I went to get house keys copied. He was friendly and there are chair stools there where you can wait if needed

Went all around town to hardware stores trying to get a key copy. None of the kiosks would accept my key and when one did, it wasn't correct and didn't fit my lock. Robert's Key Service was quick, personable, and accurate. A real testament to human skills and knowledge over big box corporate tech. read more

Mike from Robert's Key Service is the best in the business, and unfortunately, he is starting to feel the urge to retire. There aren't many others out there like Mike, who possess the ability to reconstruct the old, crippled, defunct lock systems in the old houses from the late 1800s, but Mike is that guy. I hope that we can find someone who is interested in learning the trade before Mike turns in his keys and enjoys his retirement. I'm not sure what we will do without him to fix all our ancient door and lock issues! read more

Robert's Key Service - The inner workings of my ancient lock that Mike sent me to explain what was wrong - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Excellent copies the first time unlike big box stores, personable, and knowledgeable.

Fixed security door lock at mother's house. Works like new again. Waiting time can be long for a scheduled date. Can be weeks because he is so busy and popular, but it is worth it. Very experienced and prepared expert guy. Highly recommended. read more

My oldest daughter needed to make some spare door keys of her new home, so we went to Lowe's and Home Depot. Both big box retailers couldn't do it because they claimed the key was odd sized, so they didn't stock the duplicate. We went home from the suburb with frustration. I did some research on Yelp and located Robert's which was located only a mile and half away. Went there next morning and had 4 duplicate keys made in 5 minutes. The cost was less than $13 with tax, cheaper than the big box retailers. The gentleman that helped me was extremely friendly and professional. Pay street parking only, but there were plenty of spaces. read more

Super efficient, easy, and affordable. I made three sets of additional keys and I was in n out in like less than 10 minutes. Super sweet staff, they are elders who run a wonderful small business! Called to request service and was told they were weeks out to schedule a date and someone would call. No one called and I fixed the stuck deadbolt myself. read more

Excellent! Friendly and efficient service done right. A great resource for the neighborhood.

They are my favorite Baltimore business. Robert's has helped me out every time with the most demanding locks to have keys made for. Last week I took them a device on which I was sure I would have had to drill out the lock. Within 18 hours Murray had it opened and a new key made. The cost was $20. I would have gladly paid double that and gave him a nice tip for saving me. Robert's is highly recommended for your lock and key needs. I can't thank them enough for their work. They are one of Baltimore's great old multi-generational neighborhood businesses. Fantastic! read more

Terrific service. Good value. You can't go wrong with Roberts. 73 years in same location ! I had simple deadbolt install at rental property this am. Can't imagine a more frictionless experience. Walked in around noon, requested two keys be made, then paid and walked out less than 2.5 minutes later with the keys I needed. Couldn't recommend more highly! read more

I called Roberts 3 years ago after an ex girlfriend gave me a number I thought was Robert's.. the number turned out to be a lock scam company trolling in Baltimore. I had to change 6 locks and the total cost was around $650. I had no clue what lock services cost and in the end could not get the guy out of the house fast enough. I still wound up having 6 keys because he said each service was separate .shaky grin.. then he had to get the hell out of my house... I called the real Roberts Key Service and they showed up the very next day, on time friendly, fast and professional. The result 2 keys one for all my doors and the other for all my security storms doors plus 3 copies and all really inexpensive less than $130!! Buying a house the week and can't wait to see if they can help me again. read more

I went to get a copy of my house keys and the guy there started talking to me about "listening to the crazies" all day. He continued taking and I learned he thought the "crazies" were Black Lives Matters activists. He then talked about a cop being shot yesterday by a member of the group here in Baltimore, which I googled upon leaving and found that, in fact, no cops were shot or injured. He then told me the Black Guerrilla Family are targeting cops and released a statement, which I also googled and the Baltimore Sun reported over a year ago that the police were releasing uncorroborated statements about a gang threat on the day of Freddie Gray's funeral. There were no additional reports on the topic. He continued, telling me that it's a Black Lives Matter "rage day" today, which I looked up and found on Snopes.com to be a false rumor, completely unassociated with the Black Lives Matter movement, and identical to a rumor releases on this day in 2014. The group the rage day claims to be associated with is the hacktivist collective, Anonymous, but Anonymous has made statements that this is a false rumor and not something they have released, planned or spread. The "day of rage" also claims to be about "civil disobedience and the right to protest" which doesn't even seem that threatening even if were real. Finally he concluded by saying that there would then be a regular Black Lives Matter protest later tonight, and acted like this was also something to worry about. IMO a protest seems like people exercising their constitutional rights, and this is nothing to be scared of. tl;dr The keys were fine but in the future, I will go to Waverly Ace hardware so shopkeepers won't inflict me with their racist, alarmist, and factually inaccurate opinions. read more

I have to make a set of spare keys for my apartment and I chose to go from Homewood to this location via public transportation. The shop was conveniently located. The staff was kind and professional. It took them less than three minutes to complete my request and the price was really worth it. I will remember this place and it would be my top choice for any key and lock related services! read more

I've been here twice to get keys made and both times things went perfectly smooth. Takes them under a minute to make you a copy and the store has a welcoming vibe. I'll definitely be back. read more

A very fast and friendly experience. I brought in a key to be copied. A couple a minutes and some chitchat later the copies were ready. I don't know what else you'd want from a key place. read more

Service is usually friendly and quick. These guys know what they are doing. For those who are allergic to smoke, beware that they are adjecent to a Tabacco store and sometimes smell and fumes migrate into this shop. I do not mind the smell of a good cigar, but some other people might. read more

I had problems with the Waverly ACE hardware store two times prior to visiting Robert's because the idiot who copied my key couldn't understand that one of the "shoulders" of the key was actually part of the blade that went into the keyhole so I ended up with keys shorter than the original that don't work. Went here this morning to get the same key copied. Without me having to say much, the gentleman who helped me out knew exactly what I needed and made a perfect copy of my key in less than a minute. I will definitely be coming back here if I need more keys copied and definitely not going back to ACE! read more

I walked in and Scott made me a couple duplicate keys in about 30 seconds ($4 apiece). I also had a cylinder that I needed to have re-keyed which was no problem for them ($12). Friendly service and a knowledgeable staff. I'll definitely be back. read more

So, the long and the short of it is that this place does its job -- I got two keys made quickly, for a grand total of $3 and two minutes' time -- but it comes with two big hangups for me, specifically the overwhelming reek of tobacco (it's also a cigar shop) and the owner's uncomfortable attempts to start political conversations with no prompting from the customer whatever. Thankfully, unless you're a janitor and you're getting all your keys remade, you'll only be there for a moment. read more

These guys are the BEST, and always have been! My family has been using them for decades. No one else in town is more reliable.

Love this place and the staff! Always super friendly and willing to help. If the copy they made doesn't work, they do a free copy for you. Love that kind of service! read more

I needed the locks changed in a house I just bought in Baltimore. I called Robert's to ask how much they would charge to come take care of it for me ($95 for the first half hour, plus $12 per lock). That seemed like a lot to me, but it's actually right around the going rate for a locksmith in the city. Without me asking, the guy on the phone who was super friendly, advised me that it would be really easy for me to take the locks out myself and bring them in, and then it would just be $12. He told me how to do it (remove a few screws), and so I decided to try. As it turns out, it was very easy. I drove to their shop with five locks, and they had them all changed out with a new set of keys in about a half hour. Total cost - $50. I bet anywhere else would have charged more, and I doubt they would've been as friendly. Some of these locks were really old, and they knew exactly how to deal with them. Parking on Read St is super easy too. read more

I love these guys. I have a cleaning company and need to copy like a million keys at a time, and this is the only place that always gives me good cuts. They usually do extra things like put rings on the keys too. I can't believe I'm writing a review for a key place but I absolutely will drive out of my way to go here because they're just way better. read more

The knob of my front door deadbolt broke on the coldest day of the year. Based on neighbor recommendations, I called Robert's Key Service. I was very pleased. read more

I went here to have keys cut after having trouble at a chain store; the gentleman at the counter cut three copies for me in about 90 seconds (even put them on a ring for me) and they worked perfectly.
