentive. Great neighborhood location with friendly service. The bar is great to sit around and have a couple cocktails. Chicken Parmesan was forgettable and was served on a bed of pasta with so much pasta water that the chicken got soggy and salty. Marinara sauce still lacked flavor and depth. Carbonara sauce was gloppy and the oil separated from the sauce. Grilled salmon was well cooked. Calamari was delicious and tasted fresh. Ceasar salad was good. I can never say enough great things about this neighborhood favorite. All their dishes are plentiful AND reasonably priced. American pub food from steak to burgers. We recently went there with a vegan diner who also had a shellfish allergy and they could not guarantee cross-contamination. For most, this is not an issue. The best part about this restaurant bar is that you're guaranteed to make a friend at the bar and a guaranteed good meal at the table. Parking can be a challenge but you will find a spot of you're willing to walk a block or two. Lambertville is a very charming town but Bell is located in a neighborhood, away from the popular spots. Had dinner last night at good olde stand-by Bell's. And boy did they not only NOT disappoint but they showed their A game! Had two apps - a salad special that had delicious black cherries and a 1/2 portion of pesto pasta. If you've never had their PESTO run, don't walk. So good! An entree of Chicken D' Conzo (sp?) was what we both had as entrees...delish! Finished with the amazing bread pudding. Service was efficient and friendly without being obtrusive. I was craving pasta on Christmas Eve Eve, and this place always looked so warm and cozy inside so... Lambertville was hopping on a night I thought it would be quiet. Bell's was crowded too, but we were able to nab a bar table by the window. This is clearly a neighborhood hangout. Everyone seemed to be a local (which is a good thing). F and I split a refreshing citrus salad and I ordered liguini puttanesca and F had another pasta which I can't remember. Both were delicious and satisfied my mac crav. The vibe is friendly, warm and welcoming. The service is as well. Nice selection of wines, too. We don't often go out for Italian food, but we would come back to Bell's for sure. read more

This place is just okay, but gets packed. Started with a salad on the specials board which was fantastic in a citrus vinaigrette with mandarin oranges. Had the pesto pasta with chicken for dinner. I like that there is a half portion option available for $8 and it was PLENTY! Sauce was dry... like eating bland noodles. The grilled chicken was bountiful though and seasoned well with rosemary and other spices. Entrees served with bread basket. Warning: they are CASH ONLY which is absurd to me and rather inconvenient. Not advertised anywhere and there are plenty of high priced menu items. Who carries this much cash on them anymore? Their ATM happened to be out of service too, but a neighboring table was graciously generous enough to help my party out with the remaining balance. Not sure what I'd do without them! Meh. When you make a reservation and they tell you you've got 1 and a half hours to give up the table there's already something wrong. Half way through the meal while we're still eating the waiter asks if we want boxes. Even if we were through, the food didn't warrant bringing it home. Although bread is always a nice addition when you're waiting hungry for your food, this was basic, soft grocery store variety. My vegetable lasagna was covered in uncooked bread crumbs. It was an old, goodrestaurant that's now just old. Follow up to last review and response from Bell's: There is absolutely no way the bread is homemade and an insulting response to my review. read more

We spent the weekend in the area and were fortunate to find this place away from the hustle and bustle of the Lambertville downtown area. When we arrived the hostess had no record of our reservation. However, she seated us and later came over and said she found it. My wife had the mussels special and I had the chicken diconzo. Both were excellent. What a cute restaurant in the middle of a row of homes! I never would have come across this place myself, and so glad that my friend lives in the area and brought us here. Quite a find! We started off with the calamari and then split the farfalle francesca, carbonara, grilled new york strip steak and key lime pie. The pastas were excellent, my favorite being the carbonara which was rich and creamy and nicely paired with the salty pancetta. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms and shallots were a great accompaniment. The portions are also very generous (see my pics!). We ordered half an order of the farfalle and it might as well been a full order. The key lime pie was a nice way to end the already filling meal. It had a chocolate crust that went great with the tangy lime filling. My friend had rave reviews on the bread pudding, but we were just too full to order both. Service was so friendly and attentive. Went to Bell's Tavern with our son last evening. He lives in Lambertville and drops in there regularly. Had good drinks and a very good grilled salmon entrée. My son had a shrimp with pasta and spinach which looked great and he has enjoyed before. Lovely side salads came with the entrees and delicious fresh Italian bread. We loved the ambiance of this local neighborhood pub and the service was excellent--a friendly server who was known to our son. Looking forward to visiting again soon. BTW we went early, at 5pm on Thursday and by the time we left the place was almost filled! read more

I love their Chicken Parmesan! I do wish they gave more Spaghetti with it. You do get a Salad with your entree. Their Creamy Sesame dressing is THE best. I could drink it. So skip the Balsamic or Ranch or whatever you usually order and try the Sesame. The only other entree I've had is the Tortellini Rosoto. Which is cheese tortellini in a pink sauce with Peas and Prosciutto. You can request a half order, which I do for an appetizer. Cons: They are only open for dinner. The hours suck. They open at 5pm and not one minute before, so hopefully you don't want to wait for your reservation or other members in the dining party at the bar for a drink. It was also super dark inside and very hard to see any words on the menu. There were 3 people in our party, we ordered 3 drinks, 3 apps and 3 entrees. Calamari was crisp, seasonal salad great...but don't waste your money on the mozzarella, olive and red pepper app - it was good but nothing that you can't get anywhere else. Between the 3 of us we had the mushroom risotto with chicken - great, the Bell's Gambretti was fresh but not unique and the hamburger was fresh. The staff was friendly but rushed us the entire time, constantly asking if we were ready to order, anything else, dropped the check the second we were finished eating. And then we were just chatting for about 20 minutes after we paid for the check, another staff member came over and told us that people were waiting for our table. Literally the first time I've ever experienced this. The food was good, but not unique in any way so I won't be back. Also, most people who are out to eat are spending their hard earned money to enjoy their time out and the business should be appreciated. read more
